PVC is your friend! Just wanted to show an alternative for the DIY minded individuals. Projects like this are super fun. You can use your creativity to personalize it and make it your own.

Thank you so much, Eric. This is exactly the set of ideas I need for my Haige motor tiller extension on my wee Seahopper sailboat. I really enjoyed your presentation, and feel confident that even I can do this! Cheers from Japan.
“ Thanks”! Great idea. I like the two sizes of PVC , looks very professional.
Thank you for taking the time to make and upload this video. Much appreciated!
I really enjoy these types of videos. It is amazing how many things you can make with PVC pipe.
Glad you enjoyed it, Ron. Thanks for the kindness!
Tip: at the end of the two cuts, drill a round hole to stop any potential for the split to run. :)
Underated comment! 👍
Well done man. I was just about to buy an extension. And POW your video popped up. Awesome.
Nice work buddy, very clean...
Turned out great !
An excellent video and explanations were outstanding
Awesome job friend great ideas will defenately try it when i pick up my motor.😊
Just made one. I drilled the holes to prevent further splitting. Rough sanded for texture and better paint adhesion. Thanks.
Glad to hear it!
Super useful content. Keep it up!
Great video gonna try this
Great quality vid and great info!
Glad you liked it!
Excellent
When you paint PVC piping or furniture you need to use PVC promoter primer, then spray on the paint for the best result.
Awesome , thanks .
Cool looking old Ford in your garage too 👍🏻
Put a end cap to keep it waterproof
Doing this now!! Thanks man.
Hell yeah!
How do you add a tiller extender to a outboard that has the electric trim tabs on the handle?
Good video
I used 2 shop vac extensions. 1 slides inside the other making the length i wanted. These are lighter than pvc, fit exactly over my tohatsu tiller. Do the pair of cut slits making it have the ability to be clamped tight. Already black.
What mount are you using for your gps?
Damn good job! im gonna do that also Thank you!!👍
Much appreciated!
Hi from Mexico. Sorry for my english writing. Your video is very good and excelent tip.
I own a 25 hp 2 stroke yamaha, but i dont know what is the name of that accesory to put in fwd or reverse the motor.
My motor is beside of it. But i want to put that more in the front.
Thanks. My respect to you all
Where did you get that plate with the power trim for your motor?
Nice job, bat grip I bet would work nice too
Thanks Johnny! Yeah bat grip would definitely work. Might even be made by Winn... I know they make tennis racket wrap. Electrical tape would work too. Cheap projects like this are fun because you can just use whatever you've got laying around.
moving the gas tank forward makes a huge difference
What sander to the PVC pipe?
ah that overspray accent on the truck lol...great vid!
More like overspray accent on the house since that was the direction the wind was blowing.
AYUDAME a hacer uno para mi bote soy de miami
Tell us about that Ford truck!
Great job my man!
Was looking into installing stick steering for my 11 ft Sundolphin pro120. However making an extension like you seems way easier, faster and cost effective. Thank you bro!
do you have a followup video of you using the extension on the water?
Btw what’s the name of the music track in the background. Thx
I have plenty of videos of me out on the boat with the extension. Check them out if you want.
Stick steer is cool if you have a long boat and plan on fishing solo. You can sit way up front to balance the weight and optimize your top speed.
@@FloBass I’ll check them out…thank you for replying.
Btw what’s the name of the sound track? Luv it.
When he started talking I thought he had started rapping🤣
and at what height relative to the bottom of the boat should the motor be raised when installed on a hydraulic lift?
CMC recommended 3 inches.
Cavitation plate should be level with the bottom of your hull
sorry for bad english, this is not a native language. I have the same Yamaha motor. Which hydraulic lift is better than cmc or bobs maschine?
I've never used bobs machine shop's power trim, so I can't say which one is better.
How did you apply the PVC cement?
I didn't use any. I heated up the larger pipe and slip fit the smaller one into it. When the large pipe cools, it shrinks and creates a tight fit.
How are handling the kill switch cord?
Handles just fine. Its more difficult to make a tight turn, but I just lift the handle up to do that. The chord has plenty of stretch to reach my wrist, but I usually just clip it to a belt loop.
Doubles as a small cannon.
Going to give it a go but use a cap and maybe cut the cap in half so water won't get in the end.
I don’t have any issue with water. Just lizards and spiders getting in there. I should cap it 😂
@@FloBass Yea maybe cut the cap down 1/3 to make it more profile a full cap maybe to much but it might be perfect I guess you could just not glue it, what do you think about making a shallow water anchor pole ? Do you have one you recommend or custom make ?
I've never made one. I have the power pole micro on my kayak and use their stake. You need something rigid to make a stake out of. I've seen people use wooden dowels and curtain rods as a cheap solution.
why couldent you use the heat gun to flare the end to fit the tiller handle instead of using the hacksaw and then use the one hose clamp to secure it thus getting your weight bias forward
How do you press the kill button on the end of the tiller handle with the extension in place? Or do you just kill the engine with the choke?
The kill switch is near the shifter on this motor.
Do u have a link to a steel one I can buy
I made mine because I didn't want to look for a pre-made one. I don't have a link.
@@FloBass did it work good give us an update
I had the boat for about a year after I made the video. It worked flawlessly the whole time.
Put your gas and the batters up front
Now let’s see it in action bro go catch some monsters
better plug the end
It makes a nice home for lizards and spiders
I put an end cap on, no pvc pipe hole with the end cap glued on/in then. Looks and feels better.
Maybe use ABS it’s already black no paint. use reducers with abs glue and cap for end ….Home Depot .
They make pvc pipe reducer fittings.
They also make tools to see when someone likes their own comment...
Another grip option is just tennis racket grip from walmart, super cheap.
tiller extension handles are roughly 16.00 for adjustable 17-32".... how broke are you.........
There’s no way I would trust a tiller handle under $50 let alone $16. Just look at the reviews. In many cases they break on the first use, and that’s not some thing I would want having snap off. This PVC one would be extremely stout in comparison to the ones you’re referring to.
Those are fine for small outboards, very sketchy on bigger ones like my 30, way to much torque on those cheap ones.
I wouldnt want to hammer a pipe onto my throttle handle
that's so ghetto lol
How would you build one for $15 or less?
