I love playing drums. I originally picked up the games for the plastic guitar part. But, when Rock Band came out I actually got a sense of some musical tie to the real thing. I starting playing the real guitar because of Guitar Hero, and starting playing the Real Drums because of Rock Band. If something good comes from these games, it's creating new musicians at young ages.
People need to shut up about Guitar Hero and real guitar. lol It's not meant to replace real guitar anytime like Call Of Duty is meant to replace war. It's just a game for fun.
I don't get why people bash Guitar Hero so much. Sure it creates A LOT of posers, but it also brings actual good music to a whole new generation of rock and metal virgins. It's actually what really pushed me to pickup guitar in the first place. Now I'm the singer and bassist for a thrash metal band. So don't be so quick to put Guitar Hero down. And now the've even introduced Rush (the greatest band of all eternity) to the game and is inspiring even more kids to carry on the tradition. Thanks GH.
I found that guitarists learn guitar hero faster than most people. I learned it pretty quickly, and my friend that has been playing for 8 years started playing on medium, and moved on to hard and expert within two days. It's just that most videos with celebrities playing the game or something shows them playing it for the first time. So people get confused.
Yeah, I had another video that I made that had wayyy more views, but it got taken down due to copyrights of the song I used. I'm not sure if we are downloading the mayhem pack. I think Jake said he might get it.
@ThatKrookedVulture I couldn't agree more with you dude , Before I know Guitar hero , I knew nothing about rock and metal ( In fact about good music ) ! One day my best friend invited me to play guitar hero 3 at his home , and the first song we played was One by Metallica... Now 4 years later , my favourite band is Metallica and the rest of the big 4 ( Im going to see them in July \m/ ! ) and many others Rock / Metal bands , I play real guitar and I'm happy ! Guitar hero changed my life forever
Stop pickin' on Guitar Hero, when I played Guitar Hero i found lots of awesome bands I had never heard of before. It's a good way to bring metal to the people!!!! \m/
@thejoosty1 Oh man I would literally kill to go see the Big Four in concert. And yeah my story is exactly the same as yours. I wasn't even into music period until I played Guitar Hero at my friends house. Now I live and breathe metal. Every waking moment of my life is deidcated to Metal and Rock N' Roll (especially THRASH!). It's all about passing the torch to the next generation right?
@LordTyrano1988 Shall i tell you what, you are so true. Playing on hard or medium can be harder than expert as the notes don't necessarily fully follow the rhythm!
lol it really is. but if you make a system to learn it, its not so bad. For example starting off I "named" my first three fingers after the first three colors. Memorized that and when the colors came through it was so much easier.
that's true. it took me like a week to learn how to play Megadeth's Hangar 18 on a real guitar. but only it took me like 30 minutes to master the same song on Guitar Hero.
This is exceedingly true. I did not care that you used "your" in place of "you're." Commenting on grammar for that on TH-cam is ludicrous. But you took it a step further and said that they mean the same thing. That does not help your cause whatsoever.
If anything, it was this game that inspired me to pick up the guitar. This was the only way I could be exposed to the likes of Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, and other awesome metal bands.
Basically the one that will full combo Jordan will only ever be a god of the five colored buttons :p I also play Guitar Hero and a real Guitar and love both, but theyre totally different really.
@totalmetalisation I am tired of hearing people say that Guitar Hero killed real guitar. Those who say that have obviously never played the game and therefore don’t know it is supposed to be unrealistic and fun. Scott should have gone through the tutorial before he started playing. I got introduced to rock music through Guitar Hero and so did many other players of the game.
My dad couldn't play this game either, and he told me that every guitar player he talks to that's tried this game can't play it for shit. I think that's hilarious! Great vid haha
Last time I tried to play something like this I couldnt do well either, I have heard people who play real guitar can't get used to guitar hero and people who play guitar hero would never turn into real musicians
@littlemoglie there's actually a youtube video of him playing through fire and flames on guitar hero and yeah he sucked, lost on easy just like you said :D
i will get so many thumbs down... but i totally agree with you people should pick a real guitar instead of playing a game in which you simulate to play the guitar
You're right, I mean with all the time it can take you to learn a GH song by heart, you could just be spending a real guitar learning how to do pinch harmonics, other that just getting Carpal tunnel faster..
lol Scott is awsome and Anthrax is awsome because there funny there about having a laugh and having fun and thats it thats why they are awsome S.O.D is awsome aswell because its about having a joke and pissing people off
yeah, 4 sure. i actually considered buying the game just 4 the drums because your doing something pretty close to the real thing but just with a smaller range of motion. it would at the least help to build a sense of rhythym.but it is obvious that the drum part is the only thing about the game that is even close to being legitimate.
