I came across some lines Adam Howden says for a character in Fable 3 and decided to make a thing. Hope ya like it. Despite the title, I guess some of these things are rather in-character.

Adam Howden is honestly so good. He obviously is a stellar actor based on his performances as Shulk alone, but I had no idea he had this much capability. The guys amazing!

I'm allowed to... just like something, or just prefer one thing to another. You shouldn't be questioning why, you should just accept that. If I said in a Cafe "I prefer XC2 to XC", I don't expect someone to ask "Why's that? I demand to know!" I expect to to just accept that. Maybe appreciate that my opinion differs from theirs. Oh and, for the record, those examples I gave ARE true, and I do dislike Star Wars.

Heads up, I HAVE done what I need to do. While I lack having played the game very much at all, the characters and combat are still in my brain:
Firstly, the importance of battle mechanics being related to the story is something that's glossed over in nearly ALL video games. Take WoW for example: Stabbing something once should be enough to kill it, but you have to stab it three times, yell at it, bite it than "execute" it twice. This isn't a downside, but it is a plus in Xeno 2, that does accomplish merit in fighting cutscenes, usually after bosses. The idea of the Blade creating a block-textured shield around you to prevent MOST damage makes the combat feel believable, and, to this day, I still find the only game to do this better is Beyonetta, where combat is actually MORE entertaining to play than to watch.
However, battle mechanics are much better in Xenoblade Chronicles due to the optimisation, diverse options and simplicity, allowing room for the game to be more challenging than XC2, which it is. And, the biggest advantage XC has in battles is that you are only managing three friendly characters and the enemy, whereas in 2, while there are three characters, they each have numerous supporting characters (blades, obviously) that makes the combat harder to learn with less rewards. But, in XC2's defence, the difficulty curve is far better, with the first major challenge being Brighid. The curve lets you sympathise with the characters and, especially, Rex, since the combat feel so natural that you feel like you ARE fighting the enemy, rather than playing a character who fights the enemy. The onslaught of difficult boss fights towards the end helps you realise that the world IS a stake and WILL end if you don't do something about it, which is why the final boss' easy difficulty helps make an image in your brain: He has lost ALL his allies, he is down to his final weapon, he knows he is going to loose and he knows he's not the biggest problem; just a setback.
I also find myself appreciating the talent put into the characters. The only visually differing character in XC was Riki, the rest all being somewhat humanoid and boring. Dunban doesn't tell me what kind of character Dunban is. He just looks like a guy. I wouldn't expect Shulk to be somewhat immature and his voice doesn't look like HIS. In chronicles 2, however, there's an abundance of awesome characters that you can create an actual bond with. Yes, there is only Tora as a major difference in party member looks, but than there's Boreas, Floren, Dromarch, Pnuema, Finch, Godfrey, Brighid, Gramps/Azurda, Pandoria, Poppi, etc. They all have great VAs and look they way the act. Poppi and Mythra by far have the best arcs, with Mythra trying to put the blame on the people she shouldn't have met in the first place but then learning that they HAVE to get along, before getting to be actual friends, and Poppi's different models LITERALLY DEPICT HER GROWING UP! And, her VA really sells to us that she has the mind of a child, and soon an adult, AND her relationship with Tora and her being obtuse to the fact that Tora is kind of a bad person that is still friends with her brings forth how perfectly Poppi works in the game's story. You feel that every story character IS important. SPOILERS HERE........... Vandham's death isn't something that could be done by anyone else. Vandham HAD to die to prove that this isn't all fun and games anymore, and then Mythra awakens, further pushing that Rex HAS to get better and HAS to succeed in the end. Seriously, say any story character in XC2 and I will prove that they are important, yes, even this games Nopon character. XC Nopon wasn't important and, lets be honest, has an over-the -top VA. Ahkos would be a functioning characters, but his backstory NEEDED Patrona.
My final point in on music. While no game has accomplished interactive music quite like Pikmin, XC2 manages very well. The base battle theme working for smaller, easier enemies, rare enemies not having their own them, per se, but having a more dire song, proving that they have earned a name for themselves. The music works in climate, as well. Theosoir (which is weird to type because my name happens to be Theo) is the only area that has an automatically playing theme with English lyrics, albeit slow and hard to understand ones. This sells the fact that the area is a deep, ruined city in a country in peril. My personal favourite song, simply called "Argentum (day)", which plays in Argetntum... in the day (duh) makes you feel at home, which is good because it is a place Rex knows very, very well. It also makes you feel like you're in a busy shopping centre, which is why the night theme has such a good contrast. It makes you feel like a days at an end and the shop owners are taking their last customers or packing up. "Exploring the Wastes" (I'm not certain on that title) helps sell that Mor'Ardain is in power, but is still harsh and dying. Why? Well, the big thumping start, end and middle with a royal sounding texture conveys that whoever is Ardainian is proud to be Ardainian, but the slightly slower build ups give a breather and help the player take in the dying atmosphere, but is quickly made up by the thumping royal music reminding you that, while it grows old, Mor'Ardain is still as mighty as ever.
Now, don't get me wrong I don't think the music in XC is downright awful, but it is a hell of a lot simpler and far, far fewer memorable tracks exist. The basic battle theme and whatever the mechanical fight theme is called are the only battle themes that stick, but they do so like a thorn.
And that's kind of what XC is to me: Okay at most times, but when it's good, it's really. But, this is a problem when I remember that XC2 is just constantly really good.
