Look at the first corner entry for BRZs vs GR86s. He's totally messed it up with the BRZs. I think on purpose. And when you lose half a second on the first corner in momentum cars like these, they only magnify later on. You can't make up for them later on in the lap. This guy is clearly a Toyota paid driver.
Well the 86 tends to oversteer and the BRZ to understeer. The 86 is also more track focused so the difference can be there. But half a second in one corner is still quite severe.
I think it really depends on ones driving style. If you prefer something that's more tuned to oversteer you'll do better in that car and vice versa. Probably why I see some vids where the BRZ is faster, but unless you're a professional driver I don't think it's something you'll be able to exploit.
Seems like GR 86 is the fastest. GR 86 AT - 1 minute 20.59 seconds GR 86 MT - 1 minute 19.54 seconds BRZ AT - 1 minute 20.71 seconds BRZ MT - 1 minute 20.10 seconds
Yeah look at the first corner for BRZs vs GR86s. And when you lose half a second on the first corner in momentum cars like these, they only magnify later on. You can't make up for them later on in the lap. This guy is clearly a Toyota paid driver.
Which is odd, I completely agree with you, the BRZ/86 platform has much more poise, more stability, less body roll, sets in a corner better and tighter steering when compared to an ND2 (the ND2 does have a pretty communicative rack though, you feel the road in your hands). The reason I say it's odd is because the steel strut front suspension and steel multilink rear on the 86 vs the ND's all-aluminium double wishbone front and multilink rear would suggest better handling, especially combined with its nearly 500lbs weight advantage. But, having driven both, it doesn't translate. I guess there's more to suspension tuning than just the suspension geometry. I guess the longer wheelbase, higher torsional rigidity and lower center of gravity with the boxer engine counteracts all that too
@@tss996gt3 The body roll in the Miata is ridiculous and I don't enjoy it. At all. I assume it can be reduced to acceptable levels with some sway bars.
Shifting with "paddles" does not reduce times. Take your own shit box, get a cheap 1/4 mile g meter. Shift the cunt at redline then let it do it itself. I have a genf2 GTS thats 600kw. Its fastest in grandpa touring mode. Sports mode actually makes it lose 2 tenths on the 1/4.
