My husband started a chiropractic business last year (talk about great timing) and this is totally where we are. After bills we have to get creative to afford food and gas. It's hard because our kids don't understand, especially when they heard us talk about how it would get better when daddy graduated.... Seeing that y'all have made it to the other side gives me hope... thanks for sharing.
You'll get through that Hun. 3rd world girl present, it's a normal struggle around my country but we're able to make it. It makes you hella stronger, and prepares you the most for the future once you get past it. Hoping the best for you and your kiddos. They'll understand one day and be grateful about it, we've all been there.

My dad was/is a Developer and builds homes for a living. We were in a very similar position in 2008/09. We lost nearly everything as well. I’m so glad to see your family doing so well now :)

I love this! Even as a widow I never want to worry about my food supply. This family is such an inspiration in these uneasy times!
I have always kept at least a month supply of food in the house because I worked 7P to 7A for years and hated grocery shopping. But over the past couple of years I have upped my game to a 3 or 4 month pantry. I purchased an LDS Prep manual and it has really helped me hone in on what my family needs. I also only prep what we actually eat and use. Rotation and using your stock really is the key to success. Over the past 20 years I have only had 1 can of tomatoes go funky and 1 can of pineapple - I say that is not bad. Job loss and illness are a real thing and having my pantry really helps me insure that if needed we could shift grocery money over to bill money to help keep the family going in times of need.
This family is so beautiful, I like how everyone helps around in putting the groceries inside and I love how organized everything is!!

I remember back 2009 and I did coupon shopping for your family. I got really good at it, so I would bring stuff to your house. I wish I could coupon like that again, but things have changed. I was so happy to help your family, things do come up. In our family we had medical debt from a illness that I have, and my daughter has the same disease. She watches your video’s. This is great that can do this for your family, My daughter remembers going to preschool with Lilee.

Today was my last day at work. It really stinks that it's right before the holidays. Momma's are SO strong! It always amazes me that God seems to put us through just as much as we are able to handle.

Tiff, you have become a true inspiration to me. I am currently going through a divorce, a single mother of two and just lost my mother two weeks ago whom was my world, not to mention she helped me raise my children. My father died 8 years ago and losing my mother has really thrown me in a deep depression and I’m trying my best to be strong and stay motivated to be the best mother and provider I can be. I also take care of my younger brother whom has bipolar schizophrenia. Yeah, it’s rough. I’m working part time and looking for a full time job and I want to go back to school so I can truly support my family without the struggle. Watching your videos have truly helped me through these past few weeks since I found your channel. I know our Lord has a plan for my family and I and our struggles will guide us to our blessings. I have to admit that Im a bit jealous of how organized your pantry is. I try to keep my shelving units that organized but it's a never ending job of straightening and reorganizing. I love your large family, only seven of my own but I love watching larger families for tips and tricks.

a good addition would be a big supply of tvp or textured vegetable protein.
its stored dry and you can rehydrate it as a healthy mince replacement/extender. You mentioned your family loves pasta, adding tvp to your sauces really boosts the protein with a nice mince texture and its really cheap!
Real meat would be better. TVP long term is kind of unhealthy and it really doesn't have a very good texture or, as far as I am concerned, flavor.
@@TazaTime it's not unhealthy or unsafe long term. In emergencies you take whatever you can get so if they don't eat meat OR they can't find them, TVP is a really nice idea.

Popcorn stores well & is an inexpensive treat. Also fills empty tummies.

I so enjoy your sweet prayers and thoughts for those in need. I stock up a little every grocery trip on things on sale for long term like pasta etc. and take advantage of a monthly veggie haul in our local area which has 60 pounds of veggies for $12!!!
My sister in law & her hubby have adopted 26 kids plus 5 of their own. All kids need love & a safe place to call home. Bless you & your hubby for doing this.

Girl, that room looks amazing! I only have 8 kids and my whole house looks like that! And yes, food storage is a HUGE blessing to have! We have food storage, but since I’ve bought it, it’s not safe for my celiac kids. Makes me so sad!

I'm trying to build a food storage for a family with celiac and egg allergies. It definitely makes it more difficult and expensive!

@@annaleeplumb6727 yes me too! I have one daughter who is celiac and egg free. On top of that she’s my pickiest. It does make it harder. I’ve got about a month supply right now but I feel like it’s not much variety
We have Celiac disease, and lactose intolerance so I have found cooking my hamburger with garlic and onions ahead of time and freeze/ thaw it as I need it.

That really speaks to me. I had the same thing happen in 2010. We also lost everything during the crash. I remember sitting in the parking lot of the grocery store as well trying to figure out how to buy milk. I had to weigh options, and I bought the milk from my daughter but I went hungry for a while. I was only able to buy bread and peanut butter for myself to live off of while I supplied food for my family. It was incredibly sad and difficult. I was afraid to ask for help. I’m 100 times better now. But the food insecurity is real. It’s the worst when you don’t know if you can feed your kids and that becomes the only focus and can’t focus on anything else.

