Are u selling any inquistor lightsabers?
I received it just a week later a lot faster than i thought thanks alot.
@@AJediKnight1 which one did u get?
@@StarWarsAnalyst I got Obi Wans and the free one was Knight.
@StarWarsAnalyst have you any videos of how durable your light sabers are, for example you hitting one off a tree or something, and yes I'm serious
I always thought the point of Maul force shoving Obi Wan was to demonstrate how Obi Wan's anger had made him vulnerable. He leaves himself open to one of the most basic force powers because he is fighting recklessly. That being said, the pro wrestling-style throw is pretty awesome.
Never thought of it that way but that makes sense
Thanks!
Yeah plus Maul was more of a fast and agile fighter rather than a particularly strong one, this doesn't really fit with that image of him
PRECISELY
Thank you
I think that was the intention. Maul goads obiwan in the Clone Wars show, and we see Obiwan sink into his anger as he fights Maul. And Maul takes advantage of this during the fight
Yeah, I thought the same thing. His anger got the better of him and he made a rookie mistake.
They should kept Darth maul for the whole prequel trilogy he kicked ass
Absolutely
True. At least keep him as a reference… I don’t recall any movies outside of Phantom Menace mentioning him or giving him any credit until cartoons came out
watch the clone wars
@@alessandroviva1652 I could never get into that show. I liked the original series of the same name that it replaced, but once they brought out the CGI and started having more dialogue, the whole thing became to childish. You would think the short episodes with more emphasis on action sequences would have been more childish, but that one actually felt far more mature by comparison. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to the Clone Wars, but I just had to say this. Also, Darth Maul's death in that series felt really lame, and only made it so that he could never be used again in future movies.
@@wr7662 clone wars has some of the most explicit themes in a star wars show rated for kids. Most episodes wouldn't pass on Cartoon network today not to mention all of the political scenes that kids don't understand. If thats you're only reason for not watching it Id recommend giving it another try. By the end of season 3 you'll realize some of the arcs get extremely dark. Just look up the Umbara arc for example.
Edit: Darth maul dies in Rebels not the clone wars. He is in 5 seasons of the clone wars as a major antagonist. His death probably felt lame because you saw nothing leading up to it.
I always loved how Qui-Gon meditated amidst of the battle. It's so badass in a way.
Yea and end up dying.🤣🤣🤣
He was preparing to become one with the Force and become a Force Ghost
Maul was also meditating in his own way. Qui-Gon was attuned to the Force, letting it guide him and granting him focus by creating a moment of calm and peace. Maul on the other hand was pumping himself up, steeped in rage, hate and adrenaline. Obi-Wan on the other hand just stood there, waiting for the doors to open. Qui-Gon and Maul were just in a different league.
Yes, he beat Maul, but Maul was easily the more capable fighter and only lost due to his hubris and borderline reckless gloating over Obi-Wan.
@@Corristo89Well said 👏
It is the best depiction of the difference between the light and dark sides. Controlling your feelings Vs letting your emotions flow.
Ewan Mcgregor really should have been in more action movies . After seeing how much he put into doing his own stunts he is amazing in Action! I wish I could have seen him in more movies like Star Wars and the Island
Definitely needs more credit
It’s not really an action movie, but you should watch “Impossible” with Ewan Mcgregor. It’s a very emotional movie & he does a fantastic job in it
He's in black hawk down too
@@steveducey8748 Was about to say that. Good ole Grimesey.
Almost brings a tear to my eye getting to see old clips of Star Wars content being created by somebody who had actual passion for it and was in it to create a memorable story, instead of just “Money money money money 🐭🐭🐭🐭” Wish George would have never sold it.
Agree 1000%
I wish that too
Well blame the prequel fans for that!
If he didn’t get all that backlash he wouldn’t.
@@chriscage669 Well, probably Lucas was the most surprised by some of that backlash, but i don't think it was beacuse of that. He had a story to tell and he knew the risks but went ahead anyway because it was the story he wanted to tell. Also, he stated publicly that he had concluded that chapter of his life. Now, he could have ended right there and keep the franchise as sole creator, so why did he sell? I think he was pressured really hard to so
@@mateosimon4237 sad man
Really sad
not deleted footage, basically an ad, and a quick behind the scenes shot at the end. cmon guys!
