It's because Italian is more complicated than english languages so when an Italian speaks it he doesn't realize it but when he tries to translate it for example into English he understands that there are too many words where the literal translation does not reflect how that word is used and in what context. At least it's not that easy to translate instantly but you have to think about it a bit more especially if you don't know English perfectly.For example in Italy there are more hand gestures which are the translation of yummy.
