Hello Bill not a very nice morning hope you didn't get too cold. Lovely to see the building work underway on the take a way . I remember the Peter Pan Railway Bill thank you for the clip and thank you Andy for the clip from Plymouth super . Great then and now Bill yes the foam is strange stuff. I hope your baby sitting went well and that you managed to get Mums pastie yummy 😋. I'll say bye for another day Bill stay warm and safe enjoy your afternoon . I'll see you tomorrow ❤😊xx
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I bet that was a hot chocolate when you got back😸. Enjoyed the Peter Pan piece, love those nostalgic postcards the - colouring was so distinctive. Funny how even though I love railways and scale modelling something as 'silly' as the PP Railway is still fascinating - or is that just me😼. 😺
It holds a special place with me , as my mum would take us over from Dawlish to ride on it . not silly at all , as someone who’s been around railways my whole life , model and real , it did have a fascinating draw .
Hi Bill, well you managed to get around and film everything you wanted to before the rain came, well done. Great photos of the Peter Pan railway and thanks to Andy for finding its new home. See you tomorrow mate. 👍👍👍
Well right from the off a verbal list of that days summing up of the expected tour around Teignmouth, and i certainly remember Peter Pans children's railway oh yes, thanks for sharing 👋
Hello Bill great video, happy memories of the Peter Pan railway. Proper seaside fun, like the yacht pool and the mobos 😂. Seems sad the Peter Pan railway definitely looked better in Teignmouth. Strange thing the foam , i wonder what causes that .good to see the food shack is being rebuilt. Hope baby sitting went well and Mom got her pastie See you tomorrow Carol
Cheers Carol - They say the foam is just marine algae - Some say its pollution - It only happens very occasionally. Just one of those 'Teignmouth things' - Yes, everything went to plan thanks - And mum enjoyed her pasty ! See you tomorrow - Its all your pics in that one! 👍👍👍
The question is.. who has nicked all our sand? Has Exmouth got it? I noticed at low tide the other day from the point just how much the harbour entrance has narrowed due to shifting sands and there were several sea pools, a lagoon and a gully on the main beach. The force of nature I guess. Nice tracking down of our once beloved Peter Pan sea front train Andy. I spotted what looked like one of those old Milk carton vending machines you used to see on stations and the like standing by the light house in one of the old pictures, but could be wrong and it is something else just advertising Milk. Seems like a strange place to site one, but who knows?
Yes, it was a milk vending machine I believe - You are not mistaken 👍 Most of our sand is up at Holcombe now - You can hardly walk under the viaduct anymore as there is so much sand there ! Its the constant dredging they do... 👍
Wouldn’t it be great to have that Railway along the seafront again, especially with a few of the other past attractions , like the paddling pool and racing cars .
Yeah it would be cool andy 😎. And the pier all back up and running and right again. To me the seaside is about traditional attractions. We have lost many over the years.
@@chucky2316 I think it’s a crying shame that people have got no vision today & Teignmouth would absolutely rake the money in with the pier put right and few extra attractions. I fondly remember how it used to look and the thousands of children that enjoyed its attractions & Teignmouth is crying out for it.

I remember visiting teignmouth in the 80s and 90s andy and it was brilliant. Used to go to live music events on the den do you and bill remember those. Also plays by the local country and western people we knew a teignmouth family called collett who were into country and western events. Malcolm the dad went on to manage and run coastview holiday park over in shaldon. Last we heard of them. Good times and memories although some country and western folk take it very seriously 😂. Malcoms old transit minibus.
Lovely little railway bill. Nice too see it is still local. Goodrington in paignton had a mini railway aswell. And paignton had a lifesize mechanical elephant 🐘. Maybe andy knows what became of those seaside attractions. Teignmouth has some beach today in this video 🎉nice 👍
@andybyrne50 mini railways seemed to be the thing at seaside locations in the day. Shame we lost the one at paignton zoo. Many memories for lots of people. I know about the mechanical elephant because I read an article about it in the local newspaper.
@@chucky2316I believe the one at Goodrington was called the Peter Pan railway, as a lot of seaside towns had them , along with stately homes and other theme parks. I know Plymouth had one in that spot for a few years and they acquired the one from Teignmouth in the 70s and called it the Gus Honeybun, in fact they celebrated Gus honeybuns 60th birthday in 2021 at the ride . I will have to do some research on the Elephant at Paignton, it must have had a connection with the zoo
@@chucky2316 I’ve already found out that the Elephants name was “Jenny” and it was stored where the toilets are opposite the pier. I read it walked on straight legs , a bit like spotty dog and it pulled a carriage. One of the drivers is still alive today and was a school teacher, who drove this for something to do in the holidays. Apparently, one of the few that was made , is still about today in storage
@@andybyrne50how cool it's still in storage and not broken up. I bet that elephant was magical to the kids. How amazing i wonder if it ever visited teignmouth.
No exact official date, but I'm saying late 73 - Early 74? I have pictures of it in Plymouth dated 1975 so it was installed and operational in Plymouth then 👍
The Peter Pan Railway looked much happier in Teignmouth, I have to say !! Many happy memories of it!!! (Why was it sold off?). I used to love taking my model yacht to the boating pond too.....
It did look much more at home in Teignmouth, but it was actually great to see something that gave so many kids pleasure in the 50s/60s , myself included , still running all those years on. I used to drive the attendant mad ringing the bell 😂
@BillsPhoneTeignmouth I have a photo I think, somewhere....I must go through, my old photos sometime!! It broke my heart when they turned it into a paddling pool. I used to love watching other people's boats and yachts!

I remember it well from family holidays and I was born in 1965 so that seems a bit early but maybe. I'll see if my mum still has some slides somewhere.

Yes mate - Off to get a makeover - No more 'Blue & Green' train 😥

Noticed the Social Club Bill, are you a club member?
I'm not David. As i dont drink & rarely leave the house outside of my morning walk, it doesn’t seem worth joining 👍
Do we know when the Peter Pan finally closed?
Early 70s is my best guess, but I couldn’t find an exact date when I was researching for the segment 👍
About late 71
@@BillsPhoneTeignmouth you have a photo of me and my brother on it, which I'd date at around '76 since my brother was only born in '73.

74 latest - I have a pic here of it on the Ho, which is dated 1975...
