  • Thai immigration has just announced that visa extensions can now be obtained online. However, you still need to go to immigration to get your passport stamped. I describe step-by-step how to fill out this application.
    The e-Extension website is: thaiextension....
    If you have questions, you can ask immigration at: info.eextensionth@vfsglobal.com
    Please post your experiences in the comments section.
    IMPORTANT NOTICE: ONE OF MY VIEWERS, 'UNKNOWN TBD', POSTED AN EMAIL HE RECEIVED FROM IMMIGRATION, " 'Policy of the Immigration Bureau said your visa need to have no more than 45 days left to extend it with any type of visa'. BASED ON THIS, IT SEEMS THAT YOU COULD EXTEND A VISA EXEMPTION IMMEDIATELY WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN THAILAND, BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 15 DAYS IF YOU WANT TO EXTEND A TOURIST VISA FOR WHICH YOU GOT A 60-DAY STAMP. THANK YOU 'UNKNOWN TBD' FOR THIS VERY USEFUL INFORMATION!

    You are too kind putting all this information together. Thank you for this (and your other videos). Your multi entry tourist visa video helped me apply (and get) that visa in the USA.
    Quick question, if I may, I always get confused on the 15 day rule....
    On a 60 day tourist visa, how soon can you ask for a 30 day extension from Thai Immigration?
    Is it after you have been in Thailand for 15 days or is it 15 days before your 60 day tourist visa expires? I know for sure one can go too soon.

      Hello tbd (nice name)! Thank you for the kind words.
      I don't know about a 15 day rule, except that immigration suggests that you extend your visa at least 15 days before it expires (but that's just a recommendation). As far as I know, you can extend your visa at an immigration office as soon as you arrive in Thailand. Immigration at the airport doesn't do extensions. You have to go to a local immigration office. Maybe other viewers will know if you have to wait a certain amount of time before applying for an extension, but as far as I know, there's no waiting period. Hope that helps... and happy travels! ...Bob

      @@robertsultan2550 Awww - thank you and thank you for your reply. I know for sure one can go too soon to ask for an extension on a 60 day tourist visa (30 day might have a different rule). I experienced that in Bangkok when covid started, waited 12 hours, and was told I can't extend my 60 day visa because I was too early. Sadly, I remember the pain of waiting & rejection, but I couldn't remember the other part. Maybe I'll send them an email inquiring.

      Here was there official reply for 60 day tourist visa: 'Policy of the Immigration Bureau said your visa need to have no more than 45 days left to extend it with any type of visa'. ...that might fall into your statement (of their recommendation).
      But in 2020, I was officially turned away from an extension on my 60 day tourist visa (after waiting 12 hrs because I asked too soon).

      @@unknowntbd That is VERY interesting. So, if you come on a visa and get a 60-day stamp, then you would need to wait 15 days before applying for the extension. If you come on a 45-day visa exemption, you can apply for your extension immediately. This is great information. I'm assuming that this would be true whether applying in-person for the extension or via the e-extension. I'll put this in the description of the video. I think many people will be interested. Thanks! ...Bob

    As a followup, in my case for 60 day tourist visa, they wanted to see an image of my "whole two page of entry stamp" page and a copy of my e-visa attached in the 'additional document field'. fyi in my case, the email said I had to provide the documents within 12 hours. So, sadly, pay attention to your emails after you have submitted your application.
    An additional fyi, I can't find my the appointment day at time I picked on any of the documents after I selected it. Once approved, maybe they remind you? So make a note of it once you select the day and time that you wanted.
    Finally, I know the website currently says some sections will take other image formate besides jpg, but I had to change the png image file to jpg for the system to take them.

      Thanks tbd... This is such great information that I think I'll make a short video to make sure that people see all of this. They told me the full page with the stamp, but it's good to know that by 'page' they mean the two facing pages. If they want the visa in the 'additional documents field' they should really say so. I think they are figuring this out as they go along. An additional video is definitely needed here... Thanks! ...Bob

    I look forwards to when all passports internationally become digital, having a physical passport is just living in the past at this time. I also wondered if you were to lose your passport in Thailand you would be screwed because every hotel requires it...

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dan, you might have to wait a while for that digital passport. If you lose the passport, the hotel can report your passport number. They would likely coordinate this with the local immigration office and want proof that you've contacted your embassy about the missing passport.
      But, why risk this. I have both an Apple AirTag AND a Tile Sticker glued to the back of my passport. This is not something I want to lose. See: th-cam.com/video/AVk8lEXCbMw/w-d-xo.html. all the best... Bob

    Hi Robert, when applying online for the extension online in the accommodation part it asks for an address. What happens if we are no longer at the hotel that we put in and no longer have a TM30 form for that address.

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Tuxy, Thai immigration definitely understands that the address information you supply on the form is likely to be different from where you are staying when you show up in person to get the stamp. This is because there is often a gap of weeks between the date that you submit the application and when you get an appointment, and you don't know until the end of the application process the date of your appointment, so it would be difficult to supply an address that matches where you'll be staying on the date of your appointment. You just want to make sure that when you show up at immigration to get the stamp, that your hotel, hostel, or guesthouse has submitted a TM.30 for you. They generally do this online using an app, and you don't even know about it, but it doesn't hurt to ask at the front desk, just to make sure that they've done it. Of course, if you're staying at a private residence or AirBnB, the owner needs to have submitted a form TM.30 on your behalf. Immigration won't care if you're staying at an address different from that specified in the e-Extension online form... so, no worries... all the best... Bob

    We will be arriving for a week in Bangkok then heading North (Chiang Mai). Is a week long enough to submit and get an appointment for the stamp?, or should we just go in. Thanks for the info!

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Lumpialife. The last time I checked, the wait was longer than a week. The wait might be shorter now, but probably not that much shorter. You could just try to make the appointment online when you arrive in Bangkok, but you have to fill out the whole application before you can find out what dates are available, and that's a lot of work. I'd say to just plan to go in person in Chiangmai.
      And, doing this in the first week is only possible if you are coming in on a 30 day visa exemption. If you come in on a tourist visa, you will get stamped-in for 60 days. There's a rule that you can't apply for the extension until you have 45 days or less remaining on your stamp.
      I think you'll be going in person.
      Enjoy your trip! ...Bob

This is Immigration Division 1 Government Complex Ratthaprasasana Phakdi Building (Building B , South Zone), 120 Moo 3, Chaeng Wattana Road, Thung Song Hong Subdistrict, Lak Si District, Bangkok 10210. There are a lot of TH-cam videos on how to get the place. It's near the Chatuchuk Market. So, you can go ahead and get your extension now. You could try using the online application, or you could just go the the immigration office. • @robertsultan2550

      Hi Sbkpilot. An important question. No, you can't. When you apply, you need to supply a residential address that's within the domain of the embassy/consulate that you're applying to. You'd have to convince the consulate in Europe that you're really a resident of whatever country it is. And if you apply to a consulate in the US, your ticket to Thailand has to originate from the US. All of this suggests that your best bet is to just arrive on a visa exemption. You shouldn't have any problems with that. all the best... Bob
