You've never seen the control panel for Asteroids, Defender, Stargate, Front Line, Tron, Space Invaders or Missile Command? They had convoluted controls, lots of buttons or both.
I remember the rescue music in Jungle King being the tune heard in Jungle Hunt.. I played this game for hours because the 4th stage had the exact same pattern for all 4 stages. The vine stage turned you "old", meaning you barley could jump from vine to vine.
One of the first depictions of "love" that made my tiny mind feel funny was beating Jungle King and getting kissed by the girl. Was HORRIFIED when I later only saw the Jungle Hunt cabinets around. I guess Taito got in trouble for using Tarzan's yell, and weren't going to go to the trouble of convincing a court they didn't actually mean for that to be Tarzan lol.
I've probably been in 100 arcades in my life and I've never seen a "Pirate Pete" game! Talk about getting the most bang for the buck as far as using the same base code over and over and over again! I wonder how rare that game is?

Man, whoever is playing in this video could really do with a bit more practice, especially with the timing when jumping from rope to rope... And why on Earth would you actively try and touch the bubbles in the water stage? That's just dumb, as demonstrated in this very video when you get killed by the crocodile (TWICE!) because of it. Anyway, great games, great memories, great video.

Gotta love how Pirate Pete uses ropes to get to the other end of his (incredibly long) ship instead of just walking.
Maybe he's afraid of getting splinters, since he appears to be barefoot. ;-)

A great game from my childhood, when things were more simple a joystick and one button. Today 100 buttons 4 joysticks analog, digital.
A few controls but the games were really difficult.

Those damn Taito games almost always had sweet tunes. Sometimes I still hum songs from some of their 80's cabinet games.

Something I just thought about - this is the only game I can think of off the top of my head that scrolls left instead of right.
The arcade game Kung Fu Master scrolls both directions as you pass different levels of the temple.
Well, Castlevania does too, but those are in buildings, so they don't count :)

taito made double dragon. that was not a dumb game. it was by far the godfather of the beat 'em up genre.
