Thanks for the review of Newport Rhoad Island.
We will be going there next fall on MSC Meraviglia on an 11 night cruise.

It is great. Just get back early for the tender

We enjoyed most of the Newport mansions in the late. 1990s. They are mostly spectacular in their own way. Our favorite was probably the Isaac Beel House. It wasn't fully retored and not nearly as grand. The architecture was something special. Green Animals had gorgeous topoaries but way out in Portsmoth.
The cliff walk is nice but long, especially with pre-teen daughters in tow. They tan off some excess energy on the 40 steps.

Thanks. That’s great. We didn’t go to that one this time but we will make it happen next time.

I was on the same sailing exactly one week before you.
I don't really remember too much about Newport except that disaster of getting back to the ship is burned into my memory.
So bad, I decided I will do everything i can to avoid tender ports in the future.😊

So without a cruise ship excursion, from my understanding you have to get a tender ticket and then wait for the tender group to be called. You didn't have a super long wait for that? I wanted to get off the ship as soon as possible so i picked early ship excursions for the tender ports, but next time I won't do a ship excursion if I'm still to get an early tender off.

If you are early it's pretty quiet, you can get on one of the first 3 tenders. The numbers keep people in line lol. It gets more and more crowded the later it gets.
