This piece is beautiful, my favorite transcendental etude aftet Wilde Jagd. Liszt truly was a virtuoso amongst the virtuosos for being able to play this monstrosity at the original tempo, because here even Traum has to edit his performance and accelerate it to reach this almost impossible speed while keeping control and accuracy throughout the piece (don't mistake me, he's extremely good anyways, I can only dream of having his talent lol)

Lisztomania was the intense fan frenzy directed toward composer Franz Liszt during his performances. This frenzy first occurred in Berlin in 1841 and the term was later coined by Heinrich Heine in a feuilleton he wrote on April 25, 1844, discussing the 1844 Parisian concert season. Lisztomania was characterized by intense levels of hysteria demonstrated by fans, akin to the treatment of celebrity musicians today - but in a time not known for such musical excitement.

I don't like synthesia, but what I really appreciated in this video is how the falling blocks let us see that even a great of a piano player as Traum makes mistakes. You can clearly see where he accidentally plays an adjacent note with the correct one. And the fact that we don't even hear it goes to show how inconsequential mistakes like these in playing really are.

I always imagine that when someone plates all of the transcendental etudes back to back they literally transcend humanity and become some cosmic being of immeasurable power.....
I've never seen it happen but ill still hold out hope that Traum might be able to do it
(Edit) people have played them all back to back but nobody became cosmic tentacle beings. Lol
