Honestly, what did it for me on jsg was his take on kyle rittenhouse. He legitimately thinks kyle only got free on “white privilege.” Wish I could find the video but I guess he took it down so no hope of ever finding it.
Yah that blew my mind. You could tell he didn't watch the videos or trial, just like he didn't read the actual wording of the FL bill. He just downloaded NPCupdate and doubled down mad when challenged.
Rittenhouse being white probably did help him, but that doesn't change the fact that he was justified. If Rittenhouse was black, he'd still be justified, but would probably be treated by the police very differently. Cops treat black people like shit because Republicans don't care and Democrats needs them to be treated like shit so they can constantly promise them that they'll make things better in order to get reelected.
Maybe I didn't keep up to date with any of his shenanigans before that. But his Rittenhouse take made me unsubscribe.

I don't think that JSG's love of comics is a grift. He's too knowledgeable on some subjects for that. Rather I think it's just that he doesn't like the Punisher in particular (I think he even says as much in that video) and so where usually his knowledge is on point he instead fell short and revealed his intent to simply shit on the right.

I am an atheist but JSG views on religion are pretty insane.
I'm religious, and I get the feeling that most Atheists are much more agnostic than anything else. What JSG is is _the_ definition of an Antitheist; not someone who simply doesn't know or cares about if God exists or not, but someone who absolutely starts frothing at the mouth in sheer vehement hatred at the mere suggestion that God _might_ exist.

When JSG had his "Think more than one step ahead" moment, I commented that not a lot of people were bringing up the fact that the production staff likely witnessed many, many underage girls performing sexual "dances" before landing on the ones they hired and that I thought no matter what their intentions with the film were, that they should all be put on a registry. JSG replied with this and I apologize but it needs to be seen in full;

I then didn't see anything of his until the Maus being banned debacle. I figured since he'd be talking about a comic book that this would be more like his original videos that I subscribed for. Just saw his take on the Parental Rights Law in Florida and decided to check this out after unsubbing from JSG. Guy seems to have serious issues when it comes to protecting Children.

Since he admitted he was queer (really, gay) in the past, I honestly think he was a victim of an abuser, at some point, and has psychological trauma tied to this. And since he's so strong to defend abusers, I suspect it might be his father or someone he has strong emotions to. That's my hypothesis, at least. This happens a lot to child victims of abuse.
The sad thing about JSG is this: That thing about him has always been there, every once in a while it would surface to take a subtle pot shot at Christians, or conservatives/right leaning people. But it happened so rarely, you could overlook it as part of the joke or routine in how he roasts everybody. But 6 months before Nick beat his breaks off, he was getting weirdly more and more blatant about shoving his dislike for said groups.

How does anyone expect these same teachers to handle delicate subjects with kids AND be better role models than their parents. The teachers schools have (at least a public schools) are mixed bag. I've stopped watching JSG's videos a while ago, and couldn't quite put my finger on why.
Thanks for putting to words what I've been feeling for a while and couldn't quite articulate to myself.
The only thing I got out of this is that if I fight a lawyer without any legal experience, I’ll lose my mind.
I mean if you fight a lawyer, say "I won't ad hominem" (do personal or character attacks meaning you'll focus solely on which has been said or done) and then fail to do so, you'll be dragged down for failing to meet your own standard.
I dated a lawyer for about 6 months and OMG it was infuriating. My "Exit interview" from the relationship really got under her skin too because I was having none of her manipulative word play. She would start an argument and then immediately act like I was a hostile witness on the stand. If i remember correctly she even yelled out "Objection" a few time during arguments she started for no reason that I could tell by what she was saying. She just wanted to argue. 7 years later she still can't figure out why she is single.

JSG essentually wanted to be a new pastor of the church. The way he always structured his videos was exactly the same was as every wokest comic pro he criticized. He made blanket accusations about "This is what they always do" to one side and only said a hand-full on the other were bad. He obviously was doing this to guilt his fanbase who in most part were disenfranchised to beg him for forgiveness. He can't debate anyone in these fields though. Anytime he does, he gets knocked off his ass to then run to make a video bitching about it, even when he lied and never wanted to own up to it, even doing everything to call Rekieta a supremacist without actually saying it, since he made a name criticizing people who did that. That's when his respect started to fall and then came his biggest blunder which has lead to his audience waking up as he just stopped caring to hide it and is now on full cope after getting called out for not reading the bill or more likely with his track record, lying about it because of his own bigotry.
A holier then thou attitude, wrapped up in calm demeanor is still terrible.
He really does come as someone who truly believes he's morally superior because he doesn't support the "evil church and government" and knows better than the lowly peasants, despite the fact he's constantly making excuses for pedophiles.

Bro, maybe it's just a cool design? I genuinely didn't know it was a Punisher thing for years, because it's just a cool skull design, and didn't grow up around comics at all. It's not like a swastika, where it only really has 1 use. Skulls are used as parts of designs everywhere all the time. The big divide is when Socialists say that Capitalism (really free trade but let's just use their language for the sake of this argument) is evil when it isn't. It isn't good or evil. It's amoral. An evil bastard can use the idea just as well as any good person could. The problem is we aren't even anywhere near close to free trade or their Boogeyman version of Capitalism. We're far closer to Socialism with the ridiculous regulations, fees, and all the other crap businesses have to deal with. A lot of the small business owners I know were over the moon with what Trump was doing when cutting regulations because they could actually make money and worry about Corporatists ruining things for them. Competition is generally the best regulation.

