Thanks for uploading this. I recent bought the exact same setup and will be installing soon. Video was really informative. If you put a wide shot of the completed install at the end of your video it would have concluded the video nicely. Great job regardless!
You’re welcome and thanks for the comment! I did the best I could with lack of instructions lol! You will find that you’ll have extra bolts when you are done and those are for the crossmembers on the top of the rack. Good luck!
I’ve got a Roll n Lock tonneau and been searching for best rack to pair with it. Rack and tonneau covers are amazing on appearance alone in my eyes. Just so hesitant in drilling into the tonneau rail covers and bed. 🤔
Same situation here... Got my Gladiator last Friday and ordered the Roll-N-Lock M Series XT tonneau cover... Was searching for a bed rack that would work with it.... this looks like it will... Thanks for the video Trail Expedition!
Nice installed. But I believe and feel you're missing some bolts on the 3 top rails going from left to right to hold it from sliding left to right time stamp 15:01 at least 12 bolts and nuts. there's a long slot with squares holes that could use some bolts.
@@TrailExpedition OMG, yes I hate when that happens. You purchased an expensive item and no directions and then if we installed it wrong/or forget something the company doesn't want to hold their end of the warranty if something would happen. But hey, It happens, No worries, that's why we're here lol.🤣 I might be nitpicking, but I would spray paint all the heads and nuts with an outdoor Flat Black paint. But overall, it looks good. Just Subscribed to your channel, I live in the Chicagoland Area and planning on getting a JT eco diesel. So looking watching these videos helps a lot. Thanks again. 👍🏼👍🏼
It’s not 100% water tight. Car washes and torrential downpours some water does get in. Not a lot. My gear in the back has never gotten soaked. Thinking about added weather stripping to help prevent this.
Grest install my dude. I have an x4s as well and have always wanted to put a bed rack on it but have never seen a good system like this. I'll 100% look into it. Aware of any others?
The rack is made to hold a RTT. I believe the static weight rating is 800 lbs and the dynamic is 500 lbs. I would double check with the manufacturer though.
Just ordered the same cover and looking for a rack system now. Out of curiosity, instead of drilling into bed, why not simply drill a hole in the bracket and install using the X4S's t-track? I specifically bought the X4S for the t-track capability. Also, how tall is the X4S fully rolled up above the top of the side rails? Thanks!
I have the cover and thinking of doing the rack. My only concern though, is it a pain in the ass with having the side pieces on it? So like it you want to get something out from the back of the bed (behind the cab) when you’re camping and whatnot? Thanks!
Thanks for the video.. I have installed the exact same setup to my gladiator.. however while installing the adapters and after drilling and fixing the bolts through the bed's plastic surface.. I noticed some bending on the surface .. did you encounter similar bendings? should be worried about it especially if im gonna install a heavy tent on top of it?
Mine is bent as well as I torqued the bolts down a little to tight. I’m not worried about it at all as it’s just bending the black plastic part down. I’d rather have it extra tight than loose.
@trailexpedition did you have any trouble getting the tonneau cover re-installed? I’m installing the exact same setup but due to the tonneau brackets going under the rail of the tonneau cover I can’t compress it far enough down to get the screws into the welded nuts. Any ideas/tips?
@@TrailExpedition I’m using the tonneau adapter kit from RCI. I called tech support and they told me to pull the rails inward toward the bed to get the bolts threaded into the welded nuts and then torque them…it worked! Well, kind of… I will have to go back and add some weather stripping because the rail will no longer sit flush to the top of the bed. My biggest regret is being impatient and not painting all of the carriage bolt heads black prior to install 🤪
Right on. I didn’t paint mine either. I’m happy to hear it worked for you. I need to do the weather stripping still as well as some water does get in but not a lot.
Are you still happy with this 6 months later? Would you go with it again? Any powder coat or rust issues? I live on the coast. Any leaking into the bed? Are you glad you went with the half rack vs the full?
Yes, it was been a solid rack and I would go with it again. Powder coating has held up great and no rust issues. Some small leaking into the bed with heavy rain but not enough to get anything soaked. I like the aesthetics of the half rack as opposed to the full rack.
What did you select for the 'mounting type' for the bed rack? In the description of the product, all of them are listed as not compatible with the tonneau cover adapters?
I'm not sure how I feel about the placement of that... seems really far forward? Then again.. I don't have one at all.. so what do I know. Lol.. Does work nice with that tonneau cover.. Just doesn't really work with the tent I have for mine... otherwise I'd probably do similar.
@TrailExpedition ok so we can't order longer on the gladiator to have full length? I'm also ordering half height so when we get rooftop tent sits flush
So, they ship you a bed rack piece consisting of thirteen pieces and no instructions. Yeah, I know that you can figure it out not how hard is for a company proud of their product to take a few pictures, or do a short video, or do a page or two of instructions. Not impressed .
Been looking at this and the Putco rack which installs into stake bed holes. This one is better looking tho and lower. Btw the RCI site has all install guides posted as PDFs, including the adaptors…they were probably just saving paper by not including. But they should’ve at least included a QR code or something. You did great figuring it all out tho, and much easier to watch your vid than read instructions!
RCI makes the trail rail adapters plates that don't require drilling into the top bed rail
Yeah I think there may be an option to use clamps, however, I wanted mine bolted on.
Great video. Don't have a Gladiator, but we'll done. Yes, all dads have eyes on the back of their heads! Ha! Good stuff!
I had to leave that part in LOL 😆
Awesome video. Made my install of the same three products a breeze!
Good to hear it went well for you! Are you referring to the RCI rack, BAK Tonneau cover and the adapters as the three products?
@@TrailExpedition Yes. I removed my BAK Bakflip and installed the Bak RevolverX4 along with the RCI rack and adapters.
It’s a solid setup 💪🏻
Well done. It sure is a nice set up with that tonneau cover. The new rig is coming along great!
Thanks buddy! It’s been a great Jeep with lots of options!

