I broke my own heart. We both got caught up in problems that prevented us from being together. At the end we were both broken in different ways but we finally had the chance to get together and at the moment I realised I couldn't give him what he wanted and needed and he deserved to have what he wanted and needed he deserved to be happy I didn't have the ability to do it so I let him go and I carefully told him what he needed to hear to get closure and to move on and heal. And he did and he happily got married and had a family and got what deserved and I'm happy for him.

My goodness I love this guy. It’s been far to long to hear a man that is not only passionate about what his topic is but also he genuinely wants you to feel it also. He has helped me to understand so much. He’s walked thru the fire. He already knows and has felt some of life’s biggest obstacles. Much respect.

So true... Like in the earlier stages of the relationship you have hawk eyes looking out for red flags (like serious ones, not the he sleeps with socks on) . You check their idealogy, future plans and stuff and then if you decide to stick together you stick together like a team. Fighting the battle together, working on issues together, putting in efforts and everything.

@@rupanshidhruv no its just a habit. SM is saying real red flags are not little personality quirks like that. I mean its not even a real quirk since we all do that when cold at night. She used it as an example as NOT a red flag, because so many young pple can be confused these days cuz we can pick & choose with dating apps to exact characteristics its causing pple to get so picky. I mean love is love & while certain basic commonalities ensure more strength & closeness in s union, true love is when the partner does thngs or has quirks you may not embrace but you love them in spite of because it makes them unique & if the bond is strong their good points far outwiegh like say a sport obsession, or loving a food u totally hate.

@Mazimaz it's for that same reason that I would attribute it to God.
It reminds me of Ecclesiastes 3:11,
"He hath made all things good in their time, and hath delivered the world to their consideration, so that man cannot find out the work which God hath made from the beginning to the end."
"..and hath delivered the world to their consideration.." in a more modern translation becomes "..He has also set eternity in the human heart.."
We have the incredible ability to contemplate eternity, yet have to accept that we exist with earthly limitations.
The translations used are DRC1752 and the NIV for further context/reading.

That's it, right there. I had guys tell me that the reason they 'love' me is because of the value i can add to their lives, looking at me as some sort of superwoman who can add greatness to them. Granted, i want to be of value to my future spouse. But what irks me is that they tell me they love me without recognizing my fragility as a woman and have zero thought about whether or not they can also add value to my life. It's just about what they can get from me. That's not love. That's consumerism.
We think so much about the credentials of the person we want to have without thinking if we are also the person that deserves the person we like. And you dont get to answer that without looking at the person you love, recognize areas of weakness, and think of how you can help make the life of the beloved better. Imagine if people loved each other this way.

Interesting concept of we accepting human limitation. I hate being limited. Was very much athletic and 16 yrs disability. I hate it. I like that JP mentions we accept limitations of others fragility. Had a man w decent pension, home in country, car and nice truck paid for. Tried hard to woo me. I knee he couldn't deal in a supportive caring way w a disabled person. I got worse over a decade plus and was correct about that assessment. Better alone than someone who blames you for your physical short comming. That isn't love. Hard to find that degree of love. I had it 2 a beautiful man 20 years and it was mutual. He was quadriplegic. He got his PhD in Sociology, minor in Biblical studies, and thought in philosophical ways. We had great talks. Now my mental stimulation comes through inet PhD's. I took my best friend camping < 1 yr after we met. So great. He loved it. I miss our times.

You can take an argument too far, into confusion. God Is perfect and created us perfect, with the ability to choose otherwise and we chose outside of Him, where it is imperfect, so don't celebrate imperfection. We receive The Holy Spirit and His perfection is ours and we are seen and function in His perfection. Celebrate Him and His amazing Grace. I trust Him.

What if a parent shields themself with their fragility towards a child when they express what they feel? (the parent is deep within the fragility, as a victim to all expression of pain of others)

In a world where we are willing to trade in our partners, because we need to happy and believe that you could love them if they only changed into the person you want them to be. Instead of accepting that person and not relying on them to make us happy
