So pleased to see this tent being reviewed! I’ve had a couple of Tamars spanning 30 years (yes, they’ve been around all that time) and they’ve changed very little. Superb little tents to get you started, I still use mine for garden camping when we get heatwaves and the house is too hot.
Mine have been up and down Brecon, Snowdonia etc and lots of festivals - great tents! Once when camping in Carrog there was a storm that destroyed lots heaps of expensive tents and trailer tents - my wife and I slept through it :-)
Used this tent on my motorbike trip really was not expected a lot from it. I got the red one. I was so easy to put up and take down had some really bad weather and no water got in worked great for what i needed it for
I'll say on my use of the Tamar 2 tent ; iIve had one for years. It has never failed me. It's about light enough to carry with a backpack/bags for one person.
Ive used these on tougth hikes for years ,totally water proof ,handles strong winds and is light enougth and roomy allso , ive used in the beast from the east of 2018 and no problem , i used candles under clay flower pots to keep me warm in the epic snow storm .
I've got loads of tents from the Akto down, I love my 5 year old Tamar 2 and not because I was brought up beside the Tamar river but because it's a class tent. I've done 45-50mph winds in it but anything higher would be a bad idea. Also great to hear the name pronounced right.
I love my eurohike tamar 2 , used it in a few videos , had it down to -3 and in some heavy rain bursts , handled it no probs , not had it out in strong winds but ! Good review 👍🏻🏕
Hi Mr Wild Wales, I bought one of these tents off ebay for £42.50p they retail normally for £102. 50p - It comes seam sealed. I tried it out last week in the lake district and found it did the job. For a budget tent it is excellent value for money.
Great review mate. At the moment the Tamar 3 in blue which is obviously a bit bigger (30cm higher etc) is on sale in go outdoors for a bargain basement £49 cant go wrong for that price Change the pegs for alloy and if you want replace the pole for alloys ( about 30 quid and a bit of diy) and imho you've got a bloody good little tent for under a ton
@@MrWildWales thanks, they are on offer in Go Outdoors at the moment. Really happy with it. Was our first overnight in the garden and stood up now problem to the wind, no problems with condensation and stayed pretty warm. As you mentioned though it was isn't the longest inside so if you are 6ft+ it may be a struggle.
Great video, I think you really nailed it with this review. I have the Eurohike Tamar 2 tent and love it, the tent has seen me through some great trips out into the Peak District and Anglesey camping as well. Stands up well to heavy wind and rain. I hope from seeing your review that more people buy and benefit from this fantastic budget tent. One question - do you think using the fly sheet only would work as a tarp to set up with a bivvy? Been considering this for a while as something new. Great channel. Liked and subscribed 👍
Nice one bud yeah I think you could easily leave the inner out if you wanted to give extra space. You'd have to be more careful not to touch the outer and get wet though. Thanks for the sub!
Thanks for the footage of this .....I bought one last year and i will use it this year .....not too confident in putting a tent up on my own but I'm sure I will be ok :-) cheers!!
I got the tent up ...phew !! Only thing I didn't like was the poles the string should be tighter in them but all in all an easy tent to pitch :-) thanks for your video again it really helped
My first and only tent is a Eurohike of this style. 27years, and it's never let me down, until recently the zip gave up (good innings though). I prefer pole in grommet corners like this has, over the keyring corners. Also like that it's not blackout material.
Haha Best comment of the day jezzzzz 100 quid isn't going to break the bank to loose 1.5kg when your paying 50 for a load of shite What have you been smoking mate 😅
At this price point at Go Outdoors I ended up buying the Vango Nyx over this, which I regret as there's no room to sit up in it being a tunnel tent. I think weight was the deciding factor between the two at the time because I needed a light-ish tent that would fit on a bike pannier and the Tamar is almost a kilo heavier.
Yes not a good quality tent despite the brand name. Hard to find a budget tent that's a good balance between weight, ergonomics and won't fall apart or leak.
Thanks again, I had a great weekend in this tent despite the wind and rain, why do people pay hundreds of pounds for tent's ? Could have done with a bigger porch, vesta thingy.
Good review. I have the Eurohike DLX Backpacker which although similar, is longer and not so much ventilation. I have not had a problem with condensation and find it warm in winter on top of Dartmoor. It also costs a bit less than the Tamar 2. I leave the inner attached when packing away which is another bonus..
It does look good that tent I was considering getting hold of one to review. I normally hang the whole lot to dry with inner attached then pack it away as one 👌
Good morning Adam and happy tent day! Loves that this was a budget tent review, but you also captured what and why it was a budget tent, ideal to get started and find your feet with, and hopefully soon learn what you do and dont like about it, you can then save and upgrade as you go 👍☕♥️🏕 catch you soon, Ceri and Kat
Glad you enjoyed it there's certainly a few upgrades you could make on this yourself and an ideal starter tent in my eyes. In fact my brother is coming camping for the first time soon and he is going to have this! Thanks for watching
I like the Eurohike gear as entry level kit! I bought the Eurohike Toco 2 as a laugh for £15 but I had it on a mountain (Ok big hill and 5 feet off being a mountain) and worked a treat for me 👏
Nice design, not bad for a budget tent, as long as you know not to take it out in bad conditions. The biggest concern I would have is ventilation. Very few vents and the fly comes almost to the ground. It looks like a hot box. But you would know better than I.
My first non-canvas tent was a Eurohike, it was a good tent - strong, roomy and warm. It was a little heavy at 4.5kg but it was a 3-man and had a 3rd pole making a bigger porch, it was good value though. I still got it somewhere but the poles will have cured so much that they would probably snap if I tried to put it up now. I may soak the poles in oil and give it a go.
@@MrWildWales Tbh I don't know but it works on some plastics. I use teak oil on all my old car's trim, it replaces the oils lost over time and stops it becoming brittle (looks nice too as it makes it black again). It probably doesn't work on fibreglass but I'll give it a go and stick it up on the weekend.
@@MrWildWales Managed to put it up today and no poles broke, forgive my memory but it's the Eden 4 although in my defence barely room for 3 lol. Fabric is very faded but feels good and more a discrete colour for it. The sleeves will fit ali poles but not sure it's worth it as it's £70-£90 to upgrade which is much more than it cost originally and have a better family tent anyway. Saying that I probably will replace each pole as they break as the fly looks so good.
I have the Eurohike Backpacker DLX 2, same materials as the Tamar 2. Love the overkill floor, and for a budget tent it really is great value. BUT - If Eurohike would've swapped the fiberglass poles and steel pegs for aluminium poles&pegs, and put a nylon 4000 mm HH flysheet on instead of the polyester, it would become simply amazing. For such a version, Eurohike could easily compete with Vango and charge Vango prices. They have the design quality, that's for sure.
@@MrWildWales Definately, especially Eurohike's fiberglass poles are really heavy. Switching those to aluminium and changing the flysheet to nylon, could propably save about 300-400 grams at least.
I got mine from Go outdoors for 45 quid , does me fine mostly, it's the red one though so I need to swap it for my green Coleman Bedrock 2 when I need to be stealthy , its a decent 100 quid tent too. As you say , you don't need a 400 odd quid tent like some you tube channels go on about ..
It's true you don't need to spend a bomb to have a great tent the main thing you're going to save is a bit of weight by spending more but after the £200 mark it's more to do with the name I think 👍
Great review for someone getting into camping again, my Eurohike arrived this morning, do you think you could do a packing away clip with the inside attached? Thanks again.
By the time I'd noticed on the weekend he had packed it away sorry! Basically just take the poles and pegs out and fold it as is. You need it to be perfectly dry for this time saving trick though
Mine has stood up to eight months of Swansea rain etc. Very happy with this tent.
Swansea rain is the ultimate test 😂👌
I have this tent, stood up well to pissing down rain up on the Hirwaun mountain.
The ultimate test - Welsh rain!

