Another Texan here. Will try this tomorrow and possibly send to my Texas friends that didn't fare as well as I did this past week as a little mood booster. Thanks I enjoy watching your videos.
Oh Ellen, I have watched you religiously for over a year and a half now, and am just such a fan - and opening TH-cam today to see you painting my beloved Bluebonnets after all we have been through in Texas this week, it literally brought tears to my eyes. I still don't have hot water, and my house is in shambles, but in this very moment, I'm watching you and in my happy place.
OMG so sorry- makes me so mad how they did not handle it well there- we are used to that kind of stuff but not even we would loose power that long or no water.
Thank you for the uplifting tutorials, love the vivid colours and wonderful that you paid a tribute to Texas. More brightly coloured landscapes would be much appreciated by this sick of winter Canadian. Thanks again
Thanks for thinking of us here in Texas, Ellen! After last week’s winter we have to wait and see which plants survived. But as always looking forward to seeing the Bluebonnets!! Love the cute painting!
Funny, i live in Massachusetts but flew down on Saturday to Houston Texas to assist my mother-in-law with her home which had some flooding due to the recent storms. I have been snacking on Bluebonnet Ice-cream in the freezer. I will have to try this painting when i get home and when its as least passable....send it to her.
Just when I’m not sure what to paint, you come out with an adorable Monday mini! Love this. It was easy to paint along with you. Thanks, Ellen! You’re the best!
Ellen, HELLO from Dallas! LOVE your channel and have learned so much from you in the year I've been watching. After our huge struggles here last week it was so fun to see this pop up in my feed. Thank you for sending us Texans some love! :-)
This was an amazing little scene, Ellen! And how appropriate too. I look forward to all of your videos and am so thankful for the traceables you provide for us on Patreon. I’m basically thankful for you, such a wonderful artist and teacher! I’m definitely giving this beauty a try ❤️
When I saw the thumbnail of your video I couldn’t believe it. “Did she really paint bluebonnets!”. Here in Texas there isn’t much we love as much as our beautiful wild state flower. I’m not much of a painter but I might try this one. Thanks so much for thinking of us ❤️
I am in the UK, I have never heard of bluebonnets, thought they were bluebells at first, but no, they quite different. Interesting to see different flowers
I really missed your “tap, tap, tap, tap”. Lol... while painting this lovely Croft surrounded by bluebells... you make it look like a mini masterpiece.......
So lovely Ellen. Definitely have to try this one. I especially appreciate when you zoom in to your work showing us how you are accomplishing a certain technique. Thanks again for another Mini Monday Madness. I look forward to it every Monday!
Thank you from Texas! I immediately knew that was my FAVORITE flower. Interesting fact, there are 5 varieties of lupines, aka Bluebonnets, that are officially the Texas state flower. They grow to different heights and fullness in the different regions. Could you do an up close and detailed painting of Bluebonnets?
@@beaulieuonnp593 yes, they are all wildflowers. They just grow in the different regions of Texas. We just look at them. It’s illegal to pick them from state/public property. They are a variety of lupine. I don’t know if they have any medicinal or other uses.
Love your tutorials, Ellen, especially your mini Monday series. You frequently reference Arches 100% cotton cold press paper but how do you get those lovely layered edges on your minis?
I'm having an issue, which I believe is my paper vs what you've been using. My paint doesn't bleed in well at all, rather it sort of pools and floats. When I try to do washes it streaks, rather than leaving a soft all over color. I cannot blend a sky to save my life. What I have is Grumbacher, watercolor 140lbs/300GSM. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
I use Arches 100% cotton cold press paper- its always in my description box and I talk about this often - yes if its not good paper wet on wet will not work well. However you can just paint wet on dry technique and it will work fine- it will look a bit different - also if your using way too much water its an issue as well.
I didn't know Texas is so pretty!
Beautiful Ellen
So fun!!!! Love the landscape type watercolor paintings!!!!
yay, texas blue bonnets! tfs!
Greetings from Dallas! This is so cute and beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial!
Frühlingsgefühle!!!! Tolle Farben, schön!👍👍👍🤗🤗💚
So cute and beautiful... Easy to follow process for those who want to follow along!
You have taught me more than art...an awareness and celebration of beauty. Not always easy in these times. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
Wow, thank you

Marble Falls, Texas!!!
Love your painting tutorials; can you please bring the painting down when you paint the top of the painting. Thanks
Great suggestion!
That’s an actual building and pasture in the Texas Hill country. I’ve seen it many times.
