This farce was all just aimed at new and younger fans of the show; One-sodding-Direction being pointlessly shoehorned just proves that point. Such a missed opportunity to ignore William Russell and Carole Ann Ford who were there from the beginning.
I recall hearing that Nicholas Briggs brought along all his dalek voice equipment and then never got interviewed once throughout the evening. Bernard Cribbins sat next to him remarked "I bet your glad you brought all that with you then."
Seeing Elisabeth Sladen in the background breaks my heart :( She is the most iconic companion ever and she deserves to be alive today to continue the legacy of Sarah Jane Smith :( She left her mark as SJA and she will live in forever.
your 15 minute delay broadcast embarrassed the uk and all legends of doctor who was it worth shaming us all for talking with one direction and in front of the doctor's granddaughter and legendary companions!!!!!
I loved it when Tom Baker appeared. He is my favourite Doctor. I think one of the reasons why he agreed to appear in "The Day of the Doctor" was because he actually admitted his regret for not doing the 20th anniversary special, "The Five Doctors" in 1983. They used footage of him from the unfinished serial, "Shada".
To anyone who is watching. This is not the full speical. It originally ran for approximately 30 mins. Segments* that missing from this recording: -interview with some US fans - Who is the best companion games - blink and you miss it interviews with the old companions about the 50th speical *from what I remember
*Playing Doctor Who Legacy while watching this* Me: Taps River to use her ability. At the same exact moment: Alex: Hello Sweetie. I literally seriously thought it came from my iPad.
Despite the link up with One Direction being faulty, I wish I had recorded the whole of Doctor Who Live The Afterparty as it is not even included on any DVD or Blu-ray releases.
What a waste, all those companions in one place and not even talking to any of them? Also someone told me Jackie Lane was in that crowd? I spotted over a dozen familiar faces but didn't see Dodo anywhere.
To say the least! Given that she's the only surviving 60s companion NOT to appear in any DVD extras, for a lot of fans this would be the only chance to see or hear her out of character.
The fact that nobody clapped for 1D makes me so happy. XD I was really miffed when I watched this and just saw so many classic companions just sitting there and not being asked a thing. Even a few of the New Who actors were there and they were just sidelined. Absolutely disgusting and a wasted opportunity to really appreciate some gems which made the show what it is today. This live show itself was a disaster as nobody really seemed to actually know what they were even talking about. SHAME ON YOU BBC! - The Gallifreyan Whoviamn
@@josephchambers2000 But Fox is bought by Disney and Disney+ is going to broadcast Doctor Who, so can't they arrange for the rights to be returned to the BBC?
Like reliving your childhood?? it must have been a pretty abysmal childhood for you then because you completely disregarded the existence of all the companions !!!
@@cabbagemechanic4983 Wow that's mad. I honestly can't believe they interviewed 1D when they had all those classic companions just sat there. Tbh the only part I liked was the companion showreel video they showed later on.
It was cool behind the scenes though away from the 1d pap. Sat chilling with Matt Smith and all the stars past and then present was a bit of a fan moment to be fair. Talking to 1D though , wtf !!
i remembered this being pretty bad, but oooh boy, this was so much worse than i remembered lol what's the point in inviting all the old companions and cast to literally not have them say a word? this could've been an hour long type thing with just continious interviews, they really dropped the ball on this one, it would've been better to not air it at all, tbh
The music electro DW intro for Matt's entrance, just wow!! Did Capaldi perform it??!!! I laughted so bad with the bad connection hahahaaha!!! Not a very successful interview though..
Pathetic excuse for an after party! One direction is nothing to do with doctor who! Why would you do that? and using a dodgy connection to America why would you even bother? You have past companions to interview! A total waste of time! 1D are literally everywhere and they didn't belong there! Appalled at this! So disrespectful to the past companions...
Funny how they think an interview with 1D while they're in LA is more important than interviewing some old companions who are sitting right there
ALL OF THOSE PAST COMPANIONS JUST. SITTING. THERE.
all the past companions there and they ask Matt Smith if he has a fez collection at home…
Carole Ann Ford is sitting RIGHT THERE and they do nothing.
unbelievable.
+Kaagh178 She certainly sounded like it when she announced Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor.

The Special Edition with new effects used some different scenes from it, too.

i reckon someone at bbc perpousely reuined the live broadcast with 1D just so they didnt have to listen to em. i would if i had the chance
As Colin Baker calls "The Disaster Party". Such a shame with all the talented actors in the back.
Sorry but I can't stop staring at that grandad in red at 7:38 xDDD
Mate thats William Russell played Ian Chesterton as one of the 3 first companions
Watching this the first time and I thought it was awkward, watching it a second time and it's even more awkward.

That's cause everyone has as much pride in it as the Star Wars holiday special.
Janet fielding has a raised eyebrow when one direction appear
I don't blame her, they've got f*ck all to do with this.
What a waste, all those companions in one place and not even talking to any of them? Also someone told me Jackie Lane was in that crowd? I spotted over a dozen familiar faces but didn't see Dodo anywhere.
She did one of the video inserts, said it was all down to the fans the show had been successful. I think Dodo was underused
JavertRA Yeah. Even in An Adventure in Space and Time she only made a brief cameo.
+JavertRA I didn't see her in a film insert here. Did they edit it out, or did I blink and miss it?
+Gregory Eatroff they edited it out. which is frankly pretty damn rude.
To say the least! Given that she's the only surviving 60s companion NOT to appear in any DVD extras, for a lot of fans this would be the only chance to see or hear her out of character.
How'd they manage to get through the entire broadcast without even mentioning David Tennant except an implication in "the boys"?
this isnt the full show. it was originally on TV for at least an hour
That was so painfully awkward
I LOVE THE SONG IN THIS VIDEO I FEEL HOUNDED TO BE A MASSIVE DR WHO FAN

Fun fact, they can legally never be in Doctor Who ever again as fox still owns the rights to them to this day.