excellent straight forward review just bought one many thanks! 👍😀
Glad you liked it!
Had this tent for approx 10 years, it’s been incredibly solid. Mine has 3000mm hydrostatic head though.
I just bought this tent the other day so glad to ur review is good....👍
👍 be careful with it and dry it after each use and it should last you years

Great review, cheap, cheerful yet effective. Thanks for sharing, ATB.

27 years 😮 fair play thats good going
I highly recommend the onetigris tipi nova 1,180kg straight out of the bag 2 manner just over £100
Thank you I might just give that a try because I loved my last onetigris!
But it's 2.5 times more expensive so not a very practical recommendation 😂

Yes not a good quality tent despite the brand name. Hard to find a budget tent that's a good balance between weight, ergonomics and won't fall apart or leak.
Yeah I've got the nyx too I'm only skinny and you wouldn't fit 2 of me in it, and it gets quite uncomftable propped up on your elbow after a while.
Good review. This tent is available now at Gooutdoors for £25. I have the Tamar 3 as I wanted a bit more headroom. Thanks for the video

Great stuff man! It stayed nice and dry for you then? Yeah I guess that's the only thing the porch could be bigger
Just like some people need a lamborghini.
But it's heavy.
Not that heavy really at 2.8kg decent for a stable, warm tent
@@MrWildWales I have this tent and it weighs 3.2kg.
Great video! I see a few comments about the ventilation and it being hot - will it be okay to use in a few weeks at the lake district?
Well if you're just sleeping in it I can't see a problem. If you're sitting in there during the day it may not be comfortable
Looks a great tent. I looked at this but opted for the Eurohike Backpacker DLX2. Its was a tenner more but has a bigger porch and more head room 🙂