You are such a big help! When I start having my kids you are a life saver . You have the best tips and you really know how to prepare for any situation!
What other prepped things do you feel are important for your family? CB radios, a Berkey, solar phone chargers, an old school washboard, vegetable seeds for a garden in a moisture controlled box, water purification tablets, cookware for over a fire, life straws in emergency bags, reflective vests in emergency bags, hot hands if the power goes out in the winter, extra firewood ready, a solar powered cooker or fire pit outside, candles, lanterns, extra gas for cars, etc. I find this really interesting and informative. I know Somers in Alaska sometimes talk about things they’ve prepped because they are at the end of the supply chain up in Alaska and I find that so interesting. I’m not a huge preppier myself, but it’s informative. Also are you getting one of those fold up into a closet beds for your storage room? I forget what they are called. Murphy bed? Is that it?

i genuinely know the feeling. december of 2021, my town (here in the philippines) got hit by a super typhoon, the strongest one in decades, no water and electricity until february of 2022. stores we’re lacking of water and other essentials, the line to the gas stations are super long that it actually takes an entire day to get gas, christmas and the new year was spent wth no lights, and water was extremely scarce! it actually makes sense to stock up once in a while because really, you never ever know. to me it was a scary time for me and my family. to be spending dinners with only a candle lighting you up is something i would never want to do ever again.

My husband and I are starting to buy meat in bulk and freeze it because of the way the food prices are rising. Also, starting a garden in a green house, making our own bread and starting to can food. It's the only way to save and have fresh, healthy food on hand. There are 7 of us and it will help us save so much. Kudos to your family for doing this.

Thanks so much for the storage tips. My husband put up some shelves in our laundry room for us to use as a pantry. I found bugs in the pasta and rice packages before one year so now I put those items in plastic bins and put bay leaves inside. Works great! I buy the small cubes of beef and chicken bouillon instead of the cans or cartons to save room. 🥰
I just lost about $1k in food from bugs from sams club that came in rice and beans noodles. Smh. Sad. I’m starting all over again now and freezing stuff. Bay leaves were in the buckets that bugs hatched in. Didn’t work :(
@@atthecrosshealing Newer research from BYU and other extension sites is that bay leaves only work if you weren't going to get bugs in it anyway. Best to go the extra step and do vacc sealed jars or mylar and o2 absorbers from the beginning. Were you able to claim your lost food on your home owner or renters insurance. I've heard from other people they were able to do so.
@@TazaTime no I don’t own a home. And the bugs came from Sam’s club and they’re refused to replace any of it.
You can refrigerate or freeze your pasta. It actually keeps really well
The bugs are usually already in the food. Best way to combat them is to freeze your grains and flour for 12 hours to kill the eggs then take it out of the freezer and store it wherever it should go. Don't mix it up with grains and flour that haven't had this treatment. If they have bugs they can transfer onto the new food.

I am a single person and when I built out my basement I put in a cold room, built wooden shelves to hold my canning. I also built a can rotation and storage unit that hold about 280 tins. When the shortages happened I was able to hunker down, stay away from stores and went "shopping" in my cold room and deep freezers. And when one of the kids phoned to say they were down to one roll of TP I was able to mail 30 rolls out to them (squish the rolls to fit in a small box). The peace of mind you have is so worth it.

@@NotEnoughNelsons And always keep your vehicle tanks full. With what is happening in British Columbia, Canada they haven't been able to get fuel trucks in and they are limiting people to 30 liters of fuel (7.9 gallons) and if they don't have an alternate heat source they could be in real trouble. And this is the towns and cities not touched by the floods.
I understand what you are saying. My ministering always teaches us to stock up for a 6month supply with everything you use and need. So I get it. That's what I do. Even if you single its good to do. That's including remind products soap and all. God Bless yall!

Hack for saving food is buy maybe 3 snacks( mini Oreos,Twinkie’s and chocolate bar) and tell the kids when we run out of snacks there’s no more till the end of the week and each kid is restricted to 3 or 4 snacks a week

I have a list of everything we go through on a yearly basis because our income is seasonal. And I will buy what we need and put money back for the things you can't keep bought up for that long. One thing we started doing was also including buying a fifth as well to have on hand for emergencies. You can always vacuum seal it or store it in mylar bags just in case. That way we have it for when times or tough. I have a household of 9 and I been doing this since 2007.

There are only 2 of us and we have 3 fridges and freezers. Plus we have the restaurant grade shelving stocked full of food. I do donate to the church for their Wednesday Dinners and to the people who come in for food. We also are stocked up on all the toiletries, cleaning supplies, you name it, we have it. My oldest daughter comes over and does her grocery shopping out of our home sometimes. LOL
