Rob Kearney is someone who's had pretty good success at taking power and technique and putting them to good use and expression in the overhead events. He does use a split jerk, but it's a pretty shallow one and he still has a ton of overhead strength.
It's awesome seeing a work set during these instructional videos. Seeing someone perform an exercise with 135 sometimes just doesnt get the point across. Amazing shoulder strength
why? arching is not going to cut as much range as you think until you get to ridiculous chinese powerlifter levels. building pecs, getting a wider grip, are gonna shorten your rom much more and much more efficiently time wise.
I think there should be no jerking in strongman, completly strict hinders to much and is even harder to judge, so a solide push press should be the best compromise. IMHO it is also the best compromise between upper- and lower body power in one movement. If you look at Olympic lifters, their upper body is not nearly as massive compared to strongman, since they got rid of the press. A guy like biby who did a (crappy) push press with 260 for me is the most impressive example of overhead work i have ever seen.
You talk about shoulder mobility for pressing. I have poor shoulder mobility and the front rack position is very difficult for me. What can I do to improve my shoulder mobility, especially in the front rack position
Lat stretch is the big one. Getting the shoulders to round forward while you support the bar. Grab something above your head and hang, shifting your hips into that arm. Should feel it all down your ribs. Specs can hinder movement as well; hanging 10lbs at the bottom of a fly position works well. After that, put 95lbs on a bar and hold the rack position for 30 seconds at a time, driving the elbows up. If only I practiced what I preach...
One thing that worked for me is doing front squats in the front rack position with straps to anchor my hands to the bar. Got it from an alan thrall video.
Mate, 365 x 4 is no joke. Strong AF.

Next video request. How to program the log press. When/how often to use push vs strict. Or a whole series on programming strongman events.
Rumor has it that even Lasha cannot pronounce his own last name.
Great video. Best strength knowledge channel on TH-cam.

So modest with the log. You truly are my nemesis.
Haha, Salter told me what it actually weighed... broke my heart.
@@AlexanderBromley all wooden logs lose weight each year. I think this year it was 260?
@@StrongmanTaylor Mike said it was 265 this year. But when they called it 300... it was a year or two removed from it's last weigh in....
@@AlexanderBromley pretty sure the year you competed was the first year that log was used and was built for that show.
Great info.
I bench 180kg but my ohp was only 85kg, focussing on it now Lets see what Will happen 💪💪💪
Any tips on thoracic mobility? I wanna have a stupidly large bench arch edit: spelling

Step 1: Practice benching on a foam roller
Step 2: Buy a singlet with kittens on it so you fit in with everyone else in the USAPL
Alexander Bromley thank you i will bench 405 now

What is the best way to strengthen rear delts? I don't think any of the complex barbell lifts hit them that well.
Barbell high pull with snatch grip
@@kimsamuelsen3033 face pulls, any type of rows, band pull apart, rear felt fly etc
