I absolutely LOVE that engine. Its the biggest Beta I've seen installed ! And the TEAM that put her in was as slick as I've seen, just no goof ups, and very attentive. Excellent team ! You've put San Andres solidly in my heart forever. I absolutely love that place. Someday I'll go there ?
It’s been a long road to get to this point. Congratulations 😎 Enjoyed watching the engine test and yes, it brought back memories. Thank you for sharing 🙏
Captain Rick The best oil additive for your new engine In my opinion is Prolong engine treatment. Treats the metal, not the oil. Great for diesel engines.
Captain Rick, you do know that the Kabota dealers can fill the need for some of the beta parts esp. filters and belts. Could be easier to find in some of the out of the way places you may go. Be safe keep her so.
If someone rebuilds your old engine I would love to know what was causing the cooling problems. I realize you are probably happy to be rid of it, but there could be some valuable information in the old engine.
@@jimturpin6503 Sand most likely…I’m assuming he’s using raw water intake. Which probably means the cooling jackets in the exhaust manifold were getting clogged and scaled.

No computers, and ease of repairing in remote locations without having to fly in a licensed service tech for computerized models that shut down any time a sensor is triggered.. Not having that BS on my engine! :)
@@SailingSophisticatedLady I was working on a comment about break-in procedure & was wondering if the head bolts need re-torquing etc. Then I was just like ehh keep it simple..lol
Capt. Ron, The visible vibration looking at the engine from the front (pulley side) may very well be normal. I personally do not have ANY experience with BETA 85HP. If you were to send a video clip of the engine running at 1500, 2000 and 2500 RPM to BETA MARINE and get their opinion if it looks OK to them would be a good peace of mind, and good to know. I am sure they have seen that particular model run hundreds of times during their own installations. It would also help to do a video UNDER LOAD and in NEUTRAL and see what they have to say. I am not saying there is anything wrong because I have no personal experience with that particular engine but I have plenty of experience (good and bad) LOL with others. It sounds wonderful.. Sail in good health.
Yes I think so also, especially once they realize the serviceability issues, or rather 'non-serviceability' of the new engines in remote locations, and by anyone other than a 'factory-certified' technician.. translation = EXPENSIVE!
@@SailingSophisticatedLady Yup, basing the engine on Kubota with their world-wide agricultural and industrial distribution was a very smart move by Beta.

Not to throw any shade on you guys as I enjoy your channel immensely. But the engine is too high up on Anti Vibration Mounting pillars studs this will add to vibration and shorten mount life. Easy fix just shim under AVM’s. Great motor you will enjoy for years.
