Great to see a good video showing how easy it is to mod a keyboard without rushing through the steps, and the sound transformation is remarkable! That spacebar sounds great but those alphas sound so deep and clean i could listen to them all day. I hadn't heard of this brand before but will be picking up a few to mod and give away for xmas. Thank you for this video.
Hey thanks for stopping by and checking it out! I'm also super happy with the sound transformation. Really excited to revisit it with maybe some different switches but we will have to see lol. Lets go for the keyboard gifts!!
just got this and tape modded, it sounds great!! i got some foam ,and foam modded it aswell, the ONLY bad thing about this keyboard, is the knob, not being hot swappable, so i cant use my own knob!! but great kb to mod, and end results sounded AMAZING! great video!!
I recently purchased this keyboard with the intention of modifying it. During my first attempt at modding, the USB port broke off when I was almost finished installing lubed Gateron Browns on the function keys and the surrounding switches, with the rest being Lubed NK Box Cream switches. Despite this setback, I was determined to complete the modifications. So, I ordered another keyboard and successfully lubed and tuned the stabilizers, and installed the whole board with Lubed NK Box Creme pro's. However, I encountered a consistent issue during both processes: one pin would often bend, requiring me to either force it in, bend it just enough to make contact, or shave it down. After researching, I found that others had experienced a similar issue, suggesting that the switch port might be slightly smaller than usual. Despite these challenges, the overall outcome is fantastic. However, I must note that I dislike the branding on the front of the board. Overall, I would rate this board 3.8 out of 5 stars. However, on a different note, fantastic video! I really appreciate your transparency about everything and including your thought process.
Wow lets go! Way to stick with it and I can so relate. I had a very similar experience with on of the first keyboards I ever modded. A couple keyboards later, a broken daughter board and bent pins but I did in the end get it and I still have that keyboard displayed in my home as the keyboard that started it all, but cheers the seeing it through and getting it done. There's something to say about those that will stick with something even when its being difficult. I would have to agree with the branding on boards. I'm not sure what that is all about. So many boards now have there name in a dumb spot on the top or the front when they could simply put it is on the back like so many others. Maybe I'll test some ways to maybe remove them to make these types of boards more aesthetically pleasing. Lastly, thanks for watching the video and the comment!
Your vid was everything i needed to know i wanted to know if the keyboard was hot swoppable as i bought akko v3 pro clears for it and some metal keycaps and i needed to know if it had stabilizers and i was worried if it didnt and then i saw it did and now im so happy
I am thinking of buying it as my first hot-swapable mech keyboard, I missed the black friday, it is USD 27 now, you got a really nice deal. btw, is this keyboard compatible with gamakey switch? I am planning to change the switches with silent ones. Thanks
I've heard of people using gamakay switches in Red Dragon boards that have Outemu switches in them but I personally never have. However I do have Haimu Pearl Lemons that are branded with Red Dragon and I just tried those and they do not fit :( - If you do try it let me know how it goes! Hope this helps
awesome video! I'm just getting started with some keyboard videos myself and I'm looking forward to digging around your channel a little today. Talk to you later
dudeee i bought the s-k71 but i should have bought this one and modded it for a lot less but putting in some akko switches (lubed) would probably make this a very great super budget build
Hey you can't go wrong with the SK71 though, such a solid choice. I recently put akko lavenders in the Newmen and you are right sounds and feels great!
@@Usa2827 honestly still one of my fav keyboards. I use it in my to go bag now and still love the way it sounds and still works the same as the day I bought it. Hope this helps 🙂
hey i got the keyboard and the switches where hard to pull out and ive never tryed changing switches but ive seen videos are switches allways that hard to pull out
@@Usa2827 honestly it's kind of the luck of the draw. I've had budget keyboards were switches are pain to get out and I've had others that are super easy. Same with expensive boards.
Honestly I have a love for BSUN switches. They are just such a good switch for the price. The Jixians I've honestly never used before this build. I've been using them daily for about a week now to really get a feel for them and to share my thoughts incase anyone came to ask. They do feel around the same force as my cherrry reds which are 45g. They have felt nice thus far but having no real knowledge or history of the switches I'm curious how long they will hold up. I assume it won't be a problem as long as the keyboard isn't bashed on but we shall see lol. It really has been working out so much better than expected. I played Fortnite, The Finals, Crab Champions this week all games I thought I might be able to feel the lower polling rate on but to my surprise all my movement felt on point. (also may vary for others since maybe I'm just not as fast as I think I am lol) So yea I've used it for work, for gaming and content creation and so far really happy with the performance for the price. Hope this helps! Cheers :)
Hey was wondering if you know a way to set the backlights to only one colour? i was hoping to make it all pink but i can only seem to change the patterns of them D:
Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to set it to only one color. I even checked their software which is on their site and it won't let you modify colors at all. Sorry but I hope this answers your question :)
did u buy it on sale or it's now popular that it goes for $33, ah you got it on black friday sale. Yeah I'll wait for a sale, $33 seems a tad high to me for this, although there is that knob LOL
Yep yep, switches are pretty easy but you will need a switch puller because one doesn't come in the box. Also if you are going to change the switches remember this only supports 3 pin switches. Hope this helps!
@@CacheKeyboards thanks,i've ordered the keyboard and silent white outemu switches, i read somewhere that gaterons are harder to push into the slots in this keyboard. fingers crossed.🤞
Honest answer, I don't know. I would assume it would work minus the knob functions since the keyboard doesn't require any specific drivers or software to work. Hope this helps!
IKR!! This is my first mechanical keyboard and I bought some gateron green switches and just my luck they don’t fit…every time I go to replace a switch for some reason they don’t fit and one of the pins just bends definitely would have been nice to know beforehand
It for sure is can be a little bit of a struggle with this socket type. The outemu styles are a little more tight and shallower so gaterons don't always fit. Some have modified them to fit but it involves trimming the pins and such. Also sometimes the plate is to tight to fit them because the gaterons are just slightly wider than outemus.
The v3 pros are 5pin. This board is setup for only 3 pin switches. You will either have to use a different set of switches or clip the 2 plastic legs on the bottom of the switches. There are some videos around on how to do it. It's not to hard but as always it's at your own risk.
@@Omni_Man_Of_Viltrum I haven't built it yet but I ordered the IROK FE87 for an upcoming budget video and seen the XVX WK87 & Geeky GK65 all under your price point. Hope that helps.
Hold the FN key and press the \ key and it will change your RGB. And to adjust the speed you hold the FN key and use the + and/or - key. Hope this helps!
