I'm 72 and wish I had followed my father's path as a gardener. He tried to show us ways to garden when we were younger but we never thought it important. He was raised at the end of the great depression and he knew the value of a good garden. He was raised in a two room log shack with seven other siblings in southern Indiana. THINGS YOU CAN'T GET BACK....... I am trying to garden again but again but at my age, I have trouble getting to the ground or even worse, getting back up.....love your show!
Practice on getting up and down & it will help. Athletes always do the same thing every day to become easier every day. The saying goes - use or lose it
I am 69 and I set things up so that I had something that I could push on to help me stand: a foot tall plastic stepping stool at the end of the row worked. Though I have since gone to raised beds so that I can use the walls to help me get up. Having family is lovely: not only did they help make the raised beds, my oldest put up stakes for runner beans to climb up!
I keep a walking stick with me. It helps a lot with getting up and down. Also use an in home little exercise bouncer with hand rail. Has helped with my balance.
I always learn something from y’all. The news I can use today is mulching the fig, and planting strawberry roots in the green stalk. I will pay attention to the water and fertilizer. ❤ and blessings to you two today!
I’ve started late. I’m 53. I’ve dabbled in gardening my entire life. The year my husband moved out (8 years ago), I had the ability to do what I wanted and gardening was top of my list!! I do it with a lot less income but have learned that you don’t need a lot of money to put seeds in the ground. Thank you for inspiring me and teaching this middle aged women about gardening!!!
I want to say "Thank you" for all you do for us. My husband had been "medically discharged" from his job of 33 years after a bad outcome of surgery that we thought would be a simple rotator cuff repair. He has limited movement which has greatly effected his ability to do simple task that I often take for granted. This of course has not only effected him physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. We have watched yall for years (although we don't often comment publicly, we never miss a video - its part of our morning routine. lol), and we take away so much more than you could imagine. Gardening and animals have become a passion for him, but he is very limited to what he can do. He sees the pain, illness and problems yall incur and it helps us realize we can push through whatever we are going through too. Like yall, we are trying to find solutions to our problems/limitations and not let it take our joy. We especially love that you aren't afraid to put God first in your videos. Thank you again. You have no idea how many people you effect.
Danny and Wanda, your homestead is absolutely beautiful.I’m 82 and still raising a garden. Planting more this year and a veto bed would make my life a lot easier to keep from bending over so much.
I, Sir, I'm in East TN & here is not one leaf on the Mulberry tree. Hum, your video was just four days ago. Your Mulberry has full leaves & fruit! That is Awesome, I guess your spring is much warmer in Mississippi than here in Dolly's Mountains 😊.
Hey guys! A LCE (life-changing event) is happening to me. Because of Deep South, Danny, Wanda and my homesteading community, I am ready for what's coming. My pantry is stocked, I converted to container gardening and I'm confident I can generate income once I get settled. Thank you so much 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 People like me need information and help from experienced mentors like DSH!

I have grown up gardening and watching my father and grandfather garden. I am blessed that my 74 year old father has been gardening with me the last 3 years. We work a family garden together. We just tilled our 2024 garden last weekend. I am still gardening in my homemade raised beds and mineral tubs as well. Would love to have a vego bed!!

We love to watch your videos. We have put in raised beds and enjoy canning our produce. We are elderly but are going to garden as long as the Lord allows us.
A Vego garden would be a blessing I’m 71 y old. Lost my baby boy in Aug 2023. I’m doing to start the garden soon. My knees are bad so I have to start doing a raised bed. God is good all the time.
My husband planted about 12 varieties of grapes plus 4 rows of blackberries which keeps him busy pruning and tying them up. Plus now a strawberry patch.
Your wisdom and knowledge is astonishing, I'm changing my ways and learning to become a better version of myself. Also becoming a homesteader myself, going to get into raised beds and green houses. Your videos sure are loaded with all kinds of knowledge I'm slowly gaining, thank you Mr Danny and Wanda! God bless yall!
Snip it and zip it😂 I love my zip ties too. I love that you guys are a little bit ahead of our season because you give me so many ideas. we’re starting a new garden in the front yard ,because we live in the country we can do that, and we’re gonna put raised beds in there.Good morning!

Danny or anyone out there that has tried this before. When you plant the peach tree seeds do you pop the seed out of the hard shell or just plant it all in one piece?
@junkinjodi Put some leaves in a bucket wet them then put several peach seeds deep in the leaves and let them set. Keep moist when they sprout move to a deep container till winter. Then set them out in permanent place.
