The fact that she won, and it's her first time making shrimp and grits (together) shows that she knows her way around the kitchen. I won't judge her for making instant grits in her everyday because we all busy but i was side eyeing her at the start when she said that 😅😅

Instant or quick grits take a while to cook, if ur cooking them to be smooth and creamy, they should change the names of the grits, ain’t nothin quick or instant about it😂😂😂

They should have a shrimp and grits competition based on area., Charleston vs. New Orleans vs. Savannah vs. Florida ( Northern Florida/panhandle)
These shows are usually based on one area and they have people come to them
So they’d have to get lucky for all those people to be in the same area and actually be from those places born and raised
As a GULLAH Girl. The Louisiana shrimp and grit are the best-looking, most traditional way of making them. 👏🏿👏🏿

The size of the shrimp in the second dish was very small, lol.. Where were they 😆? Jaime's shrimp and grits looked delicious. Phil was so funny 😆.

As a person who likes to cook with love, and really enjoys good food, it’s nice to see how Jordan recognized the story behind Jamie’s dish. Jamie mentioned that she went with what she knew and admitted she had only just started making this recipe. She made it with love and intention. Love that. ❤

Y’all know y’all like to resort to the word “soft” as if being “hard” is compliment, in our community neither is really good for us. While I think they all made did well, I respect that people felt as they did. Likely different backgrounds where respect was shown in particular ways than what others are used to. Especially watching these, it’s good to see people valuing respect. To add, most people are giving Jamie her props for her kindness, something that a lot of Black folx struggle with. We tend to be sassy or roast. So, it is refreshing to see straight forward kindness from us.
Jamie was so kind when judging. Glad she was humble and won. I wish there would be an added clip of the winners cooking the food they created. I definitely would love to try Jaimes recipe lol.

As someone from NYC, I have eaten grits with butter for breakfast as a "southern thing" in a restaurant as a side, but never had grits with shrimp. These looks GOOD! Now I want to try it!!!!

Shrimp and grits is one of my favorite dishes ever. Sometimes I make an Italian version and use polenta instead of grits and cook the shrimp in a garlic, Calabrian chili, parsley, butter sauce. I’ll cook the polenta in half and half for like 90 minutes and finish it with salt, lemon zest, butter, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The polenta is so velvety, rich, and creamy and the Calabrian chili adds a nice bit of fruity heat! Great way to switch up an already legendary dish.

Thank you Jamie for not saying Cajun flavors! I am over everyone thinking everything from Louisiana is Cajun. Aside from boudin and andouille, everything y’all love about our food is African based, thus not Cajun (Acadian). Rule of thumb if it is seafood or rice based it’s Creole (African based) , if it’s road kill and bland, yet hot as hell at the same time it’s Cajun or made in Opelousas 😂😂😂
They literally give them credit for everything NEW ORLEANS is creole or African go east for CAJUN

Congrats to the winner, it is not often that I get to actually see someone win because it was a great dish, they usually win because they got less criticism than the others, not because it was all around good dish like this one. Bravo.