Yes I will say Socialism is evil. At best all their followers are stupid or ignorant and at worst they're absolutely evil. I've seen this shit enough times to know how it goes. Their doctrine calls for the abolition of basic human rights like property and handing it over to the state. A state with no checks and balances. It also doesn't get the basic philosophy of the west. That's not even mentioning how terrible Marx and his pals were. That especially makes a lot of Socialism make sense.

I remember reading the comments to JSG's Punisher vid, and most were saying how he misunderstood the character. Not being familiar with the character, I shrugged and clicked off. If I had gotten to the part where he started accusing us of wanting cops and soldiers to dominate the left in a civil war, I likely would've unsubscribed right then and there.

Eh. It's a two way street. You have to be careful with that line of thinking or you end up just like them. Never blindly support or accept authority, or those that claim to be authority. I have respect for first responders/military, but I'm also realistic. They wouldn't do the job unless they got paid. And the people who have the real power are paying them to do what they want. Don't think for a moment that those same cops/military wouldn't ever train their barrels on you if they were told. They would. JSG is an idiot and can't seem to rationalize his statements. Ever. He always goes to an extreme. You can't respect something, but be wary of it. It's either blindly accept authority, or fight the power. No in between.

I believe what his point should have been was "don't ever trust authority to decide what's best for you and don't ever blindly support them. Have respect for those that do the job, but realize it's a job for them and they get paid to do what they're told to do"

@@shadowofhawk55 Doug wanted to do other things that weren't Nostalgia Critic, and in doing so he lost a lot of his fanbase. He eventually went back to doing Nostalgia Critic reviews but he never really obtained the same hight he once had. Also, a few years ago after all of that, some of the people who work for him were accused of sexual misconduct by former employees. It was a total HR/PR nightmare caused by Doug being incompetent when it comes to actual running a business.

I used to be fairly close friends to JSG ( and I still would be if he hadn't stopped talking to me) and for the record I'm on the left politically and I get his impulse to try to be principled to both sides but yes his arguments have become increasingly disingenuous or poorly thought out with obvious issues with context etc etc and moreover he decided to largely isolate himself rather than address counterarguments ( against his stated principles) so yeah I'm speaking as a left-wing anti-SJW who knew him personally and even I see him as slowly becoming more deluded and I find myself both annoyed and feeling bad for him

In contrast, the right spreads all across the spectrum from left-leaning (but identifying right-wing) to center and hard right-wing too. Modern leftism demands conformity. I love Rackets, but I thought, at the time, the whole "He's a Commie" thing was an exaggeration. I'm re-thinking that now. The thing is, JSG _was_ a reasonable, approachable voice calling out the stupidity of the morons ruining pop culture. The slide into activist derangement was extremely subtle and gradual. He was very good at the, "Hey, y'all loved it when I called out THESE guys, but not so much when I do it to YOUR side, right?" argument. And I'd sort of immediately wonder if I _was_ being hypocritical if I objected to his takes. But then the Cuties thing happened, and he just kept doubling down on it, and the Choir thing was the last straw. The grift was good, he managed to hide who he really was for a very long time, and he did a great job of monetizing us. Nick was right. Again.

It was always infrequent pot shots, so many people seemed to chalk it up to just jokes or such. That was exposed as definitely not the case once he started going full "Amazing Lucas".
Always be weary of that argument tactic. It's one that ppl use to try to make you question yourself. They take that stance to make themselves seem like they're who they've always been and it's you that has changed.
i used to be a subscriber to JSG believing that while he was left leaning that he had a sense of self awareness to see both sides of the coin and call out things that were OBVIOUSLY messed up or downright silly, i agreed and disagreed with the guy but still respected him up until the point that when he started his downward spiral and literally became salty and downright toxic about being called out lashing out at anyone who didn’t fully agree with him 100% and attacking christians for being christian regardless of wether or not those who believed in christ even follows all of the traditions or buys into the catholic church’s scams, because some of us actually believe in christ but actually pay attention to what his teachings were actually about, fighting corruption, helping the sick and poor, working hard and honestly and being a GENUINE good person.. not just saying “Look at this good thing i did I'm such a good person now you should like me!” it was at that moment when i noticed how he lost he sense of reasoning making also making salty parody shorts taking shots at people who called him out on his bullshit shows to me that he abandoned all sense of pretending to actually give a shit, especially if you watched his review on the superman radio show comic, calling out conservatives and saying how people were complaining and that “i should learn my place and stick to what i’m good at” almost downright insulting his critics and insinuating that they are trying to silence him and keep him down…..

Modern Punisher is horribly written. That's because writers today do not understand moral right and wrong, and cant comprehend someone standing up for what's right even if the Justice System failed. It's the same way they constantly treat Batman as if he were some revenge obsessed mental patient.
Bingo. Punisher isn't supposed to be a self-moralizing psychopath, and Batman isn't supposed to be Punisher in a bat costume; if you can't see Batman empathizing with a grief-stricken child, then you've written a fundamental part of him wrong.

Oh... I didn't realize it on the first watch: It's The Spoony Cycle, because Noah Antwiler basically has much of the same issue of getting lost in politics, with the added issue of Spoony conflicting with his fanbase in different ways.
I was able to move past the bad takes and skewed political takes, but when he started to insult the audience I was out. His takes about tokenism in media was cool until then, then he just sprinkled his hate for people who don’t agree with him into his content.
