Could I achieve the same result if I put the flakes in just the clear coat and not a inter clear?
It gives the same result. However, the thickness of the paint will be thicker.

フレーク1カップでこんなに敷き詰めた様になるのでしょうか？
またフレークのウェット吹きには何mm口径のガンを使用していますか？
このクルマでは、フレーク1kgを準備しておいて、結果として約3缶分の500ｇを使いました。編集でカットになったバンパーやサイドステップも別に日に塗装した為です。スプレーガンの口径は、フレークの大きさによって選定していますが、通常1.4mmか1.5mmを使っています。数十年前は、1.8mmを使っていた事もあるのですが、現在は塗料自体が改良され粘度が柔らくなっているので、1.8ミリを使うと塗装面が流れる危険があります。また、11月に公開予定の動画では、フレーク塗装の際に使えるおもしろいスプレーガンを公開します。

500gですとまともなフレークならフレークだけで3万円前後してしまいますね。
ラメ用に1.5mmと2.0mmで悩んだ末1.5mmのガンを購入したのですが口径1.5mmと聞き安心しました。勿論技術もあるでしょうけど1.5mmでも結構敷き詰められるんですね。
フレークバスターとかでは無駄になるフレークが勿体無いので…
これからも参考にさせて頂きます。

I never use a window cleaner.
Wipe it off with a wet towel and it dry thoroughly.

We call it "aluminum control", in my country. They call it a "binder" or "interclear", in other countries.
