I love this show. I wish I had access to it when it was current, but alas... I live in the US. lol My dad was a trained Paleoanthropologist, he would have absolutely loved this series.
I've never figured out WHY Mick Aston hates Roman archeology. Anybody know? I've watched so many reruns and I've yet to run acrossed one that says why. So curious.

I love these top 3 videos. A great way to show themes.
Yes, you get a better idea of the problems they have but also the benefits for the archaeology that waterlogged digs can bring 🙂

We get it in the USA. At least in the republic of Texas
I'm a simple man; aquatic digs are my favourite digs.
Have you seen the episode "The Wreck of Colossus" around the Scilly Isles? Can't find it anywhere. . .
@5:27 - Flat-bottomed barges make the Roman world go round??
Nice Thanks.
This was an amazing dig. Thanks for sharing!
The Fort at Grand Portage Minnesota has a tower just like the one in the beginning.
Circa maybe late 1700.

When they are looking at dendro dates they are looking at the date the tree was cut down. Not the date of contruction.
Thank u for that info.. blessings
wonder if the Dutch will ever dig out the whole boat?
Maybe in the very distant future, but not anytime soon. It's perfectly well preserved in the ground.

I think it’s just that he specialized in other eras, like the Neolithic.
Thanks/.
i liked mick when he was a twig and not an floating dendro with a diploma
It’s not even a river! It’s more of a creek! Let these guys come to the states and get a look at the Mississippi
