From a purely user experience point of view I'm very happy they've speeded up the loading of images when switching in the Develop module. Lightroom was very laggy before this update and it was usually quicker to go back to the library and pick the next shot. Little things like this can, in the long run, improve the 'feel' of software more than big headliners.
Thank you, James, as always, for the quick, helpful summary. I am particularly glad to see more progress in LrC's Generative Remove feature. That is saving me some Edit In > Photoshop round trips (and the big resulting TIFF files generated by doing that). I agree that Adobe is smart to be implementing Content Credentials. Has anyone run up against Adobe enforcing its monthly generative credits rule, and what happened then? Did they try to upsell, or just throttle you back noticeably in speed?
Definitely, I think there needs to be more transparency on what images have and haven’t been altered. And I think this is a definite step forward. I’m not against AI but I am definitely against people being deceived by AI and lying about what images are true and false, especially when it comes to real events 👍🏻
I’m actually really disappointed in Adobe this year. Removing an early access sign and tweaking some other existing tools really doesn’t add up to a major update. Well said James about it been underwhelming your the first content creator to actually speak the truth and not try to big it up
@@BublikovAnton lol most years but mostly this year last year I was disappointed with capture ones update but this year theirs is definitely the better of the two
So does this mean that this Generative AI used to remove something is going to tag the Metadata with AI, so that it gets flagged on Social Media as an AI image? I don't much about it, but I find this excessive. They take away my multi-decade skillset, then punish me for doing it fast. I also heard you could save a JPG from Photoshop, import into LR, and simply Export it again, and that will strip the tag. I use Gen AI not because I have to, but because I'm paid to just get it done, and I'm not hourly.
There is life after Adobe. It takes some people out of their comfort zone, but then any change will require effort. Hoist by their own petard and the 'clever?' marketing looks as though it is going to hit them in their pocket. It appears the dismissive treatment and contempt for their customers has opened up the market for new and exciting products which I believe will see a more competitive market. In the end it is an individual choice, one that I have made without regret.
As you say underwhelming! Considering the number of staff Adobe must employ you would think they could come up with a little more than this!! AND maybe fix some of long standing bugs, like for instance when you try to create a new folder like `08.23 Severn Valley Railway War weekend` and it says that's illegal, so you try creating `08.23 Severn` and it accepts that, then you go in a rename the folder `08.23 Severn Valley` and it accepts that and you go through several `renaming passes` and it accepts each renaming until you end up with a folder with the name that you originally wanted in the first place!!!! Just mad that they can keep adding great features but can`t put basic and long standing faults right!!!!!!!! Thanks for this great video.
It's arguably a little picky, but I too have recently encountered that particular, inexplicable bug. Every software developer is guilty of this IMO. They go for new features. They'll fix a bug if an in-house programmer sees how to do it quickly, but others that just annoy a small segment of users fester forever. (I could cite other similar issues in LrC more annoying to me.) Usually there are workarounds, as you found with this one. It's just annoying that they don't fix it awready. I get it.
It depends on the photo competition rules, I know some competitions where they don’t allow any altering to the image so in that case I wouldn’t be allowed to enter the photo I altered. But I know other competitions that allow for AI images, so I guess you’ll just have to read the terms and conditions of the photo competition rules before you enter certain photos
My hardware is top notch (CPU, GPU, RAM), but after the update to LRC14, this software has become almost unusable. It is so slow that it is almost impossible to work with it. I have tried adjusting all the settings, going through all the advices on the internet, but unfortunately nothing helps.

Anyone’s LRC so slow? I don’t know what to do and it’s driving me me crazy.

The photo credentials is really interesting for ai detection as you say

Already has a bug with older masks and keeps resetting the mask so needs updating to 14.1.

@@sounderdavis5446 Yes I couldnt agree more, I think Adobe now have blinkers on and all they seem interested in is derivatives of Generative xxxx?
So as you have used AI in your photo would you expect to be unable to enter it in a photo competition?

When you've been waiting 1 year for 2 new features while paying 120 euros a month is pure fraud. Well done Adobe!
First here