@@junkinjodiOne year, we got CASES of peaches that had to be put up immediately; some were canned, some became preserves, and some were frozen. I dumped gallons of peach pits onto the compost pile, not expecting anything because we were in zone four (Minneapolis suburbia). Your channel is one of my very favorites because of how informative you are. I appreciate both of you and how much you share to help the rest of us out here. My husband and I have been bitten with the homesteading mindset later in life. We are both 65 now, and though we don't have a big piece of property, we started last year with two raised beds, about 11 pots of different sizes and 3 barrels. We did fairly well for our first year and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do this year. Thanks for sharing Deep South and Pecan Grove with us. I enjoy all your videos. Blessings to you and Wanda.
I Love Gardening, it's in my Blood~! Going on 69, a disabled widow, it gets harder and harder. Would love a raised bed and a scooter chair~! My grandfather was known as the man who fed the world. He cross bread wheat to protect from the Rust, was called crazy, said it couldn't be done, but he did it. They attribute feeding the men on the winning side of WW2, gave us the edge. His name was Edgar McFadden. South Dakota University has a museum and building in his honor. He gave the seeds away to feed the world.
Thanks Danny for the review of both blueberry & huckleberry trees! We are on 4 acres north of Lake Pontchartrain so are climates are similar. This is our first year for the huckleberry. We have planted it hoping for extra shade protection for our chicken run and as fodder. Appreciate all y’all do for us. I’m trying to expand my raised garden area to help feed my husband & myself. My husband has had both shoulders replaced, one knee & recently his second hip. My IgG immune deficiency issue can’t tolerate what is sold in grocery stores so we have to grow as much as possible, or at least buy organic. This spring my husband can’t build more beds, so a Vego raised bed would certainly be put to good use. If I’m gifted one I will surely buy one because it would help us expand from our 4 raised beds. Thank you.
Thank you Danny and Wanda for the opportunity to win the vego garden bed. I woke up to a dusting of snow, so it makes your stuff look that much better today. Thank you for the tour.
Thank you for your channel. As aging people with major health issues trying to grow our own food (73 and 61) i appreciate all your insight! We are going to build a few raised beds each year.
Everything is beautiful! It makes me so happy to see spring is in the air. A VEGO raised bed would make my life much better. It would be greatly appreciated and well used. I have severe arthritis in my spine and 4 discs fused in my neck. The good Lord willing. God Bless Ya’ll for this opportunity.
My husband and I use to garden when he was alive… he’s been gone three years now. I try to raise things here around the house at 73 I can’t do the big gardens like we did … I am faithful to watch your programs and love them. I just don’t comment Mitch. You are such a blessing
We watched this live chat on TH-cam-TV, but were unable to press “like” at first.Thought you should know. It took us four tries. I restarted it on my iPhone, and it was at 18:41 as I began writing this. We are both no longer youngins, and are trying to do more raised bed gardening. We are also building a greenhouse. We have enjoyed following you and getting ideas from your examples. A Vego raised bed would be a real blessing! Congratulations on reaching 300,000 subscribers! 🎉God bless you and keep you in the coming days!
Your fruit trees and bushes look glorious. So many blooms and fruit setting. The azaleas are my favorite spring flower. I just love the colors and the intensity of the blooms.
So happy that God has filled your property with abundance. It's well deserved for the outpouring of love you give to soo many people. I would love to receive a vego bed, reason being, i have a 6 year old with autism and he's the light of my life. He knows his daddy's passion for growing and every time I go towards the door, i hear "daddy let's go to the garden "
I love thos azaleas. So beautiful ❤ I would love a vego raised bed as I had to quit growing in the ground due to double hip replacement and horrible arthritis. I have some grow bags which help so that's good too 🙏❤️🌱
You have such a beautiful, serene place! I really love your high tunnel. I'm 72 this year and am having to garden smarter. Mama and Daddy taught me everything I needed to know about homesteading. Watching your videos feels like I'm visiting family again! Hope you are as blessed as you bless others!
Hearing the birds brings joy to my heart. I always say they are praising the Lord. I feel your joy looking around your garden. Love to have a vego bed. I just purchase a mulberry tree…I am excited.🙋🏻♀️🙏
I am 72 and like others around my age I am going to raised beds. Getting down is easy, falling, the getting up and bending is hard. I would love to be blessed with a vego bed. Your place is so amazing. Blessing to you both and all you do.
My parents are both in their 70’s and love to garden. They have been wanting a raised bed but their fixed income doesn’t always allow for the extras they would like. It would be such a blessing to win the beginning raised bed so that they can enjoy. Thank you Danny and Wanda for all your pearls of wisdom and the time and love you spend to share your journey!!
Good morning. Danny, you sounded like a little kid waiting for candy. You're so happy about the grapes, lol. I am totally with you about zipties. They definitely make my gardening a little easier.
Hello from Northwest Alabama! I'm 70 now and grew up on a farm. I'm still learning every day! At my age, a raised bed would be mighty handy! Thank you for all you do!
