- Roland recently released the 1.5 update for the Fantom and one of the new features is that they added the supernatural brass and string sounds to the engine. I go through the presets and show the features of the new engine.

I am very surprised how Roland has continuously updated this new Fantom. I hope they keep up with this practice because the Fantom is quickly becoming the top go to synth in my studio. I have not played my MODX in months.

I have a Jupiter 80. I absolutely love it. I hope they can add even more super natural sounds to Fantom. The sounds are nice. I did a sound comparison on both my Jupiter 80 and Fantom and the SN tones sound the same. I feel that the Fantom is getting better with updates.
The trumpet does the slide as well and sounds amazing
You cannot do the same thing on Zen core so it is a truly amazing feature in SN instruments.

This sounds exactly like my Roland XP 50 from 20 years ago. That I still have. It's nothing you are doing wrong. Roland is just not taking the sound sampling game seriously and will pay dearly. You can't add a little reverb and call that a sound upgrade. Their recording functions are truly boss though.

I own the Integra, and as much as I would love to have the latest Fantom (I’ve have 3 earlier editions in the past), I can’t justify 4K without the SN sounds, especially since I already have the Integra. I’m baffled by the fact that for this amount of money, Roland did not add ALL of the SN sounds from the Integra from the beginning. SN sounds are so worth it!
I wonder if they will end up adding all of the SuperNatural stuff. I've heard from Integra/Jupiter folks that these are the same features & options.

How are the acoustic guitar sounds in the Fantom? Also, does it play nice with Cubase?
There are a few good ones, I haven't tried it with Cubase, I didn't really use it with any DAW
Currently Fantom is Logic and MainStage, no other DAW (yet).

All the manufacturers just give names to their products to make it more attractive for customers....Yamaha called its sounds super articulation, sweet voices, mega voices, korg calls some of it sounds DNC sounds Yamaha and korg both use these type of sounds in their arrangers may be also in their synths I don't know..... These super natural sounds also seems to me nothing more than gimmick .......the real contribution of Roland in the modern music industry is the creation of VPiano technology ......which is now also extended to other sounds like violin cello etc and the same technology has been used by the swam and pianoteq......

can you please confirm if the fantom has the “wavingoodbye” string sound? i had a fantom 08 briefly and although the sound was not listed in the documentation.. the sound was indeed buried in the keyboard. i want to buy the 7 but i would like to confirm that it has the sound. thanks!

does the new Fantom have the stack feature that the Fantom G has so that you can play a chord and each note is assigned to a different sound?
I don't know, I no longer have the Fantom so I can't check. I never used the Fantom G so it wasn't a feature I was aware of.
A better buy is the new Roland RD-88 stage piano with 3000 sounds, including these for $1200USD.
Cool! But what if someone prefers a workstation instead of a stage piano? “Better” always depends on the person and their desired use, not just specs, in my opinion. That stage piano sounds like a great source of sounds though!

Sounds are not so impressive. I have played Jupiter80 and it’s an amazing sounding keyboard why Roland didn’t use that sounds in Fantom. Sounds are very dry.

When we talk about SuperNATURAL-Brass, the main question is if the ROLAND actually added ARX-03 algorithms to the new Fantom? I am pretty sure, all Integra-7, Fantom, Jupiter sounds are there - but it's not that valuable! Only ARX-03 stuff is unique! It was not available on any other hardware. What do you think? I'm not sure what exactly the added, I haven't used the Integra/Jupiter systems so I can only rely on others feedback

I don't have much experience with the Kronos so I can't really compare, both are nice workstations though.

@@jithinjoseph1057 We'll see, if I get my hands on a Kronos and Montage as the same time at some point lol. Acoustic guitar sounds are ok, not exactly like a real guitar but can be useful depending on what you're doing.

My juno ds sounds the same ....there is nothing special about this synth and the expansions which they are offering are also the same which comes with comes with Juno Ds and F.A I checked the sounds and are almost the same.....Juno Ds sounds are great with little bit of tweeking you get wonderful sound .....earlier there was also no sample import option in this one I don't know after the update.......even the f.A has no sample import functionality and the cheap juno ds has .....I don't know what Roland is doing.........
Yeah I had the FA, definitely seem similar. If I recall, that only allowed 2 expansions at a time, this lets you have them all loaded which if you are a fan of Roland sounds, that's cool. This basically has all of the old Roland sound, the new stuff, and all of the expansions it seems. But I feel ya!
I heard they will add sampling in Fantom, but I’m not entirely sure it’s true.
@dub412 juno ds has some 1700 sounds plus you can add the expansions....only one at a time but there are 10 expansions plus there are other libraries from the old synths which you can download and open through through juno ds librarian and save that to your user patches.....you can play well over 3 thousand sounds if you are switching the expansions....you can also import samples....it is just all rounder for less money.....
The tones on the fantom8 truly do suck, they focused more on their synths, even those aren't the best, you have to download the expansion packs for more stuff, but for a keyboard that I paid $4500 for, there should be way better sounding tones. They have over 1000 tones on it but who has the time to listen to 1000 tones. They focused too much on quantity because the quality is severely lacking. My $200 Casio has way better sounding brass, synth,bass and guitar tones, Gosh, the guitar tones on the fantom are absolute GARBAGE, it's like they put 0 effort into them. The bass guitars are also terrible, don't get me started on the trumpets and saxophones, holy crap, I was really disappointed when I unboxed. Then there's the problem with polyphony, they claim 256polyphony but when I play more than eight notes with only 8 zones active, a lot of notes drop off, super annoying. Then there's the way they organized the tones, this has the most unorganized category of tones I've ever seen in any keyboard.🙄🥺

Sorry ... I AM A BIG ROLAND FAN.... BUT THE HELL DON'T KNOW WHERE ALL THE NICE GLITCH AN GLAMOUR HAD GONE WITH THE ROLAND FANTOM 0 EN FANTO SERIES.
MAYBE IT NEEDS A REAL TRUMPET OR SAX PLAYER TO PLAY MY FANTOM 06 SAX AND TRUMPET SOUNDS AND THE VIOLINS AND GUITARS ,,,, I DONT KNOW ... OHH Y GOD.
IT SEEMS AS IF THE DEVELOPERS FORGET TO PUT THE BUTTER ON THE BREAD HERE. AS IF THEY WENT TO TAKE COFFEE IN THE MIDDLE OF DEVELOPING THE SOUNDS AND DID NOT COME BACK TO FINISH IT. UNBELIEVABLE. FOR NOW I KEEP MY FA 06 AND MY INTEGRA7. PLEASE DO NOT SELL YOUR INTEGRA FOR A FANTOM IF YOU HAVE ONE. YOU WILL BE VERY DISSAPOINTED!
Wow! I have to say, those Cellos, among many others, sound HORRIBLE!!!!! With this day and age of VSTs, why can't big companies like this put in the time to sample acoustic instruments correctly, put the hardware inside to be able to accommodate it all, and make one FANTASTIC all-in-one workstation?!!!!!