Yessir ! Hope it helps!
Thanks for the video ! 👍👍👍👍very good
Welcome! Definitely a solid rack!

Measure twice and drill once. You got this!

You are correct. I did not realize this until after the video was edited. Good catch!
@@TrailExpedition I would contact them immediately and ask for 24 bolts at least. 8 bolts on each rail.
Yeah I have them. Directions would have been nice. 😆

Awesome! I appreciate the support!
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I'm getting ready to move forward with a similar project. How has your tonneau cover held up? Is it water tight?
It’s not 100% water tight. Car washes and torrential downpours some water does get in. Not a lot. My gear in the back has never gotten soaked. Thinking about added weather stripping to help prevent this.
What model is that Deezee box?? I have been looking for that!!
Pretty sure I picked that up at Blains as it was the exact dimensions I needed. Not sure what model it is.
Grest install my dude. I have an x4s as well and have always wanted to put a bed rack on it but have never seen a good system like this. I'll 100% look into it. Aware of any others?
I’m sure there are other options out there, however, my setup has been solid so haven’t looked at others.
I wanted to do this but the drilling into the truck I'd like to avoid
Right on. I know some kits have clamp options but I’m not sure if it would be an option with this kit.
Thinking of getting this bed cover and rack combo. Everything still working as it should? Love the video.
Yessir! Awesome setup and I’m still loving it!
@@TrailExpedition Got the cover, next need to get the rack! Thanks for posting a video of it all together. Made it so much easier for me to decide!
For sure! It’s a solid combination that I’m sure you’ll love. Make sure you get the RCI adapters.
Do they have a bed rack that is cab height and will work the same? Thanks for this video.
Yes, they have the full height rack as well. I opted for the half rack so my roof top tent would sit flush with the cab.
Do you have any info on how to make a tonneau cover fully waterproof?
Unfortunately no. I feel like a little bit of water will always get in.
Are the C shape brackets strong enough to hold 230kg (500lbs) or even more do you know because I'd put my tent on there?
The rack is made to hold a RTT. I believe the static weight rating is 800 lbs and the dynamic is 500 lbs. I would double check with the manufacturer though.

That idea could potentially work! I just started drilling and didn’t look back! I haven’t measured but fully rolled up the cover is probably 6” or so.
Jake, can you explain a bit more as to what you are proposing vs. drilling? Thanks
Hi Jake. I am about to embark on this. What exactly are you suggesting vs the gent did with the drilling. Can you please explain
I have the cover and thinking of doing the rack. My only concern though, is it a pain in the ass with having the side pieces on it? So like it you want to get something out from the back of the bed (behind the cab) when you’re camping and whatnot? Thanks!
It can be more cumbersome to get things that are in the back of the bed. However, the payoff of having the rack definitely makes it worth it.

Are you using the rack adapters? The adapters are thinner metal than the actual rack so it allows the tonneau rails to be installed without issue.
@@TrailExpedition I’m using the tonneau adapter kit from RCI. Thanks for the video. Thinking about this setup for my wife’s Gladiator with the Truxedeau tonneau cover. What length of rack did you go with?
I went with the RCI half rack. Still running it without issue. Thanks for the question.
@@TrailExpedition Is it the 46” or 52” rack length?
Pretty sure mine is the 46” half rack.
Are you still happy with this 6 months later? Would you go with it again? Any powder coat or rust issues? I live on the coast. Any leaking into the bed? Are you glad you went with the half rack vs the full?

You need to buy a separate piece from RCI called the tonneau cover adapters or something like that.
So did you just select no mounting type and buy the adapters with it?
Yes, if I remember correctly, that’s what I did.
May I know what's brand of the Tonneau Cover? Thank you very much
BAK Revolver X4s. I have an install video on the tonneau cover as well.
@@TrailExpedition Perfect! Thank you so much!!!

Yeah the rack can be adjusted further back. I’m good with where it’s at. What tent are you running? I’m contemplating the Tuff Stuff Alpha 2.
@@TrailExpedition mine goes directly in the bed. I have a video on my channel.
Right on. I’ll have to check that out!
Anyone know if this would work with a weather tech soft tonneau ?
I’m not entirely sure because I’m not familiar with that Tonneau. I just knew my setup would work as I’ve seen others running it. Good luck!
After a year, how has this product held up?
It has held up great and I would still recommend it.
Any good no-drill tonneau covers?
I’m sure there are some out there and perhaps the one I chose could be used without drilling 🤷♂️
Do you think it would work with a trifold?
Not so well. Maybe with the higher rack but I’m still doubtful.
What length did you order for that? Looks like wasting out on valuable space not going all the way to the tailgate.
That is the standard length for the RCI rack. I ordered the half rack height as I like my RTT sitting flush with the roof line.
@TrailExpedition ok so we can't order longer on the gladiator to have full length? I'm also ordering half height so when we get rooftop tent sits flush
@Lefishn as far as I know, they are all the same length. However, this video was from a few years ago so maybe they haven’t different racks out now.
Gostei parabéns
Gracias!
You didnt install any crossbar bolts you used them all in your side plates also you didnt install the silver plates behind the rci logo where they go
I realized that after the fact and went back through and put them in.