The shot where Obi Wan jumps back as Maul lunges, then changes direction to go for Qui Gon is one of the best shots left out, and, alongside a shot from Epsiode III, where Kenobi is forced back on a platform, but taken from a panning angle, should have been in the final movie.
But they have some VERY high-quality lightsabers. I’m not affiliated with them, btw.
Interesting.
As time passes, the cultural value of Prequels only increases.
Yes, it saddens me they werent appreciated in their time
The great thing about this fight is that it holds up so well after all these years and is better than most of the fights that came after. I like it better just the way it is with the force push by Maul.
I love how they aimed hardcore for Phantom Menace fights. Ray Parks brought an intense presence, coupled with kickass boss music, flashy but good choreography, an unusual but powerful weapon, all culminated to make Darth Maul iconic.
The way Maul takes out quigon in the full version is epic.
That’s what I want to see
????
Man it would have been so kick ass if he did choke slam him over like that
Right
But if maul made physical contact with Kenobi, it would raise the question of why Maul didn't just slice or stab him with the saber already in his other hand. I think this was why Lucas made the decision to use the force instead, because it required less time in the heat of battle than to purposely grab, hold and throw. Of course, fans always want what they can't have.
I got to meet Ray Park and ask him. How much more could they have done if they had the carbon fiber Lightsabers from episode 3? He said it didn't matter because most of their stunts ended up being cut anyway.
And I remember seeing a picture of Obi-Wan (stunt man). Running up a wall while Maul sliced at where his feet were. That wasn't in the movie.
Damn I’ve never seen that…. I gotta find it
@StarWarsAnalyst I can't find it anywhere. I still have most of the books, magazines and making of material from 99'. But I can't find that photo anywhere.
It's after the hanger before the plasma walkways. Ewan's stuntman is running up the wall into a back flip. Ray Park is slashing at the wall beneath him. There's a crash pad for him to land on. Nick Gillard, and I think Rick McCallum. Are standing in the background. I remember it clearly because I was looking for it in the movie.
Damn. I met Ray Park at a convention and I didn’t say anything to him because I was so star struck hahahaha
*Hangar@@DarthArachnious
Most of the stunts were cut? So what about the stunts we did see? So there was several times more than that?
The fight was still a real blast.
Yes it was. But the way obi wan WON, not convincing.
The problem that I see with that last part is that if Maul had all the time to catch and launch Obi, he should just go for the kill at that second, on the other side using the force con be assumed more than a lucky hit when Maul was in some difficult
Or have it to where the force induced hip toss by mail gives him his window with obiwan just barely rolling out the way to fall into the side of the reactor.
Well even in the final cut Maul pretty clearly had Obi wan dead to rights and *should have killed him if not for plot armor
I mean hip throws arent exactly out of the realm of possibility in sword fighting
@@akshaysundaram1836
I really hate when people use the word “plot armour” espeically when Obi Wan is *main character*! Like, I fail to see what happens if they actually did kill him off. Plot armour is just another buzz word for people who obsess with realism and get pissy over the slightest bit of impracticality.
@@ulfberht4431 You fail to see what happens? Obviously main characters MUST stay alive to sustain continuity. And it's annoying to watch knowing x character can't die while the dope unexplored villains are cannon fodder. That's all. It isn't a buzz word, it's literally just an adjective to describe the limitations of the story
Qui-Gon really really hates rewatching this content after seeing others survive being stabbed by a lightsaber. 😂
Lightsaber wound is nothing now.
It's just a shame bacta wasn't invented for about another 30 minutes after he died.
The video was fine, but the title was clickbait.
I had Obi-Wan tied for my favorite character, but seeing Ewan go as hard as he did in choreography just solidified him as #1 for me. The man is the embodiment of what a traditional Jedi should be. While Luke, Cal Kestis, and Caleb Dume are perfect examples of what a Jedi could be.
I would say that we saw pre-prime Obi-Wan in The Phantom Menace and also in The Attack of the Clones. To me, orime Kenobi was during the actual Clone Wars in the animated series and also in Revenge of the Sith.
