    2:53 : parmigiana is different from parmigiano. Parmigiano is actually the famous type of cheese and it's from Emilia Romagna (a region in the north/middle east of Italy). Parmigiana is made mainly with eggplant, tomato sauce and cheese and it's from the southern part of Italy (not only Naples, for example there is also a famous type of parmigiana from Sicily).
    By the way, I loved the video as I'm from Italy and it makes me feel good seeing people amazed by my native country.

    • @LDTube-pz9fq
      @LDTube-pz9fq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Parmigiana is from Sicily. The Greeks imported it (it's actually derived from the Moussaka) when they also imported eggplant in Italy for the first time. The world itself comes from the sicilian word parmiciana or shutter because of the way the dish looks like. So a dish of greek origin with a sicilian name couldn't have neapolitan origin. In fact the only reason why there's also parmigiana in Naples is because the royals of Naples got it from the royals of Palermo but many years after it was being cooked in Sicily.

    Parmigiana (the one named in this video) is a dish from Campania, Sicilia and Calabria "consists of sliced eggplant, pan fried in oil, layered with tomato sauce and cheese and baked in an oven".
    Parmigiano-Reggiano is a typical cheese from north of Italy with protected designations of origin.

Also the city of Fiat, Juventus, the biggest square with arcades in Europe (Piazza Vittorio Veneto), the biggest open-air market in Europe (Porta Palazzo) and tallest monument of Italy: Mole Antonelliana. Milanese here, thanks for the kind words. Some suggestions, in no particular order:
    - in Milan, Inter AC vs Milan AC is an ongoing civil war, be like John Cleese and don't mention!
    - Venice is indeed beautiful, but a gondola ride is wicked expensive, but worth it if you choose well the itinerary.
    - mountains yes, sometimes people forget, but 25% of the Alps lie in Italian territory, if you like rugged terrain there's a lot of that too.
    - Tuscany, apart from Florence, is a constellation of small towns wirh exceptional landscapes, so it's really a good idea to tour around rather than staying in a single place.
    - you can visit Etna, as a volcano it's relatively well-behaved. Just use old shoes for the hike, because the heat from the soil soften melts soles off (not a joke).
    - Pompeii was indeed buried, but by soft pumice rock and ash, not by lava, so the buildings survived. If you cannot visit the place, the museums in Naples have a lot from there.
    - the Cinque Terre are indeed fantastic, but in the last years their fame has brought crowds. And in any case the terrain is wicked steep, if you go there prepare for strenuous hiking.
    As pandemia restrictions are being lifted, best wishes for your travels!

    The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence took 140 years to complete for the structural part: it was started in 1296 and completed in 1436. However, the Dome was completed only in 1471, the front only in 1887, and the bronze doors where installed in 1903, so it actually took 607 years to reach the look it has now. When it was completed it was the largest church in the world.

For an example the Tiberio bridge project started in 14d.C and was finally built in 21d.C, and it still have the same purpose it had 2000 years ago! It is indeed still used as a bridge even tho now you can’t go with the car on the bridge anymore to avoid damaging it, and something that not many tourists or people outside of the city knows is that on the day of the bridge’s birthday you can see a cake made of plastic float in the water!

    The tour of Lake Garda is magnificent, I often do it by motorbike to enjoy the road and the view. Limone sul garda is one of the most beautiful villages. Parmigiana is a Neapolitan dish and is so called because it uses Parmigiano Reggiano. By the way, I highly recommend you also visit Emilia Romagna, rich in culinary culture and with the whole mountain area of the Apennines rich in medieval castles, such as "Castello di Bardi", "Castello di Torrechiara" and many others! There are also many natural parks such as "Parco dei cento laghi" where there are many lakes of glacial origin

    17:03 This is the Santa Maria del Fiore (Saint Mary of Flower) Cathedral. It was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to a design of Arnolfo di Cambio and was structurally completed by 1436, with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The exterior of the Basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink, bordered by white, and has an elaborate 19th-century Gothic Revival façade by Emilio De Fabris. The cathedral complex, in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. These three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the historic centre of Florence and are a major tourist attraction of Tuscany. The basilica is one of Italy's largest churches, and until the development of new structural materials in the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.

    Hi from Milano, My city manages to be ancient and modern, innovative and traditional at the same time. You will find examples of Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque architecture, traces of Austrian domination recalling Viennese architecture, traces of French domination with parts of the city that resemble Paris. You will find the new districts with the Porta Nuova and City Life skyscrapers. Milan can also be the starting point for day trips to Lake Como or Lake Maggiore, in 40 minutes by train you will be at the foot of the Alps. With the high-speed train, you can be in Turin or Verona in an hour, or in Venice in two hours.

    Hi Nyal!
    I'm from Bologna. It is a not very large city in northern Italy (capital of the Emilia-Romagna region) and it's famous for its red roofs. The town is mainly in a medieval style and some of the most famous monuments are the Neptune fountain and the two towers (also leaning like the Pisa's one!) It is characterized by about 40 km of arcades (considered UNESCO heritage)and, speaking of numbers, you have to climb 498 steps to reach the Sanctuary of San Luca, from which you can admire the entire city.
    Bologna is smaller and less famous, but to me it's beautiful and has a lot to offer (especially for food: do you know mortadella, lasagne and tortellini? They come from here!)
    Greetings from Italy!

    • @LDTube-pz9fq
      @LDTube-pz9fq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He might not know "mortadella" because it's actually called "bologna" in England and USA
      Speaking of food I need to add that Emilia-Romagna is known as the zone in Italy with the most amount of dishes and foods known worldwide: parmigiano, aceto balsamico, cotechino, zampone, prosciutto di parma, cotoletta, zuppa inglese, amaretti, ragù, tagliatelle, tortelli, lasagne, piadina.
      Also according to an international survey among travellers, the best ice-cream in Italy is in Emilia-Romagna which is the italian region with the most gelaterias per capita in Italy.
      Bologna is not small, just less populated than other cities. But speaking of size is actually a very big city.
