I don't think perjury regarding the abuse can be compared to 'so much research on sexual abuse and mental health'. One is lying, the other is something anyone can have an opinion on. There's no real connection, it's 'OVERWHELMING SWITCH' in public opinion. Since no one could ever prove their testimonies, I guess public sympathy will be the deciding factor.
