In my opinion it should be something like
The faster the attackers finish an objective the more time they get, the longer they take the less they get back for the next objective.
It makes logical sense because the longer the defenders hold the more attacking reinforcements their killing until eventually the attackers have no choice but to retreat.
But no we get to ten seconds for them to finish the objective last second and now suddenly they have EIGHT MINUTES AGAIN!
