The claymation Rudolph the red nose reindeer movie was always my favorite Christmas movie growing up. Hermie the elf inspired me until I was like 13 to want to be a dentist. I said as soon as I realized that I could be dentist that I wanted to be one.

I watched polar express for the first time last year and it was weird - so I would have loved to hear what Shane has to say so I could re-watch with his perspective. Muting on honourable mentions seems like a crime.
Muppets Christmas Carol is the greatest Christmas Carol adaptation of all time. I love how Michael Caine plays it so straight
My husband mocked me yesterday when I was watching it. He'd never seen it before and by the end of the film he was sat next to me, enthralled.

The INSTANT I heard Ryan say a Muppet Christmas Carol in his top 3 my respect for the man shot through the roof. One of my favorite childhood movies that I always come back to at Christmas!

The movie ‘Scrooged’ starring Bill Murray is one I must an honorable mention at the very least. It’s easily one of my fav versions of A Christmas Carol, and definitely should be watched at least once by anyone who has watched any version of A Christmas Carol

@@kaelanniblett2460 I love it, honestly. It tells a great story and has some iconic moments. It's Jim Carrey's best physical performance in my opinion. I just watched it with my daughter for the first time and she was a big fan. I even forgive it for inspiring Cat in the Hat, one of the most repugnant movies of all time.

The Santa Clause with Tim Allen was one of our faves growing up. I'm not saying it's one of the best but it was one of our faves. LoL
I felt like it deserved a mention at least. It was a staple for me growing up
I hate that movie, it's genuinely one of my least favourite movies, but I couldn't really tell you why. There's something in me that makes me despise everything about it.

These are all fine lists, but what surprises me most of all is that A Christmas Story didn't even make anyone's honorable mentions, let alone their actual lists. The other thing I'm disappointed by, but not necessarily surprised, is that Jim Carrey's The Grinch didn't get mentioned either. But Edward Scissorhands and Die Hard made lists...? lol I don't know, everyone's got very individual relationships with Christmas so it's all good, I was just surprised

Rudolph is a terrible movie except for the end where the elf tosses the bird that can’t fly off the sleigh without a parachute. A Year Without Santa Claus made everyone on the planet cry when the little girl sang Blues Christmas, but it does get bonus points for the Miser Brothers

My favorite Christmas movie is A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s more of a sentimental thing as well as it has great visuals! The art style is fantastic as well as nostalgic to the Charlie Brown comics, it has great lines that really pull on the heart as well as having the usual lightheartedness of the other Charlie Brown shows and comics, and it is a family tradition to watch the show every Christmas! Me, my brother, and my Grandfather will watch it together every year and the art style even sort of influenced my art style in the way that the lines that the person drew were sort of like they were living and almost like an incomplete drawing while still looking complete. I would suggest it to anyone who hasn’t watched it.

All great choices! I'm glad HT talked about animated short films for The Snowman because there's a lack of the old Rankin Bass stop motion Christmas movies; those were my absolute favorites as a child! I even bought them all on DVD to show my daughter when she's older.

It got wayyyyy less attention in the US. I only saw it as a child because someone put it on a VHS tape that we kept throughout my childhood. The music in it is beautifully haunting. I literally gasped out loud when she brought it up, because that wasn't something I'd thought about in over a decade.

14:02 - 💯 but we had an audio narrated version with the orchestra accompaniment and we would listen to it on the way home from getting a Christmas tree and I just remembered that being the first time I understood the idea of loosing someone close to you and what that would feel like. And yet I always oddly felt comforted despite the tears at the end. Like it was expected and okay to cry, to grieve that loss. It became this sacred yearly ritual that was very informative to my early years and I cannot imagine the winter season without it. ♥️
