    Does V/f also remains constant in vector controlled VFD ?
    i.e. if a motor which is rated as 460V/60Hz is made to run at 30 Hz, does the voltage still remain 460V ?

      No If it is below the supply voltage, it will prefer to decrease the output voltage. But if we go above the feeding frequency. The voltage will rise up to the supply voltage. This inverter will switch faster. This is my knowledge. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    three motor coils (inductance) are connected to the component DC/AC converter. The voltage are pulses - but the current has a sine wave. The width of the voltage pulse determines the height of the current.

    • @learnchannel-TV

      In Europe or India for example, the frequency of the supply voltage is 50 Hz. So for sure you can get a VFD to connect to 50 Hz. And set the parameter "edge frequency" to 60 Hz.

      If the voltage is the same you can wire it up without a problem. Lower frequency means youll have a lower RPM. Just make sure you have 110V and not more. Pay attencion to the star/delta wiring as well. I suggest calling an electrician.

    Now-a-days, we are observing that too many large VFD drives are blasting and everything is getting into smokes. This is happening with large size VFD drives. In several cases I could find that the electrical failure had been initiated from a blast at the DC-Filter/ or DC-bus in between the VFD Drive's Converter and Inverter section. Could there be a case of not maintaining enough electrical clearance? You can look at some of the pictures and case details as the section end of this

    • @learnchannel-TV
      @learnchannel-TV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The VFDs are today so powerful - they can perform a cascade control so that torque and speed are constant. But a three-phase asynchronous motor has many advantages to a DC motor: it is robust, high power and you do not need a power supply for rectification. Was this your question?

    • @learnchannel-TV
      @learnchannel-TV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With an VFD you can hold the motor current and the torque rather constant (the slip will be therefore also constant). But when the motor is in very slow motion, the fan wheel of the motor also rotates slow and the motor can heat up. Also the efficiency factor is not at its best. This is a problem of every motor.
      Anyway it makes sense to implement full motor protection by thermal contacts.

    Noob question. According to efficiency curve IM is approximately 4% of slip for maximum efficiency. why not just lock the slip to that range so the frequency varies as load changes, then we just control the voltage and frequency automatically lock for 4% slip range so we have max efficiency and precise control? because V/f control not adapting to the load only good for constant load.

    • @Tankwiper
      @Tankwiper 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that in electric vehicles that use an induction motor, the VFD does control the slip to get max torque during acceleration and max efficiency during constant speed ride.

    Video is OK, but in one crucial moment when you explain loosing torque beause we do not have more voltage, music in background is so loud that is your speech and explanation useless. Best regards.

    • @learnchannel-TV
      @learnchannel-TV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should look the manual of your VFD. The pin assignment of the control ports varies from each VFD. Hope I could help you.
