In my town in Florida, you can't trust any of my A/C repair guys. They all end up saying you need a new compressor unit. I had to call this guy in the next town to get somebody I could trust. He came out with a $30 fee for gas and he fixed our unit for $390 not $1,900 like the others. The inline dryer had a leak and all of the Freon leaked out. He put a new dryer in and Ibs of new freon and also checked for leaks. It Works great now.
Company called “Sameday” heating and air bought out the company that installed my (fabulous) mini split, they’re buying up lots of independent dealers in the area. I asked them (cause I thought I had to go through my original company for warranty, but that’s actually through Mitsubishi, not them, luckily) anyway to come out and do a yearly maintenance/start up for the summer mini split and my Trane furnace. They pulled a classic “you have a crack in your heat exchanger” scam! Called another guy, he came out less than two hours later, removed the back of the furnace, we visualized the entire exchanger..it looked pristine..he examined it also with a scope on the undersides we couldn’t get to, and we both felt the entire thing..the other guys made some kind of mark probably by scuffing it with their camera. I feel badly for older people that get scammed like this, they wanted 3700 to “replace” the heat exchanger, or they could quote “for a brand new system cause that might be the way to go.” Keep up your great, honest work!
@@jessemartinez566 no leak..just a yearly check/startup before summer for the Mitsubishi, and a “put to bed” maintenance for the furnace so I get a clean start up next year. I mistakenly thought I “had” to do it to stay in warranty..I have a 12 year warranty! They even did a flue gas check no CO and still were recommending repair/replacement..total scumbags. I heard them talking, one was training another guy, he said “we don’t clean that unless they’re members,” turns out that was the igniter (which they didn’t think was necessary to clean for a super duper inclusive maintenance check, the second guy I forgot to say who came out, I told him what they said and he pulled it out and cleaned it, and then he refused to take any money at..all..! I said he deserved at least a basic fee for coming out, pulling the ductwork to see the exchanger, using his scope etc he said for a second opinion he wouldn’t charge me, so I gave him a half dozen freshly laid eggs from my backyard girls!
Good morning Curtis. That stuck valve really causing problems. At first I figured the lawn maintenance crew caused leakage. Just another day in paradise my friend.
had a 1971 lennox air handler and 4ton condenser. still worked good. decided time to change out. installing rheem 2stage HP. hope it does as good as old lennox. know it won't last as long.
Anyone can purchase a Filter but as you know well, Renters are less likely to so that’s Why I have bought a Box of Filters in the past and left in Furnace Room. 🤔👍
Destroyed by the valve core? That is an old one, replacement is probably the best route, but if it runs and that was the only leak, I would pay to have it charged up. You just never know.
Curt can you do a review on the newfeildpeice hoses vs the yellowjacket hoses both ball valves and low loss to see which one is the better quality still undecided which one to go for
I really enjoy the videos I'm from the old days before all this new equipment I sure wish you would explain more of what you're doing while you're doing it.. and like this unit you never did say what was wrong with it I'm not sure while you're dressing Mars and reading readings please explain what it is you're reading and looking for any and all explaining would be much better thank you
LOL...not if the service port has a brass hex cap, it got wrenched down enough times to mushroom out that opening and schrader pin in it to win it! Braze it shut and use the common port that's already there, or braze a tap into the suction line when brazing in new reversible filter/drier. Or just $ell them new unit.
I get some that are just called service Ts. Really good especially like this or when I mess with commercial units that have the ports that don’t let you remove the core and need to replace the whole port
@search_eternal I thought you meant that as a rule of thumb. With the age thrown in that changes everything. But you left out that detail in the beginning. I got you 👍.
It’s a 1992 System!

Where was the leak? Bad Schrader valve?

1998😮 replacement would be the smart way to go😊
Them apartments are cheap. More than likely they won't replace it.

Will find out in part 2😉
A 1992 Model HVAC Repair would be a NO GO for me since the Efficiency is so much Greater whether it’s a Rental Unit or my House. Thanks Curtis!👍🙏
Yeah but it's the landlord who needs to pay to replace it while it's the tenant who pays the power bill. As such efficiency isn't a consideration.
My work won't even touch an R22 unit except for the electrical. No more refrigerant charging. 🤷♂️
Curtis, I just volunteered to be my mentor!

It was the Schrader valve..where we plug in our gauges..that was leaking.
Cool video 👍👍
Thanks 👍
A 1992? A gallon of gasoline and a match.
Hi bro from west Alabama
Hello
@@HVACGUY what up
Is 1992 the price for new drier, pull a vacuum and recharge?
He was referring to the manufactured date.
These days I doubt it would be that cheap.
👍👍👍
😎👍
Do you ask permission to film your clients and their homes? Do they know you are recording them?
Has anyone actually been able to get the valve core removed first try😂
I had to get my core remover once because I put gauges on the equipment and started leaking but it came out easy.

What was the schrader/service valve adapter piece you screwed on?
Not the apion core remover, the other brass piece at the end of the vid.
Thanks

When it's at 0, it's time to replace.
Why? Even if it's 3 years old?

Meg the compressor while it has nitrogen in it. If it’s reading good, fix it and move on.
clean up your work service a little, those needles were in your way... what a waste of time..
The owner got screwed if she brought that unit
The entry looked like a duplex, probably a rental.
