Sublime changes and wonderful playing, amigo! 🎹🎶🎵THANKS, KH! Always a blast to traverse the ebonies & ivories with you! PS - you're right re. key of C vs. key of Db - while those flat/sharp keys have their own special flavor, it's easier to grok the harmonic relationships in the tune & changes while starting out in the key of C - even for those of us who have been playing our entire lives, IMO.
Always great to hear your comments, M. I realize that my students are often beginners, so I try to play in easier keys. It may have sounded better in Db I admit. Loveya, K
A very interesting view point. Yeah Kent-talk about the soloing on a saxophone. Now i am a sax player and this tune is one of my almost daily warm ups and the listeners love it. But let me hear your thoughts please. That will say that i have played this song at least 2000 times. I am 80 years old. But this just shows that the genius in this song is deeply fascinating because of the freedom of choice within a framework that is still left open to one´s personal choice.
We are the same generation, brother. The fascination is how the melody and chords work together. You on sax can do things with the melody that a pianist can't do...and vice versa. However the song is a work of genius...and I'm glad I could give you my take on it.
It really makes my day when I open up TH-cam and there’s a new video from you. Another great performance and lesson. Thank you Kent!
Thank you so much!
