- Is it possible to build a functional PC out of entirely broken/untested components? this was either a giant waste of money or the best money saving hack PC building has even seen lol.
Need thermal paste? Check out my brand: www.yeesterpas...

welcome to the longest video i've ever posted on this channel - let me know if you wanna see more stuff like this!
first
Would be cool asf to have more long vids
long videos are nice
yeah i would it was a fun video
it was honestly alot of fun, you should do more
The gaping hole in the case is kinda cool looking aesthetic
Fr
yeah its like the graphics card wants to break free
Until you accidentally scrape your finger on it. Nasty cuts.
I looked away for a couple of min and thought that its an actual case design
WATERCOOL A PC USING A WATERED DOWN THERMAL PASTE
This is something I need to see
Yes please
YES DO IT
Omg have you seen corsair thermal paste? The last 3 tube's I've bought from Walmart has been so watered down its ridiculous at this point.
@mryeester
I hate when people throw out perfectly functional things.. like that poor tv. great you saved it.
I can't even imagine anyone in my country just throw a working TV like that... We even salvage plastics from trash
People have money to spend
I would certainly salvage a TV that was being thrown out... especially a Plasma, which is rarely seen anymore.
@@TheSpotify95 Idk if I'd take a plasma personally. They never made any small (as in ~15 inch) versions of them, and they drown out radio stations with their EMI.
Yep. We're largely a throw away culture here in the USA. It often doesn't make financial sense to repair things.
My friend gambled on a "broken" 1080ti a while ago, only paid $40 and has been working without issue.
What did it say were the problems in the listing?
@@rdkayyvalorant I cant remember exactly, but it was something like he couldnt get a display from it
i bought a broken 1080 ti and it works but buzzes from the power connectors and bsod my pc every month or two 😭🙏 for 60 usd
give me then😶🌫😶🌫😶🌫
I also gambled a rx570 for 15 bucks lol
I've done this with motherboards and GPUs, and a couple of CPUs.
There's always a few hints that the seller hasn't fully exhausted all of the available options: I picked up an A750 for $125 that simply needed an already-installed driver to reset its BIOS. Wouldn't install GPU drivers on its own, so I just used a 13600k's iGPU to install the drivers and it worked perfectly fine after I reinstalled the card.
i have this issue with my motherboard currently lol, thanks for confirming the solution
this is why it's so nice having an iGPU, you got any issues, you can either rule out the gpu or focus on it
bios doesn't need or install gpu drivers... It should work out of the box
@XdekHckr The GPU's video BIOS (VBIOS) was corrupt somehow. I could use Microsoft Basic Display Adapter with no problems, but the system would crash halfway through installing the GPU drivers. Out of curiosity, I checked the VBIOS vs what it was supposed to be and it was way off 😂
"held by duct tape and prayers" ahh pc 😭🙏
Real
you are really cringe
salamalekum
im sry u dont like my comment but dont be mean cuz of it alr?
Duct tape won't work for repairs. You know, for GPUs.
0:11 "Compeeter"
check your ears
I have made myself a whole PC setup from every component of the computer, to the peripherals, screen, mouse, keyboard, speakers, down to the cables and screws used, all from ewaste. And all for free. So responding to the title: Hell Yeah you can! For free too!
the real budget build
Save that TV!!! Its a Panasonic Plasma! Watch anything on youtube or play anything thats 720p or 1080p and it will look amazing!!!
You sir have invested some good time into this video. I give it my stamp of caffeine.
Caffeinator out.
what an honor
the pc i'd give my younger brother:
My brother gave me a free china tablet once, that even had malware/ spyware on it 💀 (7 years ago)
@kreekkrap Typical older brother activities
but it does have rtx3080 which is good
@@TheGetsman put a 1050 in it and put the 3080 in your own build smh
i'd glad to have that pc ngl
you forgot about the hdd you burried
probably didnt forget just leaving it for a while
i can believe ppl just sell almost functional parts, but the impressive part is that the computer ran an operating system, this is my favorite video it was really fun to watch :)
I'm using a EVGA 500BQ for my build. I bought it used 2 years ago and it works great. I contacted EVGA for certain cabled I needed since this power supply was missing them and it's like 10 years old. And EVGA responded like the W company that they are and sent over the cables for free.
