    „Grazing cattle” … so it is the place that I thought I recognised. 😄 Watching all the Atlantic Rainforest videos! What an amazing place.

    Beautiful Video Simon, Rowan trees always remind me of my childhood as we had a massive Rowan in the garden in north Wales

    Your video camera shows more saturated colour of the forest, so the Simon Baxter softening style brings another dimension. Lovely, thank you.

      Glad you enjoyed it :) Yeah, the video camera's white balance makes everything look very green indeed

    Very fascinated with this series. I have been enjoying the rainforest images. They are a beautiful part of the U.K. landscape and need more protection and funding.
    Another enjoyable vlog enjoyed with a cup of coffee and a chocolate biscuit.
    Thanks Simon 🤩

    Another great episode in this series, in a way a pity it’s already the last one. I find it sometimes difficult to estimate the size of the scenes so from that perspective I like seeing you or Meg in it. All in all great photography, truly enjoyable 👏🏻

    Great work! I just had a moment this summer where passing mist created an awesome scene for just a moment. It's great when things work out that way because it's definitely usually tough to react fast enough! Glad you caught the same moment. Agree with your thoughts on polarizers. There's moments where it's useful but sometimes can make a scene feel way too 2D.

  • @romiemiller7876

    I agree with not using a polarizer of foliage most of the time.

    Amazing location. Can I ask you Simon what specific forest this was filmed in? I’m especially interested in the place where the shot with the oak tree was taken (3:11)

    Great to see you in the woodland again, Simon. I noticed you used negative EV in several of your photos. I was wondering if you could give us some of your thoughts as to why you chose to do that? What was it about the scene that led you to darken the photo in camera a bit? Thank you for taking the time to answer. As always, beautiful images.

    • @SimonBaxterPhotography
      @SimonBaxterPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bruce. Glad you enjoyed it :). Because the leaves were so wet, some of the highlights were getting too bright - burning some detail and bleaching colours. I let the histogram and instinct guide me :-)

    Thanks, Simon for yet another great video.
    The sound of rain hitting the leaves makes me nostalgic. Throughout all September this year we had only a few cloudy days, let alone rainy ones. I wish for October to be better in that regard.
    I loved the depth of the second, i.e. square image in the video. That hazel (?) draws my eye with contrast to the brighter area.
    By the way, out of curiosity do you ever photograph at longer focal lengths than 70 mm?

    • @SimonBaxterPhotography
      @SimonBaxterPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I sometimes shoot over 70mm, but usually only when I'm in Scotland. I prefer to travel light :)

    Such beautiful conditions and lush green. The first couple of images are gorgeous. The overcast indeed helped with softer shadows.
    I have mixed feelings on the 2 trees photo at 12:15. I think if others would have taken a similar photo and presented it, it would be labeled as too busy and chaotic. Only my opinion.

    • @SimonBaxterPhotography
      @SimonBaxterPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you liked the first two :)
      I don't think it matters who took the image, viewers can interpret them as they wish as it's personal taste. It's a shame to label any image, or to dismiss the busier scenes if it's part of the photographer's observed experience.

    Once more blown by the compositions. You're a kind of magician in the forest.
    But in the final images, I regret the yellowish global tonality. It's a bit "muddy". I would have preferred more vibrant greens, like in the video.
    Thanks for the vlog, soothing and inspiring as always.

    Cheers Simon, it’s Sean in Atlanta! This was a wonderful video with exceptional photography, my friend! I could see that you were really amped up with these magnificent specimens! Are you using a new lens? Whether or not, I really loved this one and I look forward to your upcoming Autumn collection!
    I hope your back is holding up. I’m in bed because of mine, but I refuse to stay down! Hugs to Meg…
    Sean
