    You talk about the popping cork imitating a baitfish sound but actually it’s imitating the sound of feeding fish, notably speckled trout and particularly their “percussion” strike when they such in prey, especially shrimp at the surface. Trout open their mouths so fast, it actually creates a cavitation pocket, like the prop noise of a helicopter’s blades, which stuns shrimp or other prey.
    Good instructional video, and also, the cast you’re discussing with a popping cork is best described as a “lob cast” versus firing a lure out there on a whip cast.

    side note.....are you going to the Fishing Show ......heading down from Dallas on Saturday 17th.....missed finding you at the last one....I wish the show would have a TH-cam BOOTH, I know a lot of the youtube guys (and Ladies) are sorta bound to their sponsors or favorite vendor, but a spot they could all pop in and out of would be great...alot of subscribers know each other (only)electronically , last time met 2 of those people accidentally in a vendor booth.....

      Yes I’ll be there every day except Wednesday. Look for the Laguna and Anglers Anonymous booth and I’ll be close.

    Good video Mike.....just my opinion but woodie corks are cute with nice little packaging but they're trash....4 Horseman corks make perfect rattling noise with a solid water pop then rattle as the cork settles....woodie corks just drag the water and don't make any noise but every so often. Just my opinion but I've caught tons of fish with Horseman corks and a chatter weight and VUDU shrimp combo...I adjust the length according to water depth and style of fishing I'm doing. Had great success...thank you for info and just adding my experience and opinion but everyone has their own success doing what works for them.

      I appreciate the opinion. I’ve heard a few people mention they like other corks better due to sound, weight, or other differences. Most of those people didn’t realize that Phillips tackle makes tons of different versions of corks a ton of versions of the woodie. Some of those are really loud, some are not, some have different beads and different weights. That’s why I like them. A lot of options.

    What's is your favorite cadence? I pop 1once, wait 7 sec, pop twice, rinse and repeat.

    • @TexasFishingForce
      @TexasFishingForce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, i decided not to talk about cadence in this video because it changes so often. I start by popping once and waiting 5-7 seconds, if that’s not working I go quicker or I pop a few times and wait. I’d hate to talk about cadence and people get stuck using only one.

      @@TexasFishingForce perfect answer, let the fish tell you how they want it. I’m mostly a pretty vigorous popper which the fish have proven effective and it seems to not only attract fish but also excites them in what must be competitive reaction when they’ve got a school of their friends with them.
