i don’t know if it’s intentional but at the start the harmonica sounds like when a person is crying and they can’t speak because they’re breathing in and out so hard. if it was intentional that is sheer genius

    2:30 - 2:37:
Most people will not even notice that.
_That is absolutely_ *Brilliant* _Vocal Phrasing._
That sequence is a perfect example of why Dylan was such a Great Vocalist; And the fact that only a few people will notice it-is exactly why so many people consider him “a bad Singer”.
    He was a _Brilliant_ Singer.

    • @danielwatson5000
      @danielwatson5000 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Genuine question from a musically-inept layperson here - I've re-watched that sequence a half-dozen times now and still don't know what I'm looking for. What is it he's doing there that exemplifies his genius?

    • @CipherSerpico
      @CipherSerpico ปีที่แล้ว +17

@@danielwatson5000 Ok, so phrasing’s one of those things that is very hard to explain via text, so I doubt that I’ll do a good job explaining it-But I’ll try.
The simplest way I can explain phrasing-is that it’s about: the rhythm/cadence/timing of your singing, and it’s about What you choose to emphasize.
It’s about: _When,_ and _How_ you say it.
It’s about the delivery of your voice, rather than your voice itself.
So, in this video: If you listen to the part around 2:32
      “But she wanted my soul”…
He’s waiting until the very last moment-before he sings each word, and he’s emphasizing each word:
      So instead of:
      “She wanted my soul”
      It’s:
      ‘She _WANTed. . . MY. . . SOUL. . .’_
I don’t know if that comes across via text. Which is why it’s hard to explain.
Another way to think about it is this:
If you say this sentence out loud:
“I’m not saying you stole my money”.
If you emphasize any one of those words-it conveys an entirely different meaning.
If you say “I’m not saying *You* stole my money”…
      It’s completely different than saying:
“I’m not saying you *Stole* my money”.
The differences seem minor, but they’re arguably the most significant part of Singing, because those tiny changes-are the difference between getting chills from one singer-and being bored by another Singer.
One more thing you can do-is check out this Song; This is the single best example I know-for Phrasing.
      th-cam.com/video/avk8-YRq_e8/w-d-xo.html
If you actually try to sing along with it-You’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s *extremely difficult* to sing along with that, simply because of the rhythm in his phrasing.
Sorry if that was long and confusing.
Just let me know if certain things still don’t make sense.

    SONG LYRIC ANALYSIS
Bob Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice Its All Right'.
This song, similar to nearly all other hit records, is written to resonate with our inner self.
Animal abuse, and particularly the total neglect of farm animals, is key to this resonance.
It isn't ambiguous or up for interpretation, although that is the idea that is put across.
If we imagine that each song on the radio is intended to be listened to by a farmer on his estate, we are getting what is intended by the lyric writers and government.
This is because many farmers are multi-millionaire land owners.
This, despite the image the government put foward of farmers struggling to make a living.
We should be aware that there is a code going on in song lyrics (that applies to all songs) and allows us to work out the message being put across.
'Babe', for example = pig. So the song, 'I got you, babe', (Sonny and Cher) is actually about pig farming, not a romantic relationship at all.
This particular song goes on to encourage farmers to act penniless (without money) and then abuse animals on this basis.
Always finding a reason to hate the animals even more is also a common request to farmers in pop and rock songs.
There are often references to unprovoked violence directed at the animals. In this song, 'Plot' = loose the plot = find a reason to get violent.
We can see this attitude in the lines, 'They say our love won't pay the rent, Before it's earned our moneys always spent'.
'I guess that's so, we don't have a plot'. This song continues,
'I got flowers in the Spring,
I got you to wear my ring
    And when I'm sad, you're a clown,
And if I get scared you're always around'.
Here, we are clearly talking about the satanic abuse of animals. 'Clown' is a reference to the occult. 'Ring' is another code word meaning the people who work together to inflict the abuse, the military, government, land-owners, farmer workers and supermarkets. All ran by a ring of privately educated or military people, including many of the so-called working class 'artists'.
'If I get scared you're always around' is a sick jokey reference, looking at it from the animals point of view.
Laughing at the abuse or total neglect of animals is another key point these songs aim to get across.
So what about Dylan's song then?
'Don't Think Twice It's Alright' is asking farmers to not care about the abuse they are continuously being asked to inflict on animals through the medium of song, theatre, literature and film.
'Ain't no use in calling out my name' is an obvious reference to an animal asking a farmer for help due to their total neglect of the animals.
'Ain't no use to sit and wonder why babe'. More code here, so, 'Wonder why = WW = SS = the Nazi war regiment, that farmers are asked to emulate.
(Any double letters indicates this. Also, use of the word 'wonder').
'It ain't no use in turning on your light babe'. One of many references in hit songs, to farmers saving money by keeping animals in total darkness.
Farmers are encouraged by our governments to adopt this abusive behaviour.
'I'm on the dark side of the road'.
Another reference to a satanic approach that they are asked to take and sick jokey reference to the animals forced to live in total darkness in huge warehouse-like 'barns' or pens.
All the animal has is taken away from them. Light, family, movement. Everything accept their food and the love they have inside themselves.
But the farmer works on taking these too.
TL encourages you to read lyrics of ALL revered 'artists', to discover that all hit records, whether by Bob Dylan, Kylie Minogue, Eminem or more recently, are all putting across the same message to the farmers and the public.
Entire musicals, such as Grease (about factory farming), TV shows, such as the Trotters (ref to pig trotters) in Only Fools and Horses are all the same.
All encouraging the total neglect of animals and asking you, as a member of the public, to laugh or sing along.
We should think about this next time we say we love music film or literature.
The lyrics typically are not written by the 'artists'. They are nothing more than performers of these hate filled songs.
And why do the government go to such great lengths to break our connection with animals?
Let us first remember that animals are usually shy, loving and defenseless creatures, who have done nothing at all wrong or to deserve any abuse whatsoever.
They rely on humans, and deserve to be treated with respect.
The reason is that discovering our fundamental Alpha connection with animals, allows us to become much more powerful as individuals.
Even the presence of an Alpha person has a wide-reaching affect on communities and societies. The government hates this idea.
Instead they create false Alphas through the media. People we are asked to revere and look up to.
Clearly, this attitude is unacceptable and the abuse stopped.
