Enjoyed watching several episodes tonight and seeing Jones Falls and the Roans again. Your wife will love Laurel Falls- great choice! And yes, we laughed at the WKRP reference. Good stuff!
I'm pretty sure I watched that WKRP turkey episode when it first aired. (Google tells me that it was 10-30-78) 45 years ago. My goodness, thanks for the "you're getting old" reminder!🙂 On a happier note, I am delighted to hear that your sweet wife, Peggy, will be joining you for the Laurel Falls and the "little ledge" section beside the Laurel Fork waters. I think you both will be charmed by the area; I'm so glad you get to enjoy it together.
Alice's Restaurant? Or Mel's Diner? I remember that episode of WKRP in Cincinnati! Names, not so much! Enjoying following your journey and glad your wife can join you!
"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly" I laugh so hard it brings me to tears every time I watch that episode. I heard that was based on a real incident that happened in Atlanta.
Very lucky your wife can join you for a day on the trail. When I did my 2023 through hike I saw my wife in Feb when I started and in July when I finished. Life throws you curve balls now and again and best laid plans go astray. You are making great progress and I think slacking packing early is smart; don't hurt yourself and more importantly, wear yourself out physically and mentally. Have you been looking for the 100mile markers? I didn't at first because I forgot but around mile 300 my daughter reminded me to stop and take a picture. I would like to suggest stating in the title your starting mile marker and end mile marker so folks have some idea how many miles you hiked. Since I hiked last year I have a good idea but others might find it interesting. Safe hiking.
Ugh! More snow! I was so weary of it once I wrapped things up last week. Loved that section with all the streams and waterfalls. It was a nice change of pace from all the ridge hopping. Concerning the title of this video... NERD!!!! 😁 ~StormDasher
The graves were cool. No engraving no fenced area? My brother works for Lafayette La state library & just did a wonderful video on their famous Cemetery. Not out on their site yet but soon.
Several great views here. 11:34 my fav but all good-you do a great job of stopping and finding shots, quick pans, etc. The judgment and care is obvious and appreciated! As far as Rivendell goes, if you hear hoof beats behind you, dodge into the bushes.
It’s always great to see the trail thru others perspective. Enjoy your Valentines Day the best you can with the knowledge you have planned for a great get together with w wife tomorrow. It’s always nice to have people on the trail to help your plans come together. Even though we are just mice and men who lay our plans. Enjoy the beautiful trek that awaits!
@@5StackHikesI loved the Arthur Carlson character. When he came in and said "I swear to God, I thought turkey's could fly", my wife and I were laughing hysterically. Good Luck, Rick
WKRP was a great show, I always felt bad for Less and his duct taped office outline. What a great cast of characters. Is the Mrs. planning on meeting you along different parts of the trail? There are some great sections to hike together.
I am enjoying watching your AT hike. God Bless. I don’t comment much because I watch on my big screen TV.
I wonder how many viewers were old enough to remember the WKRP show with all the characters? Another wonderful hike with much information love it.👏
I definitely remember Loni Anderson lol
Beautiful hike today! 🙂 I love the waterfalls and the water crossings! Take care and soon you will see Peggy!! ❤️⛺️🥾🇺🇸🧗♀️🎈🥶
Beautiful hike and nice video and pictures. I really appreciate your frequent photos.
Really nice hike! You really moved it! Seems you had significant motivation to achieve your overall plan. Good on you! Thanks for sharing.

Those are PERFECT raccoon tracks. They often sell nice track bandannas in NP visitor centers....sure to find one in Shenandoah!

I am going to look into that!
Solid hiking… WKRP reference was 😂… I’d say raccoon tracks.
Wednesday, February 14th: Nice hike. Great waterfall. Thanks for sharing. Happy Trails! Ross08
Can you tell me what kind of gift you have and what it weighs? I like the idea of using it inside the shelters.
"gift"?...may have been a typo.
Bivy! Gotta love auto correct

Thanks. I need to celebrate milestones better. Will try to give folks a better idea of progress/miles.

Guilty as charged...hope you are having a relaxing time back home.

I took the shot over the back fence... I assume there was engraving on the other side. The plastic flowers & the snow caught my eye.
Long day today. Nice section..I also would like to see Laurel falls, other than on TH-cam blogs... Happy Valentines day.. Blessings and safe trails

Perfect trail today. A little bit of everything.😊❤
Beautiful
WKRP's turkey giveaway was one of the funniest comedy show episodes ever. If you can remember it, you are old. Age is an achievement. Good Luck, Rick
Yes I am old. Also, I lived in Cincy in the late 1970s.
@@5StackHikesI loved the Arthur Carlson character. When he came in and said "I swear to God, I thought turkey's could fly", my wife and I were laughing hysterically. Good Luck, Rick
Looks like Raccoon to me. Enjoy your hike with your bride. Looks like the weather will be a good for you both
It was a big raccoon, for sure!
Early, no bugs, crowds, I see many pluses. Of course NY travel is closed with big snow storms… the trees look beautiful.
Good trail today with views and waterfalls. Doing great.
Raccoon tracks
Big Rocky!

I hope there are more meetings, but it won't be for a while.
10:52 that’s a really nice waterfall!!
Sitting here watching you and eating chocolate chip cookies 😜
My understanding on the Turkey Drop (WKRP) is that it was based on an actual event.
Need to change your name to Strider. Knocking down the miles. Stay safe
Those appear to be the tracks of a small orc. Be careful.
We did that section SOBO last April. Such a pretty hike! Then went NOBO to Laurel Fork Falls and then Boots Off!
Good one!