I think that having Maul force push Kenobi down the shaft was a good choice. It makes sense -- Kenobi's un-Jedi-like rage being used against him, as if Maul were feeding off of it. But what really should have been done better, somehow, is Kenobi's final flip and cut. It has always seemed absurd to have Maul just stand there, as if paralyzed and unable to move, as Kenobi . . .
. . . (a) levitates up past him . . .
. . . (b) flips over him . . .
. . . (c) lands, and then . . .
. . . (d) slices him.
That's a long sequence of movements during each of which Maul should have sliced at Kenobi: during Kenobi's levitate-upward movement, during Kenobi's flip-over movement, during Kenobi's landing movement, and during Kenobi's slicing strike. Four distinct movements! And Maul, the ever-so-quick Maul, suddenly stands there as if he were immobilized? Why? It has never made any sense.
Too true! And the bit where Maul falls onto the lower walkway. In judo, the roll is the first thing you learn. I'd have flicked the blades off, rolled with the hilts diagonal against my body (he landed the perfect way for this) - and been up and ready for when Qui Gon jumped down. Instead, Ray Parks has to lie there rolling about like a beetle on its back - while Liam Neeson has to stand beside him like a moron for whole seconds rather than skewer his enemy. I bet Ray's irritation was real. Never let it be said that the man doesn't have patience in his art.
You aren't taking into consideration the psychology of the Sith. The Sith are aligned with the worst parts of us, meaning that in this moment Maul is basking in the pleasure of gloating while he stares at the defeated Obi-Wan desperately hanging on. In this moment, Maul thinks he has already won, the fight is over, and now he is toying with the object of his hatred, this pathetic defeated Jedi. What is Maul thinking in this moment? "I've just killed your master and now I'm grinning down as I watch your final moments and the hope drain from your eyes as you lose strength and fall to your death." Things like this. In a moment like this when one is so full of himself and consumed by pride, the last thing one would expect is that the tables are about to turn. In this moment when Maul is gloating, the disabling effect of disbelief is enough to prevent him to react. The Dark Side destroys itself, Maul's arrogance and pride is what allows Obi to turn the tides in this moment. Also, you should consider that it looks slow because that is how it had to be due to human limitations of filming a scene like this. In the actual Star Wars universe, I assume it would have been much faster and it just looks clunky on screen.
@@StoneDeceiver THANK YOU
Practical pov : I guess the sole montage of the scene slows it down for us, otherwise it would have been unreadable for our mere eyes.
Lore pov : Maul is too prideful and taunting Obi-Wan which he clearly just defeated. He just can't wait to see him fall to his death. That's precisely what gives Obi-Wan the final upper hand.
@@DrumFuckerFr yeah, i was thinking about it being 'slow-mo' due to restrictions of technology and stuff, it really does look slow to my eye after watching the movie for the first time in decades lol
Yeah, this wasn't the first time an excellent fight was passed for a more inferior one. Look at the original Palpatine vs Windu fight.
If he did that, he could've just as easily sliced him up instead of tossing him. I was hoping for a better Obi Wan winning ending - because Darth Maul just watching Obi Wan jump over him grab a light saber, turn it on, and cut him while doing nothing was pretty lame. Plot armor too strong.
Exactly! I have always felt this way and was also hoping for a better ending here. Maul is fast enough and talented enough to duel 2 Jedi at the same time, but isn't fast enough to stop a guy that's below him from jumping all the way over him and slicing him in half? Come on!
The post production effect that were used in the lightsabers looks so much better than those glowing sticks that they use now on the disney+ shows.
True. The new stuff is sorely lacking when it comes to continuity of details like that.