Nice to see all the comments about the vego bed . I love seeing the number of older people still gardening. We are in our mid 70’s and we are moving to all raised beds this year. We purchased two vego beds in the fall. I feel called to raise lots of food and share. Thanks Wanda and Danny, this will be an awesome gift for someone. Do to cancer not sure I will get to fulfill my desires to bless others this year. But just trusting in God
Never thought I’d get old 😂 Now it’s too much trying to reach the ground 🤦🏼♀️ Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience, including your new venture into raised beds and VEGO products. Have a blessed day❤
Oh! Showing your Peach Trees almost made my mouth water for a juicy peach. I can’t help but to think that God has Blessed you two with all the big amount of of young berries and other plants that hold such promise of an abundance of food. I’m truly happy for y’all. Much deserved. .
Comments are not showing. I’d love the planter. We just moved and I am rebuilding all new beds. And a new greenhouse!!!!! Boom shackalacka. Soooo much to do!!!! Love u 2. Keep filming.
I have been spoiled by seeing masses of feral and wild azalea and rhododendron bushes in the Pacific Northwest. They also have Himalayan blackberries as an invasive plant so plentiful that the bears, birds, and bugs can’t eat them all, and they dehydrate to raisins on the plant.
My granny taught me some of the old ways. She was a farmer in Upstate NY, I wish now I had paid more attention. I would have done things differently over the years. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us Danny. I'm sucking up as much as possible. The Vego beds sure are pretty, what a back saver. I'm saving just in case I don't win the contest. I'm sure who ever wins will be grateful. Thank you both for your generosity.
My goodness, I love what y’all do. Both y’all’s places look like my conception of heaven. I believe this is the way Our Lord intended for us to live and flourish. GOD BLESS YALL AND YOUR HOMESTEADS.
Danny I am 76 and I know my Daddy taught me lots of things about growing food. You have that same way he did of imparting knowledge to others. Ive always wanted an enclosed structure for growing, but was never able to achieve it, but we do have good success growing in the open ground, so far. Thannk you for being such a Godly man and teaching us how to grow .
Hi Danny and Ms. Wandamy wife a ND I have been watching your videos for the last 2 years. I'll be 69 in a couple of weeks. I built me a poor man's greenhouse 2 years ago and had very good success so far plus I do an outside garden as well.
A VEGO garden bed would be a wonderful blessing; I am retired and after 2 back surgeries, inground gardening is not an option. A VEGO bed would help retain water too in my hot and dry Texas climate. Thank you so much. Your azaleas are magnificent!! So beautiful!😊❤
Danny, I love watching you and Wanda! I always learn something new 😊. I just turned 62. My Momma always had a garden , so I’m not “new” to gardening but just really started getting back in to it over the last few years. We always did in ground gardening but because of where I am, I’m doing more raised bed gardening now. Your knowledge is extremely helpful.
We have been collecting all kinds of containers for years and years. Now that we are getting old these are easier to grow veggies in, but alas many containers are getting old too and will have to be discarded. A Vego bed would be a real blessing. Also, Danny has said container growing is the way to grow rather than in ground growing. Thank you for all the ways you are blessing everyone with your wisdom and kind gifts. May God bless you abundantly.
Thank you for sharing y'all's tips for gardening. You & Wanda are such a Blessing to so many! Thank you for letting the Lord use you in the day and time we are living in. May the Lord continue to Bless & Keep y'all always
I love spring when everything is waking up. Your place is so amazing with the blooms popping open. My tulips have come up and peaches blooming but that is about it so far. Of course, I'm a little north of you. Put on your running shoes, spring brings lots more work!
Love watching the videos and try to learn as much as possible. I,ve already told God, if he opens a door I am ready to walk through it to full time homesteading. Please keep me in your prayers.
Hey Danny, born an raised in south Ala an i am 77 years old, i remember going in the woods an picking Huckelberrys to make one of the best pies i believe i have ever eat. You have a beautiful place there. i watch you all the time.
Thank you, Danny and Wanda, for all the videos and advice given to us for years. I been following y'all for 4 years now and love Porch Time. I live in southern Indiana, I'm 67 and have back and leg issues. It doesn't keep me from gardening and processing all I grow. My husband is a lot older than me, so I pretty much do it on my own. The Vego raised beds are awesome. Thank you for this opportunity. Good luck to everyone.
