That's why Gauri in the beginning says that he got 6 attempts but Manoj has 4. Manoj and Shraddha come from same caste but her father doesn't likes Manoj because of class system which is same everywhere around the world.

Main character belongs to upper caste. Also yes, caste based discrimination still exist in India some parts of the country. But the good thing is that there's a reservation for backward castes and also a reservation for economically weaker section from general caste too now. You are also wrong about upsc. Yes, UPSC is a big deal in India because it gives an opportunity to even common citizen of India to rise to the post with lots of power, secure future and respect. But upsc is not the last option. It's not like if you don't crack upsc, your life would be ruined. There are many other competitive exams. Even in the administrative services too, there are many other exams.