That's it!?. I waited thru the video for a hip toss?? 🙄
That right there fighting Ray Parks in rehearsals is the Andreas Petrides, Ewan McGregor stunt double that guys absolutely amazing hall of fame stuntman, and I’ve had the pleasure of being trained by him 🔥🔥
First thing I want to say is I'm a child of the 70's. I grew up with the original series of 4, 5 and 6. I absolutely LOVED the prequels. Not after 15 years of 'growing on me' like most original series fan boys. But immediately! I thought they were better movies. And the reason being was the light saber duels! They were so powerfully choreographed. I immediately fell in love with the fury of the Sith Lords and their abilities. I respect the prequels adherence to Yoda's words that a Sith gains power faster, meaning of course, a Master Jedi would have serious issues with a Sith apprentice. Then, they stuck to it by having Maul defeat Qui Gon as soon as he had him one on one. Obi Wan's 'beast mode' lasted all of 10 seconds and then Maul beat him as well. What always bothered me was how Obi turned the tables...OK, Obi Wan had to live, otherwise there is no plot but....Watching him levitate into a 60 foot air kicked jump?? and then summersault over Mauls head? When did Human Cannonball become a Jedi power??? He had nothing to kick off on except air! LOLOLOL
Well, he pulled with his arms, but yeah that sequence is just so slow and unbelievable that Maul just stands there and says, "Huh?" while Obi-Wan slices through him.
@@Sindraug25 It would have been better if Obi wan cuts Maul when he is going up, instead of having Maul just wait there.
And Maul's top half shouts as he falls: " BUT I HAD THE HIGH GROOUUUUUNNN...!!! "
Towards the beginning of that fight scene, Obi-wan does a distraction pump-fake at Maul while Qui-Gon strikes. Little bits like that show all the thought and effort that was put into the fight choreography; that one move revealed that this master and apprentice had been in many battles together and were a very experienced fighting team. Still my favorite lightsaber battle of the entire franchise.
I don’t think it should’ve been deleted, it would’ve been a lot cooler.
If they dedicated the same amount of time as they did in the prequels the sequels would have been slightly better instead of a bunch of children waving sticks around..
If they had dedicated any time at all to the prequels’ scripts and dialogue, they probably wouldn’t have sucked so hard.
@@CoolHandLuke813bro, they all sucked. The sequels are not even entertaining in the least, however.
Saber fights then vs now is comical
In vid promo was longer than the portion about the deleted footage.
Except for the Vader Hallway Scene, that one deleted Darth Maul shot is better than the entirety of Disney's Star Wars efforts.
I always hear Ewan Mcgregor talk about lightsabers like he doesn’t really remember how to duel or swing a lightsaber. Make no mistake him and Hayden are LIKE THAT.
Nah, Maul using Force Push is the ONLY time he actually uses a force power...
So yeah him tossing Ben would have been cool, but we would lose variety.
Not implementing that horizontal dodge spin at 1:42 was criminal.
I’ve never understood why they deleted so many scenes from the fight
Timing, editing the movie for viewing. Then you would have like 3-4hr films.
As a child I used to watch this battle religiously and reenact it all day lol. And now I’m 24 and I still know the lightsaber sounds each swing is going to make and choreography for everyone, especially the duel between obi and maul lol. It’s like muscle memory. I watched all the deleted scenes and extra content too. Glad you made a video on this
Maul’s fighting style and spirit has always facilitated me because his were one of the most realistic out of all the Star Wars characters.
Until they ruined it by turning his speed waaaaay down to allow Obi-Wan to jump all the way over him and slice him in half. He's fast enough to duel 2 Jedi at the same time, but not fast enough to stop Kenobi from doing that? Yeah right.
I'm not sure if anyone else ever noticed this, but the Darh Maul/Obi Wan fight is the first time 'force-push' was ever shown onscreen. As a kid who grew up with the original trilogy, I'd always wondered why Luke/Vader never used force push in their duels... and I even though perhaps it wasn't possible to use the force against living beings.
Ahhh the good days, when star wars didnt suck. (Pre Disney)
This is about the only SW content i can watch now with open admiration.
The time effort and work put into these scenes (and the clean-up of the video) is timeless.
I'd really like a few longer cuts of the scenes if they are available.
I have the full uncut footage available for members

I don’t think a Jedi has ever won a duel that didn’t experience anger as motivator haha
The thing that has bothered me since 1999 is that when Maul Force pushes Kenobi, in the closeup it’s Maul’s right hand but then it immediately cuts to a wide shot and he’s holding his left hand up! Makes me insane every time.