17:56 "What's the best way to do that"
Proceeds to do it in the most barbaric way possible.
i managed to get an rx580 for $30 a couple weeks ago for my current system, just because it was artifacting, but it hardly artifacts :D so I believe that searching for cards that artifact can be super viable as well, although obviously a small sample size of 1
Tbh the RX580 is really cheap nowadays
when gpu is arctifacting (and its a broken memory chip issue), you can try to downclock memory or disable memory channel(s) and bring it back to life btw
@@sgtrogers more money saved the better
That reminds me of the fact that the Gigabyte logo is pure artifact every time I turn my PC on. Runs perfectly fine after that tho.
installing all the parts and assuming it will post on the first try is THE MOST bad juju of pc building. at least you didnt put it in the case first.
Long form suits you. this was fun.
All you need to build a computer with broken parts, are working parts to troubleshoot the broken ones
Before I even watch this - Careful with anything on ebay that says "untested", that just means "I tried to fix it but couldn't figure it out". Very rarely is it actually untested.
I had that same CX750 Corsair PSU. It lost the 5v standby so the power button would not power the PC on. I had to bang on the PSU or yank on the cables until the RGB USB accessories lit up. At that point I could power the PC on and then just never shut it off and it worked fine. I wound up giving that PC away, but put a new, cheap PSU in it before I did.
The editing is really good!
Why thank you kind sir 🙏
You should try one of those big GPU lots. I got a ton of LP Radeon R5 cards out of one.
this actually gave me the idea of buying cheap testbench parts, i can sit and work on it, and if i manage to repair them, ill have components to use for testing OTHER parts if they need to be tested. I wouldn't do this with power or a storage device but you know, it sounds like a cheap and effective springboard.
You bought the SSD shown in 12:45 from my job! Its crazy seeing the things we post on TH-cam of all places.
I've purchased (2) b450 am4 motherboards on ebay as untested for $25 each, and both of them were perfectly fine. Ended up building (2) ryzen 5 2600 systems with those boards and sold the systems. I really liked the longer video over just 30 second shorts.
Hey, Mr.Yeester if you need someone to send it too I don’t have a tower 😂
I don't like how you cut the case but I actually really liked how it ended up looking😂 too bad there isn't a way to make it to where it can't cut you but can stay looking like the card breaks out of it! Awesome video!
I can't understand why anybody would throw out a perfectly functional TV. Fair enough if the screen was damaged but you could sell it or give it away or something.
I see it from various perspectives. Realistically, most people don't have the time or patience to put up a broken TV for sell. There isn't that much of a market for broken TVs.
I bought an Asus B650 Plus WiFi motherboard for £40 with damaged CPU pins and damaged ram slots! Pic's looked fine. Updated bios and installed it and it worked perfectly 👍 £160 AM5 motherboard at the time 👌
Do more. I would also like to learn how to troubleshoot and repair hardwares like these too. Thanks!
3080 punching thru the front of the case is the sickest feature and so suitable for a Frankenstein like this
That is a killer deal on that 3080, and this coming from someone who got a 3070 ti for $279. I also have bought a lot of untested or listed broken components before, and I've gotten some working and others not. I also generally agree on not buying cases on ebay, but sometimes I do if I want a specific older case. For example, I recently bought a cooler master Praetorian for a silver themed build, that case was from 2007.
