    Great directions and the tinning solder bowl is brilliant. I am planning to use these connectors for my Lithium packs for my go cart and others. I was thinking since you cover the leads when doing the one side, you could possibly cover the other completed side still with tape when dealing with a live high current battery situation. Thanks for showing these steps

    Myself coming from using pencil and gun style soldering irons I can 100% tell you that investing in a decent soldering station is well worth the increased ease of use and manuverability for soldering in tight spaces like we constantly find in RC! Nice vid mate, I'm thinking if switching to XT90 from EC5.

    I new to doing this but if it's kinda like guitar stuff I do, don't wiggle the wire if if it's a bit warm to touch. Think I'll give it 5 minutes to cool before wiggling any wire. Got a few I want xt60, got one I want xt90, only cause it'll be 2 batteries and needs a 2 battery feeder.

    Right on this is a great video.
    I am so new to this I have only soldered 2 sets of leads
    Deans and now EC5 which I think is far superior and helps temps stays cool
    What solder are U using is it core flux filled
    This connector looks good will it work good for 4 and 6 s lipo batteries or does one want EC5 connector’s for that much voltage.
    That is a good question what size batteries need what particular plugs
    Deans
    Xt90
    EC5
    Traxxas style plug uno
    2 cell up to 6 cell
    I think I may have a idea but definitely need to learn this stuff
    . 👊😀

    So I was watching this video because I'm going to try and solder ec5 connectors and the pack I purchased are prebuilt.
    I was wondering if there's a way to solder them without melting the plastic casing. Why do they sell them prebuilt if they melt easily?😔 This will be my first attempt at soldering so I'm a little nervous.😟

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi watch the other video I've shot on how to solder EC5 Connectors. They are NOT made of hi temp plastic like the XT90's. If you try and solder EC5 connectors with the pins in place they will melt the plastic. You can do it with XT90's as shown in this video but DO NOT try and do it with the EC5's - I responded as fast as I could on this one as don't want to see you make a mistake. With EC5's you have to solder the pin then push it back into the connector.

      @@DriftomaniacsRC so I have to remove the bullets from the plastic casings and than reinsert them? I'll give it a try hopefully they dont break.

    • @beaglegod1
      @beaglegod1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I tried removing the preinstalled bullets and there is no way they are cming back out. They do have that extra long opening on the soldering side like the xt90s but I'll have no choice but to tray and tim them or throw all 20 connectors in the trash.😩

    I give up with soldering. I have tried over and over and the results are terrible. I bought a Weller soldering gun and a soldering pot. The soldering pot melted the solder just fine but when i dip the wire in barely any of the solder will stick to the wire. My soldering joints look awful.

    • @yg7059
      @yg7059 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      no need for a soldering pot, did you use flux? without flux you will get terrible solder flow. allow your iron to reach the temperature and simply press the solder iron UNDER the wire. then feed the solder into the wire NOT the iron. obviously don’t hold the iron too long to damage the wire insulation