I never noticed this
@@StarWarsAnalyst you’ll never not notice it now. I noticed it on opening night!!! I’m kinda OCD and the Star Wars films are chock full of that kind of stuff. I love the movies dearly but they also drive me insane at times!
Or the fact that in most blows they aren’t even trying to hit their opponent. They aim for the saber.
Never noticed that!
at 2:39 in the above video it is close up of Maul's left hand for the force push and wide shot of his left hand up. Always left hand.
I can't help noticing that, in several light sabre duels, obvious tactical openings are often missed by the combatants.
That's a pretty good alternate ending but I think the Force Push was better.
Being Darth Sidious apprentice is the most dangerous job in the galaxy. Being Darth Sidious Master is very dangerous.
At 1:29 I can tell from the lightsaber sounds what fight that’s from. Luke vs Vader from empire. That’s so unhealthy
Damn this is too clean!!!
Ehh, I wouldn’t say ‘better.’ All of the stuff that was cut, was cut for a reason.
That throw and badass scenes like Mace Windu in clone wars punching the droids are needed... when the fighters are letting loose to show a glimpse of what can happen when you fully unleash and embrace the force. Whether Dark or light.
There was so much cut out of this duel and it is better late than never that we finally start to see what was cut and removed!!
Talk this video was to lead up to a flip? Damn wow.
Quigon right after becoming a force goody and seeing obiwan go beast mode against maul: where the fk was that five minutes ago????
You lost me the second you started advertising light sabers.
There's merit to both endings of the fight. Maul being overpowering is a great testament to the danger Obi-Wan is in, but we already knew Maul was formidable. Couldn't hurt (except Obi-Wan) if we got to see him beat Obi-Wan some more before this.
As @Salsmachev said in another comment, the Force Push shows how Obi-Wan is so off-balance that he gets floored by one of the easier tricks in the book, he left himself vulnerable in his rage, and it nearly cost him his life. I think this is the better choice for that reason. The throw simply doesn't demonstrate anything we didn't already know, but the push shows Obi-Wan's state of mind and how dangerous it can be to let your guard down.
Star wars analyst im rewriting the prequels do you have any deleted footage i could use
"A crummy commercial?" -Ralphie
In case you don't want to watch 3 minutes of video, Darth Maul in one version of the duel grabs Obi-Wan by the throat and throws him into the pit instead of Force pushing him.
Hey, I love seeing all the obscure stuff you find. Great job! Something I'd love to see is the Darth Maul/Obi-Wan fight at actual speed. There was an interview recently in which Ewan said the film crew overcranked the camera to slow down the fight, because Park and McGregor had been practising so much they were moving so fast that nobody thought the audience would believe it was real. It would be great to find out how much the fight was slowed down, and then return it to its true-to-life speed!
Agreed
He doesn’t find it, he takes it from Nick Gillards, TH-cam channel, and when asked to credit him he goes on to call him an old man who should just live the rest of his short life of the internet. He also said much nastier stuff
Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I'll ignore this channel in future if that prices true and go over to nick Gillard's instead...
George Lucas sounded like a defeated worn down beaten Kermit the Frog.😅
So Mike uses your sabers regularly?? Been reallllly looking for a new combat saber or two to wrk with
I definitely wouldn't say it's better. But it does kickass!
Watching Ray Parks Darth Maul fight Count Dooku would be the most beautiful thing ever
I will always say ray parks role in this was so severely underrepresented since he had to do most of the attacking and simultaneously blocking, legendary
Hey so I bought a Saber from your site, and picked a free one, and the one I bought arrived a couple days ago. However, I have yet to receive the free one, Any chance you could help me with this issue? Just need to know if I am still getting the free one or not. Thanks!

@@StarWarsAnalyst Ok thank you, I appreciate the fast response! :)
@@gamergoku9001 no problem!
It looks cool but dude they aren’t even trying to hit each other they aim for the other guys saber.
The force push was better and more Jedi-like than the overhead throw, which would have looked foolish in the middle of a duel. They got it right in the movie, I think.
I MISS THIS MAN'S VOICE ON THESE FILMS, AND HIS VISION ON THE WHOLE DEAL.
One lingering question I've always had: How did the actors not sweat so much while wearing the thick and heavy costumes? Did they keep the sound stages at 32°F?
