1:05 I honestly don't know what "shakshuka" is but one thing I always do with BIG bell peppers is STUFFED bell peppers. Ground meat, add boiled rice, stuff it into the peppers, boil in hot water. Add spices at will. YUM!!!
Millipedes are harmless... centipedes however... I dunno... The more I watch sailors the more I like a skegged rudder... or a lifting one! Fun episode. Thank you.
It's a good idea to flush the transmission cooler after a failure. Hopefully the transmission that failed didn't dump a bunch of metal particles in the old cooler. Glad the tsunami warning wasn't a problem!
He just might be at that angsty, "Everyone & everything around me is just SO cringe" phase. I remember what a relief it was for me (& everybody around me, I'm sure) once I realized that things, in general, simply aren't that serious! I had to learn not to take _myself_ so seriously first, tho! That being said, I didn't have to go thru it in front of the internet.🤷♀
4:18 YES, you ARE supposed to do something. Coral reefs have HUGE depth difference, so IF a tsunami wave actually hit, it would become VERY high and VERY violent. So the best course of action is... just sail a bit. To the nearest drop. Tsunami waves are barely notieable at sea. Queue a sarcastic puff about my couch advices from your OTHER fan.
Makes sense. No argument. Where we were tucked into the Vava’u group, it would have taken hours to get clear of all the stuff around us, so I just stayed put.
14:12 Ah! Fish and chips. A dual-purpose dish - the national cuisine and national disaster. Mind you, brits have "chefs" on television than FRANCE AND ITALY COMBINED.
@@sailing_scout the bearing spacing is the key. Not the amount of wear on the plates. Also the reverse plates will be less worn than the forward ones. If you measure them and mix and match you can easily make a spare transmission out of what is already there. Just don't use any thick gasket maker between the case sides. I used nail polish to seal the cases at reassembly. Essentially you just need to tighten the clutch stack using shims on the end shaft bearing. Change the oil often and don't over fill . It will work for another 20 years for sure.
Credit goes to the former owner. He replaced one and had one rebuilt, but knew that it was only going to last so long so he went ahead and bought a replacement. The rebuilt one lasted like 7 years... We're fortunate to have lots of spares for lots of stuff, but certainly not everything. I replaced most of the watermaker last year, but there are definitely components there which would leave me up a creek if they failed.
1:42 Take your sunglasses off, Don Corleone! 😀

9:42 FINALLY we know something Nate can't do. 😀
Hey! That was perfectly executed cheating to win a race!

Fun episode. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the tip!
You're really lucky you had spare transmission, that tsunami was very kind to y'all. Stay safe. 👍🏻💕🐾
Thanks for watching!
7:08 YOU need a haircut, Earl Grey. 😀 So does Kieran Bon Jovi btw. MEGAN! Unleash the Philishave! 😀
It’s coming…
6:12 HOW did you find ground to run a between the Mariana and Tionga trenches!?!??!?!
Love it
Lovely people
Keep them coming please.
Thank you so much for the comment! And thanks for watching!
8:39 Kieran looks like someone's making him stand here against his will, poor kid💀 Nates response to the Tsunami warning was EPIC💯🤣

Yeah - he’s going through a transition right now. We aren’t filming much of him at his request.
@@sailing_scout I thought so. It is noticeable. Then you have the other one who seems like she's ready to take over presenting 🤣
@@sailing_scout Aww, tell him he's cute, and everyone wants to see him!
10:47 PLEASE tell me they didn't do this for the whole three hours you spent there!!! 😲

Great one Scout!
Thanks Morgan! You would have been proud of me on the transmission swap. Though it was really quite a bit easier than taking the windlass motor apart…
Your inheritance keeps giving, nice!
Now I want some fish and chips.
13:02 Meh. Just look under the sink. There must be a spare one there.
14:12 Ah! Fish and chips. A dual-purpose dish - the national cuisine and national disaster. Mind you, brits have "chefs" on television than FRANCE AND ITALY COMBINED.
It usually isn’t very good….
When was the last time you beat Kieran in a fair race? Kids are keeping you and Megan young!
Yeah - I suspect he’s faster than me now. I have no intention of having a fair race w him ever again… 😇
Definitely putting a spare transmission on my list after watching this episode!
One can never have it all, but it certainly came in handy. Especially if you know something is towards the end of their useful life…
Lit
For a tsunami depart herbor deeper water at sea.
Those transmissions are super easy to rebuild. I did mine on the kitchen table.
I’ll look into that. I’ve still got the old one. Thanks!

Dunno why it cracks me up that you already had a spare transmission. I can see having a backup water-maker - but a new transmission? That’s foresight!

Medland , rare name
Indeed. Welsh to the best of our knowledge.
