My friend had a very tormentive mom. He wanted to avoid eating meat for a while, so she packed him nothing but lettuce and refused anything else. If he made his own meals, she would throw them or give them to his lil’ sis. She would also lock him out of the house at 12 years old. She thought it was funny. There were many times she would do this before school so he wouldn’t have his bags or homework. Very quick into our friendship I started making him lunches, both vegetarian and vegan friendly. He ate both with tears in his eyes and said, “thank you”… Additionally, one day, his mom locked him out of the house during a blizzard. He was scared, barefoot, and running to every door up and down stairs. She would run to every door and pass me and lock the doors before he could reach them. I was inside his home, scared of his mom but finally got the balls to push by her, unlocking the door. He fell inside with his feet frozen stiff. Years later, he starts skateboarding… and didn’t see a car coming (specifically, a dark grey SUV). I took the bullet. Pushed him out of the way. Thankfully all I needed was a leg cast, and yeah I got a lot of rage from my own folks… but he was like a brother to me, and I was like his sister. We had each others backs. Until we grew up… now, we just kinda do our own things…we still get along, but that’s just life. He became a devout Christian and pastor. I became a bodybuilder and kickboxer. I became rougher around the edges, but still encourage him in his teachings. I may not be related to him, but in both our eyes, I’ll always be his big sister.

He was scared, barefoot, and running to every door up and down stairs. She would run to every door and pass me and lock the doors before he could reach them.
I was inside his home, scared of his mom but finally got the balls to push by her, unlocking the door.
He fell inside with his feet frozen stiff.
Years later, he starts skateboarding… and didn’t see a car coming (specifically, a dark grey SUV). I took the bullet.
Pushed him out of the way.
Thankfully all I needed was a leg cast, and yeah I got a lot of rage from my own folks…
but he was like a brother to me, and I was like his sister. We had each others backs.
Until we grew up… now, we just kinda do our own things…we still get along, but that’s just life. He became a devout Christian and pastor. I became a bodybuilder and kickboxer.
I became rougher around the edges, but still encourage him in his teachings.
I may not be related to him, but in both our eyes, I’ll always be his big sister.
In Australia, the fries at mcdonalds are ALWAYS cold, and you can taste the fat and how gross they are cold.
