Haha a land submarine mate. I agree, from what I've seen of IL2 tank crew it seems fairly linear. Get in the tank, drive to mission parameters and blow up any enemy vehicles. This game has a lot more depth and things to worry about making it in my opinion better. Would love to see a campaign and looks like something I will try out myself. How far into the war does it go?
If you use the STA mod then you have ton of missions and campaigns in many different battles across the eastern front (From Operation Barbarossa to the defense of the Seelow heights), even some on the western front and in the pacific, and you will be able to drive all kinds of tanks and vehicles. The amount of content is staggering.
I bought this game years ago and haven’t gotten around to installing it - I get the crazy screen when I boot it up. I think this finally convinced me to get off my lazy ass and install this.
I can only imagine how good this game would be in 2023, if the sales had been better. Imagine all of the Mius Front engine updates and content in this tank sim, it saddens me to think how epic that would be... if only!
Just picked this up a month or so ago but finally got around to trying it after going through the JCM installation steps. I'm liking it so far and see the allure! In general, do you usually order your infantry arounf or is it typically just the tanks near you? Ive done only a few missions so far and every time ALL of our infantry just gets wiped and I'm wondering if thats normal or specifically my fault
No that is only partially your fault. They are very squishy and tend to die fast in an assault. Some missions allow you to give orders to infantry, others just to tanks in your platoon
Seems like in every Steam sale, few trackheads are selected to enter the very niche world of Steel Fury / Steel Armor... I got the game recently and it rocks. I have yet to mod it, but so far it's good. It's an excelent sim for what it is worth, and it is highly moddable (and apparently the meta choice), so the devs were kind of smart in making modding of the game easier I do have question, for anybody that might read this: in the vanilla game, does the Panzer IV get it's -8º of gun depression? It feels like it has wayyyy less...

Hi there, let me answer those questions: 1. No, the Artillery will be present according to the mission design 2. Yes, you can also blow up buildings, however don´t expect it to look pretty. 3. No. Check out my Campaign playthroughs to get a better idea of what the game is offering and how missions are structured :)
It's frustrating that such a good game (still, with the Mod support) is so hard to set up to run properly on modern systems or widescreen monitors. I keep bouncing off of it and instead launched Gunner, Heat, PC. Modern era, does run clunky on my older PC with onboard Vega 7 graphics, but still does run and is fun to play Iwithout the hassle of outdated menus, UI etc.). Oh how I wish the dev of GHP shared the source code with someone, who would make WW2 vehicles in it - it is possible, only needs dev time of course!

Unfortunately it is almost impossible to get it at the moment. You can also use the JCM Mod. Use google Translate to translate the Japanese instructions on the website.
Apparently game developers/publishers don´t think that there is a market for games like this..... Just as they thought there is no market for Space games..... Then again, it doesn´t help that most tank games are released as a half assed, bug riddled, piece of crap with barely functioning AI.. It´s kind of hard to establish a market by doing that.
I've been trying to get a hold of STA 3.4 for some time now, but mechanic wasn't online for a few months. Now that I've checked the forums though, it seems like he's active now! Just a quick question: once you PM'ed mechanic to donate to STA 3.4, how much did you give him? I need to know this so I can donate a reasonable amount.

@@Tonci87 I have been watching your Barbarossa operation - it is very engaging. I noticed you unloaded main gun on some occasions, changing shell to another type. How is it possible? I play with STA 2.2 version (couldn't find newer) and it seems to be impossible to change shell without firing it. Am I missing something?
@@pawelsawicki1750 No you are not missing anything, it is sadly not possible to pull a shell out of the breach. The only way to load another shell is to fire the gun. Where did you see that?
@@Tonci87 I thought I saw you using this feature in one of your Barbarossa game plays, I stand corrected ;) By the way - I stuck at my first encounter with KV-2 (Reconnaissance mission Day 03). Constantly getting hit by either: Monster Tank or one of the PaK 45mm. On one occasion my tank was disabled by single AT 14.5mm rifle shot. One bullet in the turret (approximately 200m) and "commander ist tot". Armor of Panzer III really sucks.

@@lautanbintangempatlima8350 Some people are having trouble getting this to run, but I do not know if that is because of their system, or because they are unable to follow simple instructions on how to install a mod. You need the Japanese community mod (JCM). The website has install instructions and can be translated using google translate: wikiwiki.jp/pzfr/Steel%20Tank%20Add-on

Amazing video, now i understand why you should never expose the side of your tank to the enemy.

I´m not sure about that. And you really should mod the game as soon as possible. The mods fix soooo many issues that the vanilla game has.
Yeah a great tank sim. Another good on is T72 Balkans on Fire. The battles are small scale compared to Steel Fury. Also by Graviteam.

No, this is only singleplayer and focuses on the platoon level

Has anyone gotten this running in Linux? It won't launch from Steam using Wine 7, Lutris and Proton 7. Other Graviteam titles do launch.

Somebody should make a modern tank mod for this game. It's better even than SABOW.
I think the relatively small map sizes might be an issue though

@@pawelsawicki1750 Yes, but it has decent mobility. Once you get closer than 400m you can start using the PzGr 40 against the side of the KV.
