    Hi doc. Could you give further information please as you use the bar, thanks.

    Now that time has pa what are your thoughts on this bar?
    Too flexible??

    looking forward for a long term review. Actually i'am undecided , to buy this or the aero version. The aero looks sick, but the weight side seems to be more important at least for me. The only doubt is the resistance since the roads on my city are junk, and my type of riding (aggressive) i don't think is going to help regarding his resistance :lol:

      Was in the same boat as you. Went for the X-light eventually because while the aero indeed looks really good, I wanted to keep a more classic look. Besides that aero advantage is so little that not even all pro's ride with aero bars so for us it would indeed be more about the looks (not unimportant 😊)
      The X light also has very narrow tubing, so I guess the difference in aerodynamics is even less? Anyways, the bar definitely flexes more than my alu bar. It's quite noticable when I (80kg) stand over the bars, hands on the drops, and jank on them. They move vertically by maybe 5-7mm. At first this had me a bit worries but if you ride the bike normally that little bit of movement isn't felt at all even when sprinting (my 3sec power on smarttrainer is 1100W). It just get's lost in all the other movement of you and the bike. I feel like that little flex even helps me on the rough Belgian roads because I used to be prone to cyclist's palsy but so far haven't felt anything of the sort.

      @@doc_Louis awesome thanks for the infos. Btw the aero gains are mostly 2w for a normal body and 2+w for a narrow body (probably not more than 2.5w or 2.7w) that's why I believe the light version is much better than the aero.

      @@doc_Louis do you think that it has a danger of cracking? I am 65 kg, and I ride on hilly routes. I wonder can it handle some heavy braking while going downhill?

    • @doc_Louis
      @doc_Louis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sandinista70 Definitely! You're a light person and braking downhill doesn't put nowhere as much stress on the bar as my 80kg ass standing over the bike and yanking the bar in all directions 😅 This bar is well made and thoroughly tested. Such a low weight inevitably comes with some loss of stiffness but it's still a solid bar!

    I am tempted to pull the trigger on these bars. Is your review on the way? or to put it shortly, after some mileage, do you recommend these bars?

    • @doc_Louis
      @doc_Louis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Short review is coming probably next week. In short the bar is great value but they cannot change the laws of physics: less material means more flex. You do only notice it however when in the drops and more towards the end of the bar and really janking on them during a sprint. (I'm 82kg) These bars are great if you don't expect 160g bars to be just as stiff as 260g bars.

    Any specification of the maximum tightening for this handlebar anywhere?

  • @logojones96
    @logojones96 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey! Curious what torque you used on the shifter clamp? My first set cracked and I’m being sent a replacement. Wish there were torque recs online somewhere !

    • @doc_Louis
      @doc_Louis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn it cracked just from the shifter clamp?? That's not really assuring lol, hopefully just a rare manufacturing error. I just did them hand-tight.

      Same here. Decided to replace shifter position and noticed they squashed under both of them and under stem clamp as well. I guess many people will never see it and ride like this. Applied torque was 4-5nm max - just enough to secure them.

    does it have holes on either side near the sti clamping area? thanks

    Being that light, can i know the torque settings which you used on the stem face plate ?

    • @doc_Louis
      @doc_Louis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tbh the bar kept slipping up on me so I kept tightening the faceplace until I couldnt no more. Still slipped. Turned out the sandpaper-like coating on the bar to provide grip had come off and was acting as a slippery dust between bar and stem. Cleaned that out and with some carbon paste it's been good so far just hand tight.