i used to have, now i practice on my own but i´m dedicating myself to other things, such as orchestration, harmony and counterpoint. the fact is that we would get into a philosophical discussion to prove that music theory has to be thaught. as i said before, you might become a good guitar player, just as a player, but i doubt you will understand what beethoven meant in any of his sonatas.
i play guitar about 3 hours a day, and guitar hero possibly 1 a month and, hat sort of an insult is it if you make a comment on my grammar, i know the difference between them, but one is shorter than the other, and they mean the same thing
lol it's soo true too. I can't play guitar hero worth shit but I can play guitar. for me I'd just rather learn more about the real thing than about a game but this shit is funny.
Imagine walking into best buy and finding scott ian playing guitar hero to an anthrax song! that would be too sick
Props to Scott for a good sense of humour! And for his guitar work in a little band called Anthrax too!
He is one of the most underrated guitar players ever
This is awesome! Scott has a great sense of humor and looks like he had fun with it.
I saw it on myspace a long time ago and it wasn't on TH-cam at all so I thought I would put it on here.
never has a RYTHM guitarist been as awsome as scott ian
People need to shut up about Guitar Hero and real guitar. lol It's not meant to replace real guitar anytime like Call Of Duty is meant to replace war. It's just a game for fun.
no way, i thought it was the exact same, i thought i could be a rock star if i played guitar hero, you have shattered my dreams
Thanks GH.
"This is more difficult than actually playing"
hahahaha! That was f*cking awesome!
Can you imagine going into the store and hearing someone playing "madhouse" and seeing HIM playing it!? LOL!
I found that guitarists learn guitar hero faster than most people. I learned it pretty quickly, and my friend that has been playing for 8 years started playing on medium, and moved on to hard and expert within two days. It's just that most videos with celebrities playing the game or something shows them playing it for the first time. So people get confused.
scott ian is a monster of metal scott ian forever
Guitar Hero is the reason I picked up a guitar ❤
Yeah, I had another video that I made that had wayyy more views, but it got taken down due to copyrights of the song I used. I'm not sure if we are downloading the mayhem pack. I think Jake said he might get it.
dude scott is the man!!
@ThatKrookedVulture I couldn't agree more with you dude , Before I know Guitar hero , I knew nothing about rock and metal ( In fact about good music ) ! Man he looks like he's fun to be around i would hang out with him he's seems like a pretty down to earth guy
The irony of it is just so sweet. Scott's known for his stage energy, and yet he's totally still and concentrated...trying to play his own music. lol.
That's pretty good....but can he play John the Fisherman on acoustic Guitar Hero??
Stop pickin' on Guitar Hero, when I played Guitar Hero i found lots of awesome bands I had never heard of before. It's a good way to bring metal to the people!!!! \m/
I love this video!!!
"AW , DUDE! ITS THE SOLO, THIS IS NO FAIR!! I'M THE RHYTHM!! NOT THE LEAD!!!!"
@Jonsk12394 well the Guitar Hero drums are almost like real drums so he might be able to actually play War Ensemble on real drums
Cos rhythm guitarists are the guys who play most of the riffs you actually associate with the song, and it's their skill that actually drives it.
totally agree
no pain no gain
Scott Ian's my guitar hero in the real world
@NightmareBladez YES for the last 23 years i did and do listen to ANTHRAX
go scott ur awesome
ya, it took me longer than it was supposed to be to learn those quick open hi hat notes, but for the rest rockband made my drumming more kick ass :D
@LordTyrano1988 Shall i tell you what, you are so true. Playing on hard or medium can be harder than expert as the notes don't necessarily fully follow the rhythm!
Yeah, that is indeed Scott Ian.
@Pandiemonium Yessir. Dave Mustaine and Alex Lifeson both ended up in the same position.
"They should have a thing where if you head bang you get one point..." That would be awesome!
You're absolutely right
This is hilarious.
Hang in there, Scott. You still fuckin' rock.
lol it really is. but if you make a system to learn it, its not so bad. For example starting off I "named" my first three fingers after the first three colors. Memorized that and when the colors came through it was so much easier.
that's true. it took me like a week to learn how to play Megadeth's Hangar 18 on a real guitar. but only it took me like 30 minutes to master the same song on Guitar Hero.
i agree that playing a real guitar is a lot easier than guitar hero but this game kicks ass
Scott Ian may not be a Guitar Hero but he's Guitar Legend
haha...I love Scott Ian!...(and Anthrax!)
"If you play this you'll never be a guitar player, you'll fuck up your hand". how true
Watch out, we got us a real guitar hero here!