0:51 that’s the oddest drive ever 😂
Definitely would love to see another one of these using supposedly broken parts, But one caveat, Needs to be silenced so make it as quiet as humanly possible without loosing too much performance! . :)
majority of parts in my 3rd pc came from scrapyards, collecting dust and moist. It all work well and I eventually passed it on my brother in law. So if you are broke but needs a gaming rig, that option can't be bad. (Provided that you have technical knowledge about most parts because most of them are needs gut wrenching hours to bring them back from the dead)
i honestly really love the look of the graphics card bursting out of the case
They used to try and reflow chips in the oven, but when the solder don't stick right, it never gonna stick right. But you dont need be ultra fancy, just melt at lower temperature, then get flux because the extra solder dissappear between the contacts. The power supply supposed to be gold because the amplifier amplifies garbage. The bios doesn't help because it calculated the system, it only takes better and better ram.
-Are you insane? idk. Ok, i wanna buy every component of a pc tower in a Broken or Untested state and build a working PC.
-Ok, you're definitely insane.
This was one of the best PC videos that ive ever seen
the real test is how long that PC can still working before some parts busted
A lot of people who sell "for parts" things in the US usually just don't have the time or patience to bend back a few cpu pins or fix components, you know the easy stuff without soldering and replacing parts, just the easy stuff. People who work on PCs know what I'm talking about.
But here in my country since a lot of people are tech savvy, if they say it's broken that means it's broken and you can't fix it, since they already tried to fix it and it's really not possible aside from getting an RMA.
Sure you can build a PC from broken PC parts, all you need is a lot of money, an Electronic Engineering degree, Multi-layer PCB printer, high quality soldering stations, some additional equipment and lots of time and patience. However adding all those costs, you may as well buy a new high end system every five years. Also nice job de-bugging that CPU socket.
[EDIT]: Try reflowing that 3070, or safer bet send it in for repair, most likely faulty memory module.
This is the coolest mad max junk pc, I've ever seen. It gives me hope that with enough effort anyone can build a pc.
Smh, should have gone to micro center's clearance section 🤣 also, PLEASE MAKE MORE LONGER VIDEOS! THIS WAS GREAT!
this man managed to make a pc that is better than mine only using potentially broken parts
I'm in the UK, where I live we put some stuff out for the scrap man, but they only take metal things like washing machines, bikes, anything metal. If you happen to see furniture or something else sometimes it get taken by someone or the council eventually shift it, so very rarely see PC stuff or the like, lucky if you do. Finding that TV would be like finding gold, I would be jumping with joy over that. As for building with old or suspect PC parts I've done that lots of times, I love it to be honest.
bro took "one man's trash is another man's treasure" to a whole another level
i remember one time i upgraded my pc i bought a sapphire pulse rx580 8gb untested for $15 and it worked perfectly fine how it should
this vid was great need more long form from you
Ngl that 3080 being out like that and the case open like that looks kinda sick ngl
Doing this is like gatcha-fying pc building.
now play gatcha games on it
I have a strange adoration for those weird Dell GPU designs. My PC has a Dell 4070 that was pulled from a damaged Alienware prebuilt and I love the way it looks
That looks like it was a blast when it got working and utter frustration until it did. Kudos to you!
I did something similar a few months ago where I bought "broken" RAM and a "broken" CPU for only a few bucks whent they cost multiple hundreds new. Turns out the people selling them just didn't install them right.
15:21 “do not go quiet into that good night”? I think its “do not go gentle into that good night”
Please make this a series
this setup even better than my old pc rn im watcing at
this is great why havent i seen this channel before awsome thanks. lol the wife and i are betting on what works and what doesnt haha
Is that a Panasonic ST60? Those are some of the best, if not the best plasma TVs ever created, what a cool find
build a pc using 30 minutes of yeesterpaste sales
"My pc is broken"
Gives it a whole new meaning
now this is up my alley... absolute in love with it...
This was a fun video to watch good job
If you think about it, buying ANY used PC component is kind of a gamble. I've been building PC's for 20 years and have been pretty fortunate when collecting used parts to build with. I try to look for the best deals and cheapest prices and only dealing with reputable sellers but here lately that's getting a lot harder. The pace at which this stuff becomes obsolete or at least, replaced for something better is just mind boggling. I just finished an AMD AM4 build that I had set a $500 limit on! Blew right passed that budget within the first week! When you're spending close to 65% of your build budget on just two components (the CPU and GPU in most cases) it makes it really difficult to plan any kind of realistic budget because prices are so volatile right now. That AMD system cost almost $900 after all was said and done! Can't make any money like that so I ended up trading it for a like new 65" 4K TV and a PS4 Pro.
