      As far as I know for the single en-suite rooms the ones in A B C are slightly smaller than the ones from D onwards, I don’t know exact measurements. I recall there being photos and a video up on the Oxford housing website where you can see the phase 1 rooms. A B C do not have an elevator whereas D onwards does. I’ve never been in a phase 1 kitchen so I cannot comment on those. In terms of laundry and common rooms/spaces, you’ll have access to all, no matter which phase you live in. For example, I was able to go into the common room in block A, while I lived in a phase 2 building. I hope this helped!

    Hi Steffiany - Could you explain a little more how you managed to put the bigger mattress on the single bed you have? I am considering signing the contract with Castle Mill! Also, I am not a biker... does the road getting in and out of Castle Mill feel dangerous at night? Thank you!!!

      Hi! I’ve bought one of those foldable camp beds from Argos and put an IKEA mattress on top of the camp bed. To sort of level it all out I had a mattress topper go across both separate mattresses. It worked great honestly, just keep in mind the combined height so that it matches the existing bed. You could also just ask Castle Mill if they have a spare bed, as they might and I actually regret not asking prior to setting it all up 😅.
      The road out of Castile Mill is fine at night, it’s very quiet and only students who live in Castle Mill or the adjacent complex really use the road. I’ve never felt unsafe fortunately. The only path I found slightly creepy at night was the path that goes through the park and crosses a very low bridge where you have to duck down to walk underneath. But both other roads out of CM are fine, the one in Jericho and the one via the business school that is. Oxford is generally really really safe. Hope this helps!

    Hello! I realise it's been a while since you posted this, but I wanted to know how you levelled the mattress! (I really want to do this if i take up accomodation here). Do let me know. 🌸

      I ended up measuring the height of the bedframe & mattress and I searched online for a cheap frame that would work with the cheapest ikea spring mattress. The “frame” I used was a camping/foldable guest bed from Argos. Looking back, what I should have done first is ask castle mill if they had any spare beds.

      Hi! Not sure what the actual ‘rules’ say but pretty sure you’re allowed to have someone over for a few days each month 😊

    Hi. May I ask whether the lending contract is for ten month or for a whole year? thank you :D

    • @Steffie228G
      @Steffie228G  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! my tenancy runs from September to July. This is, I believe, the shortest tenancy agreement that they have. However, I have heard that they are really chill with ending contracts early because of Covid. If you are on a two year program or if your course runs through the summer, they give you the option to extent your lease beyond July. I hope this was helpful!

    hi! can i ask how you managed to get a double bed? did you have to request for it? thank you!

    • @Steffie228G
      @Steffie228G  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course you can ask! I bought the cheapest Ikea spring mattress and searched online for a cheap frame solution that would end up being the same height. Turns out that an Argos foldable guest bed did the trick. Looking back I should have asked first to see if castle mill had any spares.

    do all of the double bed rooms look like this in castle mill?

      @Steffie228G  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! This is a single room but I got a second single bed to make the bed into a double. This room is the standard single en-suite. I hope this helps! 😊

    I was wondering, how is the reception about visitors? Any strict rules like less than x-days stay etc?

    • @Steffie228G
      @Steffie228G  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I think that officially you need to let them know if you have someone staying with you for more than 3 days. (Details should be in your tenancy agreement) But honestly they’re not strict about it unless you secretly have someone living with you if that makes sense. Someone told me that someone had their mom living with them for over a month, apparently castle mill wasn’t too fond of that one. Besides that, never heard of any trouble with guests.

    Is it common to have single rooms in Oxford colleges?

    • @Steffie228G
      @Steffie228G  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Yes it is! In Europe in general it is really uncommon to share a university room with someone else.