My favorite moment will always be when Obi-Wan does a flip over Maul and Maul strikes at him and Obi-Wan blocks the strike in mid flip. That was badass!! I know a lot people hate TPM but say what you want, that fight is hands down the coolest lightsaber fight in all of Sar wars!!
EPIC Darth Maul duel with Obi Wan and Qui Gon, neck-n-neck with my favorite between Emperor Palpatine and Yoda!
Cool!
❤❤❤❤❤AMAZING
I’m just hoping Qui Gon survives the stabbing this time.
Take note Filoni , this is how REAL Jedi fight. That slow , lame boring fight scenes in Ahsoka makes me cringe
Shoulda kept the OG yeet and not deleted it. Way cooler than a force shove.
I always thought of Darth Maul as a savage beast with his fighting prowess along with his saber skills. So having that deleted scene would've been great to me. Not to say the scene that ended up in the final cut was bad by any stretch of the imagination, but yeah. Granted, Obi-Wan is my favorite character in the prequel trilogy, seeing Maul in action was pretty cool.
Ironically light sabers would be better suited for fencing since just a touch burns.
Ooooooo!!!! That choke an hip flip would have been sweet!!!!!!!😮
throw that man like a t-shirt
Back when Star Wars was Star Wars. Ah the memories!
You should animate maul using the move from the deleted scene or someone should
The end scene where Obi kills Maul was utterly stupid and could never have happened.
Maul would never have sat there like a deer in the headlights holding a light saber while an unarmed Obi jumped over him.
The way it should have ended is Obi used the force and make his light saber shoot silently forward, ignite at the last second and stab Maul in the back, then used the force to pull it sideways and slice Maul in two.
Around the 2 min mark, is that guy called Thomas?
Ive never gotten over the inability of Obi Wan to run that short distance before the forcefields kicked in. Even as he chose not to use his jedi super speed he still should have made that distance. If he had bothered to save his master, the galaxy would have been very different
its fantastic with or without ..
Honestly the force push was good for highlighting how out of focus obiwon got. But not using the force and one handedly yeeting obiwon into a pit would have been even better.
They should’ve kept the Maul hip toss in the movie. Without it,he looked bad ass, but with it, he would’ve looked like the ultimate assassin.
Funny, I was just watching an IGN video analyze this fight compared to actual sword fighting techniques and one of their complaints was how they just stand there while twirling their lightsabers, not moving around to get into better striking positions or overwhelm the opponent. It was likely due to needing to be in certain positions for the CG to do its work in the background, but at least in the practice shots, you can clearly see they are showing a great display of moving around the set to get an upper hand on the opponent!
I'm a 68 year old need and love your content. I've watched you many times but only subscribed today. Thanks for your research and hard work. You're a terrific presenter.
Maul force-pushing Obi Wan into the pit is the first time we ever see this power used by two force users in a duel. I remember wondering afterward why it never happened in the original trilogy…
Just curious how is it you can sell access to these videos?thats real close to violating copyright laws.then everyone who posts stuff on youtube just to post not for monetary gain gets punished.
For me, Ian Mcdiarmid is BY FAR the best actor for the entire prequel trilogy ...truly outstanding work. Classicsl actors like him and Patrick Stewart (Picard) tend to be top tier actors!
If I can be brutally honest on this one, even though I have enjoyed your videos very much this one just didn't work right, mostly because you gave us barely any actual video, or information and it is largely overshadowed by what seems like shameless self promoting, although there's nothing wrong with making money from TH-cam (or what have you) it seems to me like this video lacked integrity, I'd be a lier if I said I wasn't just a little disappointed, youtube already comes with money hungry commercials as is, mentioning your lightsabers what seemed like 2-3 times mid stream should be embarrassing.
Man's gotta eat
Bro really put a sponsorship ad in a 3 min vid 🤡
Yep
You took that long just to say maul grabs obi wan and flips him over.
I wasn’t going to show the end of the footage before the beginning
The Darth Maul throw should have made the film
Do you have a double bladed one
Yes we have a couple saber staffs for sale
Great footage! However, the Force push was way cooler imo.