I have purchased one vegega bed for my 70’th birthday in January this year but would love to have more of them but won’t be able to save enough till the end of summer but if I can’t get one I’ll make one from some scrap wood. Another would be a blessing as I plan to be around for about another 10 years
I am trying my best to teach my granddaughter to learn to grow her own food and can it. I can kick myself every time I think about how stupid I was in my younger years. My mother wasn’t a gardener so we never learned to grow our own food. Here we are now, I’m 69 and have just been fighting a garden for the last few years. My husband is 82 and still goes to work every single day. He has been having trouble with his knee and went to the doctor to find out it’s bone on bone. He walks so much every day and we were so excited about growing a garden this year. I showed him the Vego and he fell in love with it. We can’t wait to get our first one, just waiting for business to pick up so we can order one. Thanks for all your info!
Karen South here from Englewood Florida. Sure do love watching your animals and gardening! It makes me long to be on a farm. We would love to have the Vego bed for our garden. We are 72 and still going strong, but the backs are not liking it!!! Trusting in the Lord to see us all through this miss that our world is in!!

We did fairly well for our first year and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do this year. Thanks for sharing Deep South and Pecan Grove with us. I enjoy all your videos. Blessings to you and Wanda.
God is good !
Thankyou for listening to the Father and sending his word out here in the world, for we surely need it. God Bless
I am 55 years old. I love watching your channel. You have so much wisdom and thank you for all Your advice in god bless you always
That is fantastic, y'all are a blessing to all of us. Our family enjoys watching y'all . Thanks for all the information you share.
Our pleasure!
Blessings Danny and Wanda! Our whole family loves to watch Deep South Homestead and Pecan Grove! Love y’all! ❤️
Your fruit trees and bushes look glorious. So many blooms and fruit setting. The azaleas are my favorite spring flower. I just love the colors and the intensity of the blooms.
Theirs is massive! I love it, look at those blooms!
Beautiful , love the sounds
Due to health issues I do believe having a vego bed would be a tremendous help in growing food and would be so thankful and grateful for having it.
Good morning
I love gardening it is my happy place. It is one of the places where I talk with God.
We live in Missouri and we are behind you in the growth of our fruit. A Vego bed would be a blessing. Thank you for your generosity.
Have a blessed day❤
I'm 71, never stop learning. I get a lot of tips from you. ! Vego bed would be. Big blessing !!
Oh! Showing your Peach Trees almost made my mouth water for a juicy peach.
I can’t help but to think that God has Blessed you two with all the big amount of of young berries and other plants that hold such promise of an abundance of food.
I’m truly happy for y’all. Much deserved. .
A Vego blessing to me would be like being blessed with Pecan Grove and your channel. Thank you .
I just love seeing Danny get so excited about everything he is growing. I am the same way.
Comments are not showing. I’d love the planter. We just moved and I am rebuilding all new beds. And a new greenhouse!!!!! Boom shackalacka. Soooo much to do!!!! Love u 2. Keep filming.
That’s the most magnificent azaleas I’ve ever seen ❤❤❤
I really enjoy seeing the versatility of moving and using those trellises. Enjoyed the walk about.❤
Hi Danny and Ms. Wandamy wife a ND I have been watching your videos for the last 2 years. I'll be 69 in a couple of weeks. I built me a poor man's greenhouse 2 years ago and had very good success so far plus I do an outside garden as well.
Danny and Wanda, the vegobed would sure be a blessing. As I get older it just gets harder to do the things I used to do. Thank you for all you do
A VEGO garden bed would be a wonderful blessing; I am retired and after 2 back surgeries, inground gardening is not an option. A VEGO bed would help retain water too in my hot and dry Texas climate. Thank you so much. Your azaleas are magnificent!! So beautiful!😊❤
I just love watching you walk through your gardens and see how it is doing. There is a lot of love there and blessings from the Lord.
The vibe of your property must be so wonderful for all of your plants and trees to be so happy!!! I love hearing the bees!!!!
A vego raised bed would be a blessing
I'm so happy for youguys. 300,000 Subscribers and grapes.
Thank you Danny for the great information and tips. We use them to make our gardens better. My wife Jeanine and I always love to watch you and Wanda.
Such a inspiration ❤️ I have no help in the garden, no land an growing in any open spot I can. A VEGO BED would be such a blessing.
I have purchased one vegega bed for my 70’th birthday in January this year but would love to have more of them but won’t be able to save enough till the end of summer but if I can’t get one I’ll make one from some scrap wood. Another would be a blessing as I plan to be around for about another 10 years
Good morning Danny and Wanda! Enjoyed seeing what you have going on at Deep South this spring! I hope you have a blessed day! 👩🏻🌾
Good morning
The bird calls, land and flowers are astonishing!
Everything you and Wanda do is top-notch! I love this lifestyle. And I'm inspired to do better with what the Lord has given to me as well.
I didn’t realize how much I missed the fruit tree tours!! The azaleas are gorgeous and I can hear the bees buzzing.
Oh my goodness. Look at that marvelous Azalea beauty. I’ve never seen one this massive and so many blooms