I'm watching after having not watched for a while and I love the content.
3080 is notorious for tripping weak PSUs, it has some real high transient power spikes. Also that model specifically (Dell/HP OEM) has some issues with memory temperature but likely not the cause of any blackouts/reboots/whatever.
The build at the end kinda looks like an alienware prebuilt from an airflow pov 😂
I have that exact same psu got it like 3 years ago it still works fine
One thing I learnt is never put a mb and a power supply near concrete or make contact with concrete likewise a car battery it'll ground out and drain and completely die...
Especially while on
i left a like for the mod. i am all about functional modifications.
The title of this video should've been how to build the most possessed gaming PC😂😂😂😂
First motherboards capacitor looked a little rough, that would 100% be my best guess. Someone tried to overclock their pc and a capacitor blew, making the motherboard unusable
I actually built my computer with 2nd hand parts for most parts, just a few parts are bnew, and I've been using it for over a year now and it has been a blast! That RTX 3080 though would be more than welcome inside my tower, hahaha!
Dang he really DESTROYED the case
Before I finish the video I like to say that just because of the ram stick this is not going to work first try and with all these potentially broken parts you will need another test setup to fix them without unnecessary difficulty.
I remember doing the same thing in PC Building Sim a few years ago. Interesting to see it as a video
I love your content! Another great video!
after this last gamble i made on a pricey "broken" graphics card i've learned now to give myself a reasonable hard limit on what i can spend on that kind of risk. 200-300 seems about the upper limit i'd be willing to go for the most expensive part being the GPU. It worked out well when I bought my $250 rx6800/6800xt's but not so much for the $500 7900 xtx that ended up having fried mosfets on it. Keep your expectations and your budget low enough so it doesn't sting as hard when you inevitably lose the gamble.
Great video. Maybe there's an opportunity for a { side Hustle } - buying the Not working / untested parts ; reviving them to make systems with then sell for a very LoW price.
Can I have that? might be a scrap for others, but a treasure for me. With a magic word PLEASE!
for the case, I'd save up for a q300Lv2 for a budget build for about $50 and use some thermal right fans (I got an rgb 3 pack for $14)
Wow. I sold you the HP lga 1151 motherboard, in the white box. I didn't think I would see it on a video.😮
Me who literally has some of the most faulty hardware possible: "Yes, you can"
By the way, fair warning about the RX 500 series of GPUs in case you ever end up using that 570 for anything, you'll want to power limit that thing like crazy. Speaking from experience with my 580 that black screens any time it's pushed above 100 watts. Apparently that's a common fault with most of the rx 400 and 500 series, so I'm looking to replace my 580 with a 1660 super soon
I lost it when he started drilling apart the case...
why not remove or drill out the rivet instead making a big hole in front XD.
drilling the case while the components are still installed is crazy 🤣
Low-key, that's impressive.
So entertaining mryeester!😊
about buying used psu, I bought be quiet psu that have 800w of power and gold rating. It was money well spent, I even got 1 year varranty from seller.
a while back i built an amd fx system out of all parts that were supposedly not working, and after fiddling with ram slots i got it running all fine without issues lol
I would buy this pc bruh, nice work
This pc is literally better than my whole setup
I like this video, because later i will build my custom pc, and this helps me a lot to save my money. Thanks!
I wasn't paying enough attention once and purchased an untested graphics card that was a little over 8 years ago and it still works so I paid $2 for a gt 730
this looks like a troubleshooting nightmare.
you got realllly lucky with that 3080
I like the idea, but I think you know that RTX 3080 from Dell OEM parts have problems with VRAMS overheating, maybe was the cause for the crashes and also think is the reason that was on eBay, but it was a great video
the genuine hype when it finally came together