WHAT SONG WHAT SONG!!!!
madhouse
pero en vivo es donde vale
That tickles me.
Rock On Dude! Peace
What concert was that at the end?
he plays rockband on Vh1 presents100 greatest rock songs of all time
@totalmetalisation It introduced me and many other kids to the genre. Try and google the Guitar Hero effect.
This is exceedingly true. I did not care that you used "your" in place of "you're." Commenting on grammar for that on TH-cam is ludicrous. But you took it a step further and said that they mean the same thing. That does not help your cause whatsoever.
i play both and have to forget guitar hero when i actually play.
How did you get your hands on this video?
If anything, it was this game that inspired me to pick up the guitar. This was the only way I could be exposed to the likes of Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, and other awesome metal bands.
Basically the one that will full combo Jordan will only ever be a god of the five colored buttons :p
I also play Guitar Hero and a real Guitar and love both, but theyre totally different really.
It's just a game, don't take it seriously
I play this game, and i play the guitar, bass, drums and harmonica
the similarity is that scott only needs or uses 5 frets and the rest is used for N.O.T. inlays. Guitar hero needs chromatic death.
@totalmetalisation I am tired of hearing people say that Guitar Hero killed real guitar. Those who say that have obviously never played the game and therefore don’t know it is supposed to be unrealistic and fun.
Scott should have gone through the tutorial before he started playing.

My dad couldn't play this game either, and he told me that every guitar player he talks to that's tried this game can't play it for shit. I think that's hilarious! Great vid haha
im a guitarest and there is a huge difference between playing the game and playing a real guitar
so you mean when i play racing games... it's not like driving a real F1 Indy car? :[
lol he was like they should have a thing where if u head bang u get more points, they should do that that would be tight!!
Last time I tried to play something like this I couldnt do well either, I have heard people who play real guitar can't get used to guitar hero and people who play guitar hero would never turn into real musicians
good for you son. good for you
@totalmetalisation i actualy staarted playing drums and guitar from it
I Second That!
Great: "i couldnt hear myself, the monitors are terrible"!!!!
Thats so damn funny^^ laughed my ass off
@GamerSam7 ALWAYS! \ m /
they are used to having 20 frets and 6 strings , and his muscle memory makes him do it incorrectly
"someone can't find the yellow button"
"ahh I'm getting yelled at"
haha oh wow
@totalmetalisation yep
yes, cause the game is not a simulation just made for a little thing called FUN and nothing more.
lol, i mett scott ian in march..
im in kerrang with a photo with him, on the letters page, this weeks issue.
(y)
phemo! via myspace.
i'm good at guitar but i suck at guitar hero. he is not alone.
"way more tense" "bigger crowd too" LOL nice clip
me too
OWNED XD
@littlemoglie
there's actually a youtube video of him playing through fire and flames on guitar hero and yeah he sucked, lost on easy just like you said :D
i will get so many thumbs down...
but i totally agree with you
people should pick a real guitar instead of playing a game in which you simulate to play the guitar
this guy really look smart!
No, that was some guy named Nick Mondo or something.
its funny cus i heard slash isnt good at guitar hero either but they both own a real guitar no question
lol..You have got quite an active imagination there. I thought your comment was rather comical! haha
@thejoosty1 Fuck yeah. \m/(>.
YEAH
@Bodomforever666 I agree. It even made me buy a real guitar.
@LordTyrano1988 When they can´t hit the buttons because they aren´t used to the controls, they will fail even harder...
You're right, I mean with all the time it can take you to learn a GH song by heart, you could just be spending a real guitar learning how to do pinch harmonics, other that just getting Carpal tunnel faster..
oh so now you have a lot of views, are you gonna get the mayhem pack?
i can play like every song on gh3 on expert and normal guitar probably took 25 times longer to learn.
lol Scott is awsome and Anthrax is awsome because there funny there about having a laugh and having fun and thats it thats why they are awsome S.O.D is awsome aswell because its about having a joke and pissing people off
yeah, 4 sure. i actually considered buying the game just 4 the drums because your doing something pretty close to the real thing but just with a smaller range of motion. it would at the least help to build a sense of rhythym.but it is obvious that the drum part is the only thing about the game that is even close to being legitimate.

lol the monitors where terrible^^
lol it's soo true too. I can't play guitar hero worth shit but I can play guitar. for me I'd just rather learn more about the real thing than about a game but this shit is funny.
Lol, I could never play this game, it was too difficult.
I bet a bass player could kick a guitarists ass at this game. Wait, I'm a bass player. Look out Ian, I got your number!
