Man Amel that's top notch. One thing to keep in mind if you make that front end too heavy finding springs to hold it up may become a challenge. You might have to bolt on a F150, F250, or F350 suspension to the front....LOL
I probelly would not have planed the project like that, BUT a new prospective is a Good thing. :) I would be curious as to what the stock sheet metal thickness measured in it's thickest spot.... Seems 1/8in / .125 / 11ga would have a 30% weight reduction...and be stronger than OEM sheetmetal..... But you knew that... :)
Oh man, there are so many possibilities to go about, but the cheapest was this way since i have full donor car. I’m already thinking about next project and ways i should go. Fully committed now and will see it done this way. The thickness of oem frame was 10 gauge, but I’m no really worried about weight, i did chop a lot more of the frame, old control arms, full round beam that was 1/4”, I’m probably 50 pounds over with all this. If not same.
All the best for 2023 Amel, your vehicle collection kicks butt!
Thanks Rick, same too you.

I’m pretty much at same weight with all metal removed and new one placed on. Old control arms, springs, cross member were heavy.
@@AmelsGarage I'm sure you will be fine...Those s550 cars are Heavy....Heavier than the Merc.
