Jess don't worry. I love you, you keep being you, you two make my day. I'm on a sail boat and it has never had as much fun on it as you two are having on yours.
You need to lose the sugar scoops, add new transoms and mount a 15 hp on each, along with a hydraulic helm system. With twin screws you will be able to turn within your own length.
The hull speed in knots equals 1.34 times the square root of the waterline length in feet. This boat will never go much past 7 knots unless it gets up on plane and I don't think it's designed for that. The speed you are getting is great and it's not overstressing the boat. I'm glad you made it to Jacksonville. Once this COVID-19 thing is over maybe you could meet up with some of your subscribers and Patreons. Need to get the Patreon support up to 100. Jess was the only one with a brain in her head during that undocking maneuver. Both lines started in the wrong corners, at least she moved the bow line to the correct corner.
I hope ya"ll have plans on updating that little workhorse of an outboard motor! I understand money is probably tight but that will greatly help out when you do. Keep on keepin on!
Haha, hung over in a jacket and jammies! Awesome 👍. The currents in Morehead are challenging, glad you got a calm day to get by there. Big storm coming? Ominous! Looking forward to the next episode.
In the next port you get too find someone or somewhere and get a piece of alum pipe . Cut slits in the pipe and slide it over the tiller handle and put hose clamps to tighten on the handle .
Here is a SWFL update. We had another cold front blow through SWFL this weekend. We have had lots of fronts this winter. The Bahamas have been hit with high winds too forcing the island mailboats to stay at Potters Cay in Nassau. It has been mighty bumpy on the windward side of the islands. Warming trend the next few days. I am going sailing south tomorrow to help a customer get started on his annual Bahamas trek. We did a partial rehab on his DC system and everything is up and running. Boat is a little 26' Hake by Seaward with a fully retractable keel. You can put it on a beach. I hope you are warm, wherever you are.
Moorehead port. I spent many many weeks/months there while in the Marines unloading ships coming back from 1st Gulf War. Ran across that bridge many times.
Hey guys, about your outboard you need to get a cheapo rpm meter/hour meter that you just wrap lead around spark plug wire, see where rpms are wide open, if rpms are low less than about 5000 then drop prop size down, it might even get you more mph. The standard prop on that outboard might be bogging down motor. I had to do this with my boat.
One of your followers gave you a list of things to check on that engine...i will add 1) check the prop real close for dings from hitting something...2)does the motor cutting out possibly coincide with low fuel in the tank? If nothing shows up after checking everything you really need to get it to a certified engine mechanic...you still have a long way to go...and start changing your oil at least every 25 to 30 hours or your going to lose it...good luck you two...we are pulling for ya.
I've been doing a little research on my way north. No one ar Jekyll Harbor Marina has seen you. This is a super convenient fuel stop. I didn't see you going along in GA. There was a lot of heavy rains and then wind and now crazy currents from the full moon. I've passed Charleston so you must be holed up some place. Sorry to have missed you two!
Guys! Make sure to keep close to the shore. If you go further out, the Gulf stream will get you and it will not take you to Florida😁 Cheers and thanks for sharing
Ah, the next adventure of our intrepid sea-dogs. Between the current, winds and wakes, that motor worries me that it may not be up to the task of getting you to the promised land. I'm going to be soooooo relieved when you find a better way to power your cat. I am still left wondering what you are going to do for a sail mast. Last I saw of it, it was driving away from the boat yard. It makes sense to demast for low bridges on the waterways but did you have it shipped south?
@@mauricepowers8079 yeah, i remember that too but if they're working on the cat in florida...shouldn't it be down there so that it can be refit....just a little confused as to if they plan to sail back north just to get the mast.

For the love of god man... PLEASE TAKE THE BASIC BOATERS COURSE! Watching you get out of the dock was painful. All you had to do was leave your stern line on with a fender against the dock and put the engine in reverse and it would have pivoted you right out of your spot and pointed you in the right direction.... or on the bow and forward to push to back of the boat out and then reverse into a larger part of the marina...seriously... take the basic boaters course.... it covers all of this type of stuff and is like $25....

That poor little outboard is probably ready to give up. Its been run wide open for several hundred miles, pushing way to big a boat. I would put atleast a 15-25 hp on it. Something is wrong with the timing or fueling if it keeps dying and sputtering out after hard use.
