The local community is capable of being resourceful in solving problems & valuing the farmer’s local experiences and methods in handling his farm.

Dr Tan's lessons are never about "we should do this and that". Rather, he always teaches , "WHY, HOW should we do this?" I love the lesson of nurturing the people and letting them lead. Often, we always want to attempt doing things by ourselves, but the whole idea of sustainability is also about teaching the people to do it themselves. That was also the topic of our last lesson in class. He was the Prof who changes a lot of my life perspectives. Truly Inspiring.

Very glad to be able to attend a talk by Dr Tan. His humility, his zeal, and his compassion for society is something I truly respect. He is not just a inspiring speaker, but an action-oriented contributor as well.

Agreed! I worked briefly with him helping out at a foreign workers carnival recently. That was my first contact with him and immediately I thought this man was inspirational.

We are proud of Dr. Tan Lai Young's work. His book an Ear to Hear and Biting the Bamboo speak of his work at Yunnan. He will be always remember by people of Yunnan. What he speaks he works. He is the man who loves the nature.

This man lives the talk. If his stories are amazing, it's only so because he tries to stay true to himself, his God and people. I'm humbled..
