    Been a fan of Yeti since I started reading the MTB mags in 1990, glad to see they're still around

    • @bikemike1118
      @bikemike1118 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes me too, back then. But nowadays this isn’t the Yeti any more both of us drooled over… The only thing in common is the brand name. That’s all. You could write ANY other name on these frames today…it wouldn’t make a difference. The original company was sold long ago and the people who made Yeti what it was …are long gone. Similar to KLEIN…when Trek bought it and the company went straight „down hill“. As it’s often the case when the founder(s) sell or leave for any reason.

      It really does feel special, and frikking fast, even when you're not pushing it hard. Interesting to see a few more 'meh' reviews from others who want lighter or slacker. I certainly get their point, but it really sucked me into how it rode rather than just getting hung up on numbers.

      I agree. Rode mine for the first time and it is all the things you describe and insanely stable at speed which is surprising for a short travel bike. Details are buttoned up on the frame too. Unreal, people are going to hate on the bike bc its a Yeti …so let em. Once you ride it you’ll understand why they did what they did.

    Best yeti bike 🚲. I have ridden most of the yeti bikes and for trails and 115 is the best standout but a bit crampt. Very popular in New Zealand. And fun 🤩. Very fast and medium to low speeds and light but strong. New 120 looks even better

      @@GuyKesTV In size Large SB 115 effective top tube is 631.3 and on the SB120 it's 625. So apples to apples, when seated and pedaling the SB 120 will feel shorter and more cramped than SB 115, no? Descending and standing SB 120 will feel more capable having slacker HT and 'more' bike out in front of you due to the much longer front center measurement. Hard to compare bikes just based on reach measurement nowadays.

    Another brilliant review Guy! I bought my Tallboy 4 based on your review, so now you have me thinking about this new Yeti! Is it as soft/supple in the rear shock in the first bit of travel as the Tallboy? It sounds like it's a more efficient pedaler too? I've been waiting for Yeti and Pivot to go to a threaded BB and now this bike looks like a beautiful re-design and genesis of the SB-115. Thanks again for a great review!

    • @GuyKesTV

      Definitely prefer the Yeti over the 910 which I didn't feel totally gelled together. It's a lot more expensive though and heavier. Top Fuel I've only ridden in the heavier alloy spec so can't comment overall. It was crazy lively for a 14.5kg bike though and the suspension is excellent so I'd expect it to be close between that and the Yeti. Hopefully getting a carbon TF to test shortly so I'll obviously update soon as I can.

Spark 910 looks good on paper, but I'm personally not sold on the TwinLoc system. I'm not racing, so I don't feel any need lock-on. SB-120 looks crazy good, but very premium.

Same applies to the Evil Following but I feel the Yeti pedals better but flows just as well. 10 grand for the spec is outrageous price. In my neck of the woods 11 grand gets you S-Works Turbo Levo SL with Kashima. But it sounds like one hell of a bike. I would be up for a light ebike SB120. Tired from those heavy hitting 160 mm ebikes, lighter and nimbler wouldn’t hurt. Especially if Yeti managed ot in 10 K.

  • @REB4444
    @REB4444 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nah, the wait was over two years ago when the new Pivot Trail 429 came out. It's lighter, more nimble, climbs just as well, & is more capable without having to increase the fork. You also don't have to load the front tire as much (yeah this one is a little better than the other Yetis, but still a Yeti). If you want an even more capable short-travel trail bike for the downhills, get the Tallboy. But if you are a big Yeti fan, go for it and be happy.
